Picked up my Model Y yesterday. The heat here is pretty bad during the summer, so i definitely need a roof shade. Also need some floor mats which is how i found your channel. Ordering the Tesmanian over the 3d as I really like the functionality of it covering under the seat part way. When i was cleaning out my trade in yesterday, the amount of just debris just under the front of the seat was fairly high even though I had weather tec mats in the truck. Those are generally hard to clean spots. The website has a 10% off code, but after seeing your video + code, I used that just so you get the credit as you put the effort forth which guided me to the product i wanted. :)

Thanks for the video, I'm about to install mine and this was helpful.
I'm still in winter right now so I'm hoping it helps keep the heat in by having the reflective side facing into the cabin. Glad to hear (no pun intended) it also helps with cabin noise, that's a huge bonus.
Of course I lose the view out of the roof, but I haven't been using that often. Maybe in the fall for leaf season, or if we take a road trip to a city.
You get the best view through the roof from the back seat.

Put the clips on the sunshade first! The clip part goes on the underside and the clip tabs on the top. Start the clip tabs at a 45 degree angle to the border, push in and twist so the tab is on the top, facing the glass roof. Model S. Remove the hat shelf and fold down the back seats, then feed in the shade from the trunk area. If you are installing the reflective shield, use 2 small binder clips to secure the shield on each end. Remove them just prior to sliding the clips between the glass and headliner. I used a tape measure to determine the center, left/right for the suction cups. Then I put the cups at the 1/3 and 2/3 front to back points. Putting a little bit of saliva on the cups will help them stay on longer. I then used a black marking pen to cover up the silver logo on the left front edge of the shade.

I’d prefer electrically variable tint glass.

I have to assume, there will be more sagging with that additional reflective cover on top. I don't wanna put magnets on my glass roof. Very nice info.

I have one that looks exactly like that that I bought off Amazon, my sunroof is not tinted at all, and according to the engineers, it should be tinted. No instructions like you said., luckily, another TESLA owner help me put it on🙏🏻 I’ll leave it on you around because I have no help to put it on

Aug 12, 2022, I just received my tesla sunshade that I ordered from the tesla web site and it does not come with magnets or the silver sunshade.
I didn’t know Tesla sells them. I bought from Tesmanian.
it's so hot so let's put a BLACK shade.. really smart

I bought the sunshade made by Topfit. 2 pieces so no sagging and easier to install.

No, 2 seperate pieces which is why easier to install. You can search on youtube about topfit sunshade for model Y. It is their second version. The first version is a big one piece like yours.
I bought the same…….(topfit) it is definitely a better fit!! The 2pc new version works quite well- And this one did come with instructions…..i highly recommend them!!!
Of COURSE if you drop something small it falls into that 'next to seat' black hole!!!

@@handydadtv they had a heat lamp in the display and when you rotated it from regular tint to the new stuff you couldn't even feel the heat

I don’t know. They came with the sunshade.
Isn't black color absorb more heat? It should be a different color to reflect light away from Tesla.
It also has a reflective shade that you can put on top of this one.

I watched the video to see which way the clips go on the sunshade. Unfortunately that was not shown.
The flat side goes up against the glass. It only fits that one way.

Would have been interesting to see how much more effective the reflective shade could have been.
The car is kept “cool” by the heat protection setting in the car. I have it ON, but not with A/C. If it didn’t bring in fresh air, it might hit 180 degrees, regardless of the sunshade.
I doubt it would have been any different with the reflective shade.
The most helpful thing for me is the steering wheel and seats don’t get as hot. And the sun on my head is less.
