Sounds like compression is low in some of your cylinders.
I wonder why🤔
It would have to have high compression to run off one bank so lol your wrong
Yes, in fact it's nonexistant, @ least on one side.
"Well sir, you problem is that your cylinder head seems to be missing on this side."
Zvark Fitzell - i think he was being a smart ass
Ahh yes the old "atmospheric displacement" trick. Not good for power but not every one can say they have the displacement of earth's atmosphere.
Even that silly wisecrack is easily debunked because the top of the cylinder ends at the block deck and the displacement is calculated where the piston stroke travels from top to bottom in the cylinder bore, and the cylinder head has no bearing in that calculation, nor does any area in the cylinder not covered by the piston stroke. If I change to a head with larger combustion chamber, does the displacement change? No, only the compression ratio changes. So if you remove the head completely, you still have the same displacement. People who say that stupid wisecrack think they're being nerdy smart and they aren't even really thinking.
@@onemoremisfit so you could say your combustion chamber is (however many cc’s the atmosphere is) large
@@noi8937 Yes, and you could say your compression ratio is zero. And carried to logical extreme you could say the chamber volume is infinity, i.e. the entire universe, since the atmosphere gradually dissipates at its outer limit into space and there is no absolute demarcation between atmosphere and space, and furthermore since volume is a measurement of space, not air, the space can be occupied by vacuum or air or any other type of matter, even stars or black holes.
I thought it was funny.
@@onemoremisfit You must be fun at parties...

That old guy running it looks like he's only ever driven fords.
Nothing wrong with that.
That’s how he stays in shape.
@@BrAnd0n_1103 just what he grew up with so he trusts it
You can tell he ”wouldn’t be caught dead in no stinkin chevy” 😤
Ok I’m not a mechanic but my father was. He grew up working in car junk yards in the thirties. Back then if someone wanted a part, they sent my dad ( a teenager) to get it. That’s how he learned about the flathead ford v8. When the stock car races came along in the 50’s he was one of the competitors. I saw a lot of Ford v8’s being worked on. They tended to run hot when raced.
running pretty smooth to only be half the cylinders working...
that's a Ford Flathead for ya.
Now if I could just get my flathead straight 6 to do that trick
lol maybe try cutting the valve cover
This is the most outside of the "inside" videos ever seen. I was expecting an microcamera INSIDE the engine
*There's your problem:* the lid is off. Trust me, I am *not* an engineer.
Thats proof flathead v8 ford is the original hotrod engine, tough as nails, check out my 1953 F100 with built mercury flattie v8
With the proper modifications one half of Ford's V8 could be converted to a four cylinder air compressor.
So could the old 302's. Saw one on Facebook marketplace.
I love my old Mercury flatty
4 banger with extra steps
Very interesting !!! Thks for sharing;
Change the cam timing and make a bad ass compressor out of it
Wouldn’t have to worry about ping, so you can get crazy with comp ratio.
This was common many years ago, there was a special cylinder head that made that possible.
Wow, what a fantastuic sightand sound👍👍👍👍
For some reason, it's just not passing emissions.
That's a mean sounding 4 cylinder
8-cylinder
@@wolfzwiful It was a joke. I said 4 cylinder as a joke because it was running on only 4 cylinders
in essence that means that a crossplane 4 cylinder is running the moment because the other four arent
Bro review V6 please
Is that a crossplane crank?
I think you've got a missfire
Flathead Merc.
*Nice V-4.* 😎
It's a slant 4 with spares
@@peter7582 LOL i like that 🤣
Can't tell if the fan is terribly messed up or it's just the camera.
thats the camera shutter speed capturing the picture of the fan at different locations
the effect is called rolling shutter

Do someone know color code of that block paint?

0:06 thank at you tell at that was slow down 🥴 i think at i got stok 🤣🤣🤣
And this where de activating cylinders is only now being used on new cars.
How is it even running
You know someone is just itching to run their hand across that
This looks like a mower engine.
I mean, lawnmowers still use flathead engines, so..... it kinda is one.
Just really big with 7 more cylinders.
How can the gasoline explosion happen in there? Its impossible. Theres nothing to cover it
The other half is covered
Its a V engine. The other head is on
There is no gasoline vapor in the cylinders without the head. It takes vacuum to draw the intake charge into the cylinder. With it open, there's no pressure differential, so no vacuum can be created.
@@markk3652 thank you for answering everyone’s questions including mine
Pra que Cabeçote
I am not an expert but I think you may have some dead cilinders
that is know technicly a 4 cylinder
Let me do a compression test.......
Hey, Now it sounds just like a small block Chevrolet.
I thought it was gonna be plexy glass
Can someone explain to me how this is possible I’m too small brain☹️
It's a V8, meaning two banks of four cylinders. One bank's cylinder head has been removed, so you can see inside. This V8 is simply running off of the other bank of 4 cylinders, hope that helped :)
@@onefastslimjim More importantly it is a flathead V8. You cannot do this with an OHV engine as there are oil and even coolant passages that go up into the head so oil and coolant will be spraying everywhere and the engine will die from a lack of oil pressure. On a flathead the head is nothing more then a chunk of metal with spark plug holes.
@@Cragified^^^ This ^^^ Forgot to add that to my explanation, thanks
Lollll. Briggs and stratton ...
all of you dont know what your talking about seens it has a missing head it is going to sound off.
Satire
But how does it run if there’s no gas? Oh wait I see what you're doing
Shhhh, it's the big oil conspiracy you're not supposed to know.
put your fits into one while its running :) haha will be funny your hand will probarbly feel wobbly
on top of probably breaking your knuckles lol
Sounds like a v8 diesel

Whaw a yank smoke generator
But that's V4
I bet the crankshaft loves the wear of that. engine is scrap after that.
the crankshaft doesnt care, it'll run forever like this
It's not running it's turning
how has it not suffered oil starvation
It is a flathead engine, the only fluid that runs through the head to my knowledge would be coolant
@@censorshipsoldseparately612 I’m not sure either (maybe someone else can confirm) but I’m pretty sure oil is pumped into the head and ejected into the combustion chamber, regardless Running an engine without coolant or 4 of the cylinders not firing is not a good idea for an engine’s long term health in general lol
@@Broyourenglishisgood in the usa, the only thing that gets oiled on the heads is the rockers for the overhead valves. the one exception being the wankle rotary engine
See ur only running 4 Pistons not all
correct me if I'm wrong (I'm sure I am) but those 4 cylinders can't run with the valve covers off like that right?
+kaputnik11 the entire head is off
+kaputnik11 on the other side they are running.
@@Kaputnik11 no because it wouldn't be getting spark
