I'm a misplaced Swede. Heard this song in my happy youth and still think it is pretty darn good. Unfortunately I also live in the USA...Miss Sweden and the music the Viking ancestors are so good at making.
This song is so great. I completely forgot about this band but the strangest thing happened this morning. For what ever reason I started thinking about Chilliwack out of the blue. Don't know where that thought came from.. Anyway, I turned on my computer and looked up their songs on RUclips. Wow, I completely forgot how great these songs were. When they were on the radio I lived on the Canadian border south of Ottawa. Used to hear all the Canadian bands back then and Chilliwack was played a lot. I really miss those days. I guess God realized I needed a good blast from the past.
I remember way back in 1980. Being eighteen, and listening to Chilliwack in Chilliwack BC. Man, this band has made some amazing music, still one of my favourite bands of all time
@MrGreenelander I was 15 in 1980 I loved this band & many others. Great music back then I wish we could get back some of those years! Life was simpler, no cell phones or internet it's when people seemed a lot less stressed out & happy too. You'd walk down the street & greeted people that passed you. Times have changed & not all for the better everyone on there cell phones, over crowded Cities. Time flys by too fast! Ottawa, 🇨🇦 ❤️
@@lorricannon189 Yeah I hear you, man. The summer I spent in Chilliwack was one of the happiest of living memory. It was a combination of the perfect weather, the people I served with, I was in the military, and the city and beauty of the environment. It was magical. In the military it's not easy to find a group of guys that get along, but this place was just gold

I live for the guitar tone in this song, but especially at 0:50 and the other licks like that. It kicks arse. Chilliwack shoulda been bigger in America...their 80s stuff is top notch. I happily own Opus X and Wanna Be a Star.
On this day in 1982 {November 13th} Chilliwack performed "Whatcha Gonna Do" on the ABC-TV Saturday-afternoon program, 'American Bandstand'... At the time "Whatcha Gonna Do" was at position #48 on Billboard's Top 100 chart, three weeks later it would peak at #41 {for 3 weeks}, it spent thirteen weeks on the Top 100... Between 1973 and 1982 the Vancouver, Canada band had seven records on the Top 100 chart, their biggest hit was "My Girl (Gone, Gone, Gone)", it reached #22 {for 2 weeks} in December of 1981... In their native Canada they charted twenty six times, with four records making the Top 10... Member Brian Oliver MacLeod, guitarist, passed away he young age of 39 on April 25th, 1992 {cancer}... May he R.I.P.
Omg, I never knew the name of this group. Yesterday I heard “Fly at night” and I’ve been searching for their music, some songs came flashing back, I do remember. ❤
You can thank Bill Henderson’s notorious bad luck with record labels for that. Any success Chilliwack had was based on great songs and relentless touring and nothing fromA&R.
My wife heard the title every week when she decides to ask me for something. “Since you’re up, can you grab me a drink (or take the dogs out)?” She has “Since you’re up…”, I’ve got, “Whatcha gonna do when I’m gone, gone, gone, gone?” It’s forever on my playlist.
I remember hearing this song when I was in my pre-teens; but not until finding the song "My Girl (Gone So Long)" did I find out that it was done by Chilliwack. Right on!
I guess im asking randomly but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I love any assistance you can offer me.
I read an article. A guy had Jerry Garcia from the Grateful Dead in Vancouver for business. They went for drinks and Chilliwack was playing at the bar. Garcia remarked that they were the best live band he had ever seen.
I was born about 2-3 years too soon...My God...these guys had such great songs....I discovered music by word of mouth about 79-80...KISS , SUPERTRAMP, CHEAP TRICK...Love them all to this day...didn't discover music for myself via radio/movies until 82-83 (SURVIVOR/DEXY'S MIDNIGHT RUNNERS/J. GEILS BAND)...didn't further discover music for myself until I listened to Casey Kasem's Weekly Top 40 in the mid 80's...and didn't finally discover CANADIAN amazing non US Billboard Hot 100 music until late 80's when I went to University and had access to MUCH MUSIC for the first time...LONG STORY SHORTER...These Guys ROCK!!!!!!!!! \m/ \m/

I discovered Chilliwack recently and now really like them. I wish they coulda kept this lineup going. "My Girl" and this song are insanely good hit singles. McLeod's riffs on this song kick ass. I picked up Wanna Be a Star recently, and it's a very good listen. I'm on the hunt for Opus X now.
Chilliwack, April Wine, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, Helix, Bryan Adams, Aldo Nova, Loverboy, Glass Tiger, Vancouver... Canada is equally powerful to the USA as rock growth
these songs are so well made, they should have had way more listeners
Young people hate good music.

wicked band, and wicked guitars by the legendary Brian 'too loud' Mcleod. Awesome Canadiana!! ;) And 80's women are still the HOTTEST in history!!

Great song, catchy melodies. I'm surprised it didn't chart higher.

The music scene was in turmoil at that time when that rotten punk crap started getting pushed on us instead good ole fashioned rock like this.

Nice to hear my Canadian brothers strike them cords! Great, easy going song...too bad we've got away from such simple, but genuine music. Rock on!!!
