My hero, what a guy. CANON is a prized possession for me

To know that you hold CANON as a prized possession gives me the strength and energy to keep pushing my music. I will keep trying to elevate my musical output, and remain humble and focused on my artform. I hope that you find my further music releases in 2024 as rewarding as CANON.

What an incredible conversations lads. Thankyou sooo much. Cappo is such a ledge man not just as an artist but the way he articulates himself too. Seems like a gr8 guy. And massive respect to him too for going back and doing a PHD. 👌❤️❤️

I'm so glad that you found the interview interesting. Shedding that performative skin, and negotiating cultural stereotypes whilst trying to articulate yourself is not easy. I still want to push myself to think more analytically, and to find further nuance in all the subjects that interest me. I want to be able to shed new light on artistic concepts by approaching them in unique ways. I feel like this will be one of my main focuses of 2024.

A Cappo interview in itself would have been interesting enough, but having completed a PhD on Hip-Hop and Frontiers in 2014 as a student of a similar age, it was fascinating to hear a little about how the academic world has added layers to an already incredible writer of lyrics (and manipulator/curator of words). Thanks for this, and happy holidays.

The academic journey truly changed me, aided in my ability to articulate myself. I feel like its deeply affected my music, too. Hopefully in a positive way.

If you deem success to be having moved someone with your lyrics, by your honesty and integrity, Cappo; then you are a successful man, from my perspective.
Having seen you perform Canon last Friday in your home town, you have further graduated in the eyes and ears of this beholder. On an aside, I was walking around Nottingham city centre on Saturday morning singing the refrain 'Learn to be Strong' over and over again!
Great interview so far, still listening.
    Appreciate the both of you.

Your words are truly appreciated! So glad that you made it to the launch event. In all honesty, the event took a lot out of me, physically and mentally, due to the overwhelming emotional response I had to seeing so many people there to support my music, and to celebrate CANON's existence. It made clear to me what is achievable regarding my music, when I dedicate myself to the full (holistic) journey. It's been a complex few weeks since the launch, but I feel like I'm finally coming to terms with the album being in the world. I'm reading Rick Rubin's The Creative Act, and I've also taken advice and guidance on board from one of my mentors, Juga-Naut, which has really helped me to clarify any conflicting emotions. I'm hopefully getting closer to reintegrating myself back into the creative mind frame and process.

I'm delighted that this interview has hit you in the way it did. It means a lot that the conversation has made a difference to people who have listened to my music in the past. It confirms that the current path I'm taking is the right one.

@@cappo3995 For sure, means a lot. Congratulations on the record too, it's an incredible piece of work and has so much care and detail put into it. It really distills down and condenses a lot of the important messages and things you talk about and feels like a significant step. I've been listening closely since 06 and I think in a way this is the most Cappo album you have made yet.

This conversation has undoubtedly motivated me to listen to Cannon. Cappo presents himself in a very inspiring way in this interview which should serve as inspiration to others. Study the art-form that you are representing instead of trying to squeeze it for some financial gain or to inflate one's reputation. Cappo seems like he lives this....... And I'm now excited to hear the project. Big up's for this interview

Thank you, man. This is exactly what I'd like to inspire in others, and exactly the type of message I'd like to spread. I hope that the CANON LP lives up to your expectations of it, especially as you approach it from a contextualised perspective (post-interview).

It’s great to see CAPPO putting himself out there and doing some interviews lately. The more people that know about this man’s music the better. I’ve been a fan since Spaz The World and project after project I’ve been saying this guys gonna blow up one day. I really hope he gets the recognition he deserves.

Thank you. Yes, I readily admit that I've relied upon aloofness, and mystique in the past regarding my music releases. But for CANON, I was inspired by my PhD journey, and the words of encouragement that Kong provided during the making of the project to reach out, and open up discourse on my process. I'm so glad that my efforts are being received positively.

Theorist is one of my best friends, and one of the most gifted music producers I've ever had the pleasure of working with. It's part of my plans in the next few years to work with Theorist on a long-form concept project. As I age, my interest in complexity, nuance, and dissonance in music keeps getting deeper. I'm hoping that me and Theorist can make something unprecedented in relation to artistic complexity. I need to get my music theory reading up, first!
