- In todays video I would like to show you guys how I replaced the exterior door handle on my 2004 Chevy 2500 but the procedure is the same from 1998-2006 chevy trucks like Tahoe, Suburban, Avalanche and even the Cadillac Escalade.

To anybody who has a 99-02, you also have to remove the window lock/up and down panel, (it just pops right up and off) to get at another bolt that holds the door on, figured it out after a few frustrating minutes of trying to pull the door panel off

Thanks bro. The shop wanted to charge me $150 plus tax to do this. I paid $16 for the door handle and did the work myself for $free.99. Life saver.
Glad this video is still up. I'm not Mr. mechanic so I've been putting off replacing the drivers door handle. Yesterday the passenger broke too on my '04 GMC Sierra. Got to do both post haste. THANKS!

Thanks for the video dude… I have an old 2001 GMC Sierra I use for a hunting truck and broke the handle last fall. It’s been very frustrating as it was the drivers side… always had to crawl across seat from passenger side. I ordered a handle off Amazon for $18 and it got here last night. I just installed the new one with no frustration. I would have been able to figure it out but you made it simple.. replaced it quick and easy. Took minutes.

Lol 😆 I'm having the same issue right now, I can only open the door from the passenger side & have to reach over to manually open the driver side lock. 🙄👎🏼

I have to replace a buddies handle today. This helped a lot. I picked up a replacement from junkyard but it has a key his doesn't. So I transferred the good bits of new handle I needed to the old broken one. And reinstalled. Getting that broom bolt via under the glass is tricky but doable. Saves a lot of disassembly.

Brother, i have an 07 classic k 1500.
Had to pull out the window and all trim and mirror. It worked but yours was waaaay more simple.

I just replaced mine out of 02 1/2 ton single cab, it took roughly an hour and a half, including going to the part store, the only problem I have was the nut on the bottom, the inside door handle bar was in the way , and my fat arms didn’t help much , but all in all the video was very helpful, keep making helpful bedios

This worked. Thanks. For anyone else about to try this, go ahead and pick up DORMAN part 75450 because you may break those plastic clips, and you'll need fresh ones.
By watching this video I replaced my broken door handle and the steps he showed are easy to follow and bingo

Great video followed ot to the T. Issue resolved. One note: that third nut easier is easier using a 10mm box end wrench.

Details from my job:
My panel screws were 7mm, and the handle screws were 10mm.
I had to put the 10mm socket in vise grips to get that last handle screw.

Very helpful, thank you. My 06 2500HD had one more bolt holding the panel on in the lower right corner. I also had to pull a hand crank (there is a small wire retaining clip that you can pull with a small pick). The nuts for the door handle are 10mm. Hope that helps someone.

Thank you brother. In all of the 36 years I’ve had a driver license I’ve never broken one of those…… until tonight. My first car was a 1973 Z-28 LT-1 and I fell in love with Chevy. It had steel door handles. The plastic ones just like this are GARBAGE. I simply opened my door and it broke the oval part all the way from top to bottom plus snapped off plastic where the bolts go. The entire assembly is SUPER BRITTLE like it’s been cooked too long or something lol. Anyway I appreciate your easy to follow, quick instructions which were easy to follow. Thanks again brother 🤙

Gracias my friend! I just watched a video - but it's the older style truck interior - and he had to grind fkn rivets that hold the window regulator and on and on... I was getting bummed out. Hey there. I replaced the driver side handle, and got everything connected. I closed the door to test it before fully connecting the the panel back on. The door didn’t open, so I went in to open from inside and it didn’t open either. Now I’m stuck. Any ideas? Thanks!
you need to somehow get panel off while door is still closed

I used to break one every winter. I switched to using oem cadillac handles and no problems anymore. The texture pickup truck ones are crap

the sleeve is not a stock item .. so you dont need it

You would need the entire hardware, cables and actuator for it.
