Fun fact during the making of the movie it 2017 Bill Skarsgard was told by The producers not to get close to the kids because they wanted an actual scary reaction from the kids towards Bill Skarsgard as pennywise. Another fun fact that children were allowed to pick their adult counterparts for part two. 🙂

You were asking what Beverly was doing cutting her hair, her dad is sexually abusive and being weird and touching her hair. So she cut it off hoping that he finds her less attractive
Also when people’s lives are “ out of control” they cut their hair because the length of their hair is something they “can control” .

The banter back and forth between the kids is probably the best depiction of how kid's really speak to each other in a movie
The reason that Bev’s dad couldn’t see the blood all over the bathroom is because Pennywise only wanted the kids to see it. Nobody else can see it. He’s not human. He has abilities to change form and make the kids see and hear things.
I’m so thrilled you guys watched this! Stephen King is my favorite author and IT is my favorite book, and they totally outdid themselves with this adaptation! Bill Skarsgård is a terrifying Pennywise!
It is a being that can transform into anything that you are afraid of and use that fear against you to become more powerful.
Pennywise gets power from the fear of children. The more that children fear him the more power he has.
Parents or adults don't see it because they have grown past their fears where as the kids get scared a lot easier so they see things a lot easier.
It's actually pretty surprising watching reactors who know basically nothing about Pennywise, makes for a fun watch though

You guys should go back and watch the 1990 miniseries version at some point when you're done with the sequel of this one if you're able to. That's the original and it's pretty good. Also, in the book, it's described in more detailed exactly how pretty much every kid in this movie goes through absolute hell at home like having abusive parents and then of course being bullied at school by the other kids that also have a hard time at home like Henry Bowers and his friends. All of the losers struggle deeply and that's a part of why their bond is so strong. They all relate to being "losers" which is why they proudly call themselves the Losers Club. I suggest checking out the miniseries to understand it a bit more because it has elements from the book that aren't in these newer films. I do however still enjoy this one and the sequel as well. Great reaction as always! Excited to see you guys watch the sequel!
After reading the book I think I've gained a lot more love for the 2017 version. It captured the vibe of the book better than the 90s one. Except Tim Curry, he captured Pennywise too well.

I Enjoy and have watched most of Stephen King movies.
Funny enough, even after 3 movies, they still haven't told everything from the book.
Pennywise feeds off of children, mostly, because they're easier to scare and fear makes for great seasoning for his meals. I don't remember if it's explained in Chapter 2, if it is, it's probably poorly, but Pennywise is basically just a shape-shifting, illusion manifesting, alien monster.
I think that's all I wanted to mention, but I can't wait for the TV series. I really hope they get to add more from the book and explain the origins of Pennywise, and his nemesis.
Oh also, all of Stephen King's books are loosely in the same universe, and *slight spoilers for The Shining movies* it's theorized that the Losers Club, and Carrie also have similar "Shining" powers as Danny. As well as other characters through the books that I'm forgetting.
Yet they have the shine especially Bill and Stan. It's one of the main reasons besides It's dead lights that he couldn't take it anymore another because he sensed things so strongly. It's also how Bill made the lamb puncture thing have a cartridge when there wasn't one.

In book, Richie was afraid of werewolves. 90s IT has this accurate
In the Neibolt House, after Beverly st*bs Pennywise with the fence post, Pennywise then begins transforming into said werewolf (the jaw being wider, and the wolf life hand splitting his right glove open as it grows). However, said transformation is interrupted by the Loser's Club all being united there, and pennywise is temporarily driven back into the well in the cellar.
I love this movie. When I watched at the movies was raining very hard. So my imagination was crating a lot of scenarios.
You guys are coming in blind, which is good. In the Stephen King book, they give a lot of detail. Also in the original 1990 TV miniseries, they did a lot of explaining (you'll should really see the original 1990 version too). With Pennywise, he feeds off of fear and kids are the easiest prey for him. As you may see in Chapter 2, they are adults with a few flashbacks. Also yes, the new 'Welcome to Derry' series is a prequel, taking place in the 60s when the kids start to disappear with one or two episodes said to be the origin story of Pennywise. Set for 2024 release.
It's not as clear in this version as it is in the 90s version (and in the book) that IT uses the kids fear and imagination to create monsters but it also is bound by the belief of the kids of that monster's form. Example: The characters originally are adults in the 80s and were kids in the 50s so they had monsters like werewolves that can be killed by silver so IT can also be killed by silver.
In this version, Ben believes that true love's kiss can break a spell so it does. And the gun was empty but it works because Billy believes that it will work.
I love the casting of both movies. The kids actually made suggestions of who might play the adult version of them. Bill Hader and Jessica Chastain being two of them 😁

I agree that would be interesting to see. I actually prefer the original mini series. It’s more cohesive and more faithful to the book. I didn’t like the changes to Beverly and Mike’s characters at all in the 2017 version.

Just a little fun bit of information about how the character of Pennywise was conceived: author Stephen King was heavily inspired by preceding horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, who often wrote stories in the cosmic horror genre; his tales centered around these massive, horrific-looking, godlike beings who were incredibly incomprehensible (and dangerous) for humans to understand. That's the basis of Pennywise; his true form is so vast and unfathomable that it would make a human go insane. Those 3 lights you saw when Pennywise opened his mouth super wide were the "deadlights"; they represent his true form. Anyone who looks at them directly goes catatonic, like Beverly did when she saw them.

