The Blackfeet Nation on the East side had traffic stopped into the Reservation when co-vid started. The west side doesn't border the Reservation and it is open but no exit to the east side. Great video, Russ. The Teepee building in Browning used to be a gas station way back in time. It was so neatly painted then, it's a shame they don't keep it up, its history. I used to ride with my truck driver Dad along all of Montana, each town you have visited brings back many memories for me. What is called Recreation Road was the old hiway before the interstate, wow, what a kick riding Montana hiways and biways with Russ this week. Townsend Kids here calling "Shotgun" as Russ drives along. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
East Glacier and the Pine covered mountain s were beautiful! I think that was a lake! So pretty! Thank you Russ! You are a special person to travel and film all these beautiful places! Thankful for the drone footinage! Can’t forget the bison! So thankful they still exist!❤️😀🚙
FYI, you're right on the border of GNP, it is not several miles away. 16:17 the turn to the left is a cemetery where my family is resting, best video I saw of my homeland. Thank you
Yay for the reserve for the Bison! They were so calm and peaceful! In old movies they were always stampeded! Glad we still can see some!! Thank you for stopping!❤️😀🚙🦬
Hi 👋 Russ…I just recently found your channel and decided to watch your videos, in chronological order from the start of this channel. I’m still a few years out, to catching up; but jump ahead when you post a new video 😁So glad you drove through my neck of the woods, Glacier County, and my hometown Browning. Wow, if I knew back then I woulda invited you to a cup of coffee ☕️😊 Yep, your thought of the area in winter is right, it can be rough, with my little town (Browning) being cut off from the outside world a few times during the winter - due to all roads being shutdown down when those blizzards hit. See the highway road map, during storms and see the roads color coded in red (shutdown) all around Browning. Too bad you didn’t get to see the Museum Of The Plains Indian. The Bison 🦬 herd belongs to the Tribe, and that’s their summer pasture, near East Glacier. Good Luck 🍀 on your travels, and thank you for sharing all of it with us! I’ve seen some gorgeous country through your lenses..Yay! 😃 If you ever trek this way again - Glacier Country/GNP & Glacier County - I’ll treat you to a cup of coffee ☕️🙂 Safe Travels…oh btw…I think you need another Scooby 🐕
In 2006 at Thanksgiving we stayed at West Glaisher it was beautiful with the snow. We drove over to Babb and ate at a wonderful steak house that looked like an old quansithut on the out side.
I passed through Browning on my way to the Glacier Peaks Casino. It was not bad, but the casino floor was much smaller than depicted from the exterior. Having stayed 8 days at the Many Glacier Hotel and 3 days at the East Glacier Lodge, I was looking for some gambling action. The drive was very scenic and tranquil. The wide-open views are almost unbelievable and reminded me of a time long past and before modern settlements became established.
Hwy 2 flat as a pancake...just like eastern ND. Boy do those winds come down howling from the Rockies & Canadian provinces in the winter. Glad you're having such beautiful weather & blue skies with clean air (finally). Love seeing the potholes (at least that's what we called the ND land depressions filled with water) again & still filled with water for the migrating birds. Have a request of you re storyboards. You always stop at them & they are very interesting to read. I pause my YT to try & read when you have a good shot of them. So, I'm wondering if you could show them face on so we can read them. You always have such awesome scenery & drone footage, the story boards would be the icing on the cake. Thank you so much.
Nice video again, the drone shots are worth there weight in gold. Looking forward to the ride thru the mountains. Watch out those buffalo are wild and crazy.
I have the darnest time getting thru your videos. I open google maps and start looking at where you are in the vid, so I have to keep pausing the vid. Takes forever to get thru one, but worth it. Thank you.
God Bless United States America , Russ , RVerTV Fans. We Love RVerTV , Grand Music , Grand Videos , Grand Journey of Liberty. We Love Montana - Big Sky Country - Great Video / Great Views. Happy Trails U.S.A. - Russ - RVerTV Fans - Viya Con Dios Amigos .
Thank you. The clouds and sky were magnificent. If you ever get a chance to travel the northwest territories, the sky and northern lights are such you feel you can touch the door of the universe.
We're stuck her in SoCal for another few months. When we leave again it'll be too cold to go that route! But definitely on our list of places to visit!! Travel safe!!
Great views of the gorgeous mountains lakes, rivers. Thank you Russ without you some would not be able to see this part of the country. You are appreciated so much. Larry& Linda
21:56 I've seen many a photograph of rail lines protected by snow sheds and shielded by snow fences, but East Glacier is the first time I've ever seen a trestle guarded by, what I take to be, a wind screen along its entire length. There must be some ferocious gales blowing through that part of the country come wintertime for the railroad to determine that a modern-day freight train needs help to keep it from being blown off the rails.
There are times when the wind blows so hard if your get into it you can barely turn the car around, terrifying. They have warnings about high wind areas.
