I had a friend who was head of the Ref of the Ontario Hockey League passed away years ago but I got one of the pucks from the final game of Maple Leaf Gardens and it's in my room
I'm a Sabres fan but this night even at 8 years old I'll never forget. I wish like hell I could have watched a Leafs game in the "Cathedral of Hockey". To all Leafs fans I joined and I was in tears when I watched this. R.I.P Maple Leaf Gardens, it's been 10 years, but it felt like yesterday.
I agree. 4 of the "Original Six" arenas have been demolished and turned into parking lots (only in America). Montreal Forum has turned into an AMC movie theatre. At least for Maple Leaf Gardens, I'm glad we would still have a rink that's operational for the Ryerson Rams hockey teams to skate on.
There is just something special about those old barns. I had the privilege as a young lad seeing the Sabres play at the Old Memorial Auditorium. Now that is gone, and when I saw the old friend leave, It gave me visions of the closing of this wonderful building. And I pray to the good lord that Maple Leaf Gardens will stand forever, and I hope they take good care of it. It should be a Maple Leafs hall of fame. Here's To MAJOR CONN SMYTH!
I went down to the Gardens with my dad for this game. We couldn't get tickets but it was still a good time. They game was projected outside in a nearby parking lot and a game of road hockey broke out in front of the building after the game. Some good memories from that building. Sadly this building will also be remembered for the sex scandal.
I was a 3-year-old just getting into hockey, and I remember watching the ESPN2 feed of this game on my couch with my brother and parents. 10 years later I watched my favorite old barn go goodbye. RIP Maple Leaf Gardens (Leafs usage) RIP Montreal Forum RIP Civic Arena RIP Spectrum RIP Winnipeg Arena I think that's all the arenas of the last fifteen years that really had a name in the NHL.
Stompin' Tom, when he first appeared he seemed like a buffoon, but like all people with heart proved to us all that spirit and pride over ride just about eveything else. I am a proud Canadian and I would gladly stand beside Stompin' Tom Conners!
what have they won? not to much less than montreal, if your a montreal fan just just do what the rest of canada wants you to do and detatch yourself from the rest of canada
Love the old rinks, including MLG, but the Leafs are a real joke, and get way too much press time for a perennially pathetic organization. Oh, and now we have their only good player.......HAHAHAHAHAHA see you in the Finals (altho leafs persona will have to buy a ticket..LMAO)
Love the Foster Hewitt walk up the stairs and melody...
Thanks so much for uploading this

Tiger Williams of all people had a tear in his eye for Maple Leaf Forever. That man bled blue and white, no doubt about it.