Movie recommendation for you to react: LAST SHIFT (2014), very good horror movie, tense and claustrophobic, you will enjoy it.
There is a whole lot of backstory of pennywise and all of the King's books. They are all connected and pennywise brother is the one who created the universe. About the Dad not seeing the blood, pennywise has the whole town under his control, especially adults. There is a reason these kids were able to defeat Pennywise and it has something to do with Pennywise's brother in the background and what he gave the kids, that other characters in other Stephen King's books have.

I don’t know why so many reactors think Georgie could have been alive. So he’s just been? Living in the sewer? Had his arm reattached? Homie got eaten right away. I think he was the first thing Pennywise ate after waking up again. The rest he would start saving and eat one every so often. But Georgie would’ve died within minutes if his arm was ripped off
Loved your reaction I am a huge Stephen King fan IT being one of my faves, Bill played it amazingly, big shoes to fill after Tim Curry in the original.
Chapter 1 is based on The losers club as kids they have difficult lives, Derry is a horrid place for them and then they have to deal with Pennywise, he comes every 29 years to feast on kids as kids show fear more, thats why he appears to the kids as what they fear most, the adults see nothing around them.
Chapter 2 is the losers club as adults 29 years later having to deal with Pennywise again, I wont spoil it but there is a thing called the ritual of chud in part 2 it explains all about Pennywise.
Id recommend reading the book its more in depth and somethings in it they couldnt put in the movie.

Pennywise was never a person he’s an entity from an asteroid that hit earth. His official form is actually a spider like form. He use the clown form to make himself more appealing to children. You have to read the book or look up the backstory on Pennywise, the movies don’t really explain it much. Also his biggest enemy is a turtle 🤣

Think i found you trough a scream-reaction. You just started that amazing franchise and because the first one was also one of my first horromovies - i was a kid & watched it secretly trough "sleeping" on the couch - it has a special place in my heart. Mostly, because i'm scared shitless of the dark since i first saw it and feel a little paranoid since then, too.
And now you watch IT too! Great movies, i liked that they took more after the book - not completely, but very much. At least, i though i recognized it. But the old one was great too!

I would recommend the "Insidious"- movies if you haven't watched them yet or if you are interested. Remembering i quite liked them & found them interesting.

From my understanding Pennywise is an entity taht feeds off of fear of children, he has always been through history. He wakes up, feeds, and does back to sleep for a while. But I don't remember anything from the original movie and I didn't read the book.

I have a soft spot for the TV movie because Tim Curry who played Pennywise amazingly was like a real clown while here the clown seems already supernatural and less scary for me. In the TV movie we see them as kids and adults so we know more about Pennywise right away.
Anyway the cast here also great. Same for chapter 2.

Well, Pennywise isn’t a real clown. That’s why I personally prefer this rendition, because it feels like an alien creature (which he is) pretending to be a clown. Tim Curry is phenomenal, but the nuances in Bill Skarsgård’s performance elevate it, for me, as a massive fan of the novel :)
@@donnybuoy I know he's not but his main apparence in the movie is and seeing a "real" clown being evil is scariest for me. And its why a lot of people of my generations hate clowns.

Let me explian something. Basically Pennywise can take the form of anything it's victims fear and then he will eat them cause it's the fear that he craves. The reason why the parents do not see the blood or anything else is because IT makes sure that they won't. IT basically owns the town and effects everyone that way. IT also can take out the more agressive sides of people and uses that to It's advantage when needed as well. IT is a force that is older than the universe and is the darker side of things as well and IT has been around for centuries now also the human mind can not understand it's true forrm so to the eye It looks like a giant spider or just lights as well. The book explians things a lot better than the movies do. I love this one so much but sadly I wasn't a fan of part two even though I liked the actors they used there but still. You both should see the version of IT from 1990 that was a miniseries but still very well done.
Pennywise only goes after children, bit the clown is not it's actual form, he's a clown cause that's the form kids would go to

Pennywise is actually a god. Him and the Turtle respresent evil and good. The turtle threw up the universe. Lol the book goes into all of this. And Pennywise has a grip on dairy almost like a curse and can make the parents not see things, forget about dead children, etc... thats why hes gotten away with everything. You will learn more in Chapter two. Most of this info is still left out though.

There is a chapter 2, though not as good as the first. The humor is still there, though.
Pennywise technically isn't a male. In fact, they kind of reproduce in the book which makes it more of a mind fuck lol. They are also known as Bob which kinda disappointed me for a name. If you ever want to read a book over 1200 pages then IT fits the bill. It does have one really inappropriate and questionable scene in it though.

Low key I feel that Henry could’ve had a bigger role in both chapters of IT cause he felt like more of a threat than Pennywise to me😅
It was intense I might say with kids and the clown 🤡 that might have looked scary at all even you might be right about supernatural powers that he has in his body I think you might have came out from circus because all of a sudden that the circus might be older but somehow might be classic because I don't know if he came from that or any reason that I don't know something from the sewer or the circus anywhere that he came from that he was scaring the whole kids because I don't know how did he do because somehow when I usually see this movie somehow I never know how all kids might be scared of clowns because they're like scary fishes and monstrosity because I don't know about clowns either because sometimes I never got used to see them in a circus because only the reason right now that I noticed them from circus that you should like to entertain kids and then usual like to do balloon thing the balloon shapes and including honking horns and everything what they do but all of a sudden I don't know if they're really scary or not but even now in the movie right now I trying to take all the souls from kids somehow usually likes to do that first Funtime like in a circus 🎪 somehow when I noticed know the ending of that movie somehow him might come back even though he'll might come back with all the kids is that could be right now adults like their parents even that's how it will happen right now in part 2 in chapter 2 that I might say.