@@lisamcarthur3731 Thanks for the information, Lisa. What Russ is showing us on his videos leaves no doubt that Montana is one beautiful state at this time of year. Given what you wrote, however, something tells me that in maybe three-months time I'd be pointing my vehicle south and I wouldn't stop driving until the wind chill got UP to freezing temperature. Sounds like one needs to be a hardy individual to live there year-round; not sure I could cut it. Thanks again for the info tidbit. Take care and stay well.
the wind blows so hard the trains have been blown off the tracks numerous times. Semi's also get blown over off the road. It is not uncommon to have 70-100 mph force winds, so when there is loose snow on the ground it causes complete whiteout conditions.
Afternoon Russ, The Bison and the Beast lookin' good. You even got a free undercoating too! I bet those trees are gonna start changing their leaves in a few weeks that'll really be something to see. Can't believe I hit #1! He he! See You Soon! Oh, when ya gonna do a live show for us?
The view from under the bridge was awesome with the mom, dad and baby elk, deer or moose ? Another WOW for the view of the lake and mountains at the top of the road pullout. Thank you. 💞
Love that you pull out every chance possible - really makes the trip fun. The bison heard was awesome! For sure NOT something you will see in many other places.
Love the drone footage. Gee ya need to send that thang out. Oh by the way my Jackery 500 took a powder on me. Good people at Jackery are going to handle it. Great video
Highway 2 goes two miles inside Glacier National park boundaries, southern tip of Park. Amtrak train goes right next to the highway. The railroad built the lodges in East Glacier. People stayed at the lodges 50 years ago or so, and still today people ride the Amtrak to West Glacier to stay in the lodges.
Google street view shows the Two Medicine River bridge with the deep valley being built with the old bridge still in use. It must be a fairly new bridge.
Lovin' it! Planning to be you at least for next summer/fall. In this series of videos you're passing through all the areas I plan to see next year. BTW, you maintain an exceptionally clean windshield.
Such beautiful scenery. I really appreciate your drone tours. Ready for our next stop. I’m enjoying the Virtual 2020 Vacation. Thank you. Stay safe. Wishing you a super week. Hugs Susan
I heard on the radio news this morning that lots of people caught the covid virus from the motorcycle rally in Sturgis and one even died. I'm glad you didn't stop and socialize much there.
I tried to get to Browning in 2020, the 100th anniversary of my family leaving it-so, watching your video, I feel like I finally made it. Thanks for the driving experience, which I did in person on the west side of Glacier in July. But, I was disappointed the moment you passed the Museum of the Plains Indians without note, yet said, Casino! American way of life, I guess. I would’ve gone into the Trading Post and Museum, and left the casino unmentioned. But many thanks for the music and views, especially from the sky.
You will probably never see this but don't take offense. Your voice sounds just like Royal Dano. A character actor known in a lot of mainly the older westerns. (Big Valley, The Virginian, Gunsmoke etc. ) Enjoy the videos and the commentary. Thanks and hope you continue to enjoy your travels.
US-2 is a joy to drive - you can see that traffic is seldom a problem, and all the areas I have traveled on it have been incredibly scenic. My last time going into Browning and East Glacier was last November, close to Thanksgiving and I caught a blizzard. Going into Browning you couldn't see either the edges of the road nor the lines in the road, and by time I got to East Glacier you could barely see anything. I usually stop at Marias Pass but it was closed to the heavy snowfall. It was a frankly scary trip, even with snow tires - I was lucky to be able to follow a plow through a good swath of the park. It wasn't until I was near West Glacier that conditions were back to normal and you could actually see things.
A classic East Glacier experience! The roads don't close around there until they're literally impassable. I was stunned while driving through a mild snow storm in the Lake Tahoe area when I saw workers literally stopping cars to force them to wear chains or turn around. I thought man, my Montana friends would get a kick out of this. Glacier gets bigger storms in September
Your videos are fun and relaxing to watch super informative also. Thanks
Enjoyed. Made me homesick. Grew up on the Blackfeet Reservation and a member. Thanks Russ for taking this route. Stay safe.

God's country. Keep the Republic safe, keep the Republic free.
Montana in the summer. You can't even go 5 miles without having to pull over and look at some sort of scenic vista! LoL
i feel so bad for those towns affected by the closure of the park. Thank you for showing us what was off the 2. Still beautiful!
Hey Russ!!! W O W ! ! ! "BUFFALO HEAVEN" !!! double fence with electric!! (Keep people out)!! Be Safe!!!

Yay for the reserve for the Bison! They were so calm and peaceful! In old movies they were always stampeded! Glad we still can see some!! Thank you for stopping!❤️😀🚙🦬
Glacier is the most scenic national park. Going to the Sun Road is a beautiful drive, sorry you missed it.
You can drive through the Bison Reserve around St. Ignatius, museum and awesome views.

I love St. Mary's! I saw a moose give birth on the side of the road in Babb. God's country!
