I have one of Eclipse cross ,i tested it on and off-road I found it do very well in every conditions that it passed Good deal and Great vehicle ,well done Mitsubishi
I just did a test drive today in a 2020 SEL. I was prepared to be disappointed from the reviews I have seen on RUclips and elsewhere. Well, I was NOT disappointed at all, and unless one actually test drives this vehicle, remarks made here and elsewhere must be taken with a grain of salt. Drive it yourself and make your own conclusions!
Thank you! I could not agree more. I have driven the CRV, Rav-4, Cross Trek and more and they really all drive like nice SUVs with slight differences. The way reviewers pan Mitsubishi is awful and if you look at reviews in other countries its the opposite. We chose two new 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL’s with Touring Package in Red Diamond and Octane Blue in October 2019. One reason we chose the Eclipse Cross was the reliability of our past several Mitsubishi models we have owned and several friends have owned Mitsubishis with no issues well over 150,00 and with a CVT (Lancers). Another reason was warranty, looks (my main part lol), S-AWC system safety for handling in rain, snow and loose gravel (I don’t do off-road), features and price. We got between $6,000.00 and $7,000.00 off each Eclipse Cross and for a fully equipped top trim model at around $26,000.00 after sales and rebates we just couldn’t beat it. Plus the features like the dual pano roof, 710 watt 9 speaker rockford fosgate audio system, glass heads up display with neat show at start up and shut down, heated front and rear seats and heated steering wheel, leather, 3 mode S-AWC (Auto, Snow, Gravel), sliding and reclining rear seat (so comfortable and Im just shy a 6 ft), adjustable led headlights, power folding side mirrors, mitsubishi connect app with remote start and tons of stuff you can do to your car like set climate control, turn defroster on, set parental controls and find car plus crash notification and call center and sos buttons in the car, forward collision warning with auto braking and high speed braking with pedestrian detection, rear cross traffic alert, auto high beam assist, blind spot warning with lane change assist, lane departure warning, radar cruise with multiple distancing settings and braking and stop and go, and that cool rear end. It also does extremely well in NHTSA and IIHS crash testing. I love our cars and all the loaded features, I love the way it drives and most of all the unique looks. Plus the S-AWC does amazing in the rain and the snow making you feel safe and secure and paired with the tires I put on which are the Vredestein Quatrac Pro and are Tire Racks top rated All Weather - All Season Tire it does awesome. The standard Bridgestone Ecopias had a hard ride and were noisy like most oem tires where as the Vredesteins are so quiet and smooth over bumps and transformed the Cross. The handling in rain and snow is impeccable. So we are very glad with the chose we made and after 9 months still love the Eclipse Cross as much as the day we got them and never get tired of its looks. Thanks Mitsubishi.
@@kmckenzie2461 Since I originally posted, I purchased a used 2019 Eclipse Cross SE with only 1,800 miles on the odometer, and I couldn't be more pleased. And unlike some reviewers who balk at the lack of a volume knob, there are actually THREE ways to adjust the volume: The steering wheel mounted control, the touch screen controls, and the touch pad control, using two fingers, swiping up and down. Sad that some of these reviewers are acting like Karens about this vehicle.
I collected my four wheel drive model on Friday and took it green laning yesterday. It went through foot deep mud without even needing to change the four wheel drives off road settings. The traction the S-AWC finds is phenomenal.
you prolly dont care at all but does anybody know a tool to get back into an Instagram account? I was stupid lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me.
@Donovan Crosby Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take a while so I will get back to you later with my results.
Great car guys dont listen to the nay sayers this is a great vehicle it fits my life style I can throw my surf boards in it and drive on the oceano sand dunes and still haul ass 50mph up that slush covered big bear mountain roads have not had a subaru or honda ever pass me in those weather conditions.
If I like a car, I get it. I never really bother about reviews too much as most seem to focus on negative aspects too much and not everyone would see the negative aspects if it was a car they really wanted. We dont all compare to other models and brands when choosing a car. Too many reviewers have their own personal opinion on a car, often biased towards other brands which in reality doesnt happen when you talk to a salesperson at a dealer. They would be out of a job.
🚘🚙Eclipse Cross Review🚙🚘 So I just purchased my brand new 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL with Touring Package and S-AWC and got $6,700.00 off the MSRP. Well we actually bought 2, one in Octane Blue and one in Red Diamond in identical SEL trims with the Touring Package! It reminds me of a Volvo and an Aztek in the rear and I like the styling of both vehicles so I love it and it is unmistakable in its design! Plus the rear led signature of the parking lights is so unique and looks amazing and I love how they hid the rear wiper up under the rear roof spoiler to avoid ice and snow building up on it. Also the rear styling aids visibility in my opinion giving a much larger glass area. One thing my salesman said his customers all say is that at night they love how the rear led bar that splits the rear window directly lines up with and blocks the headlights of cars behind you from blinding you and by dang it sure does on 75% of vehicles, really neat. As for the upgraded sound system (710 watt 9 speaker Rockford Fosgate Audio) its actually really good but the way it comes set from the factory sounds awful. Way to much base and punch its annoying. I went through and tweaked all my settings, put surround sound on, took the bass and punch down to a normal level and took mine from Rock to normal and now I have the system sounding amazing and you can crank it and its crystal clear and just right for me. Anyone who buts one of these be sure to really go through and tweak the audio settings to your liking or you will be unhappy with it. I have been averaging about 27 mpg in mixed so beating the numbers and it does better than our 2016 Mitsubishi Outlander Sport GT AWC on fuel that we traded. Now the 2017 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 SE that we also traded blew them both out of the water on MPGs but it was a 3 cylinder with 78 horsepower lol. But we are very pleased with the Eclipse Cross and the features are awesome and it is truly loaded! Plus the looks and questions it attracts are cool. One thing it does have is great power or should I say torque. This thing is very zippy and can really take off with very little turbo lag. The CVT is very smooth and refined and the Eclipse Cross just has an effortless drive to it cruising so smooth and quiet. The interior is a step above the competition in my opinion with super comfortable seats, expensive looking materials, padded dash, arm rest and upper door trim. I have had no creaks or rattles at al and it has been chilly the last few days. The heated steering wheel works great even with my steering wheel cover on. Its just a very comfortable small suv. Features galore! I love the dual sunroofs, heated front and rear seats and steering wheel, heads up display, surround view camera and multiple views to choose from, and the radar cruise worked flawlessly on the 1.5 hr drive home at 70 mph and rush hour traffic stop and go. I love how the trim we purchased has all the safety features and the led headlights in this car are like wow you can see everything and you can adjust them. The auto high beams are a really cool feature. I will mention again the seats in this thing are so comfortable and they just hug you and are soft and long distance comfortable and I am just shy of 6ft. The smaller cargo area does not bother me at all as I purchased this suv more on the styling and Mitsubishi reliability than anything. But you can slide the rear seats forward to expand your cargo but even before doing that it has 22 cubic ft which is great to me. We have always loved our Mitsubishis and the Eclipse Cross is our favorite to date and wow Mitsubishi you sure nailed it as I cannot say there is anything ai dont like inside, outside, or the way it drives. I just really am impressed and love this vehicle and to get it for over $6,000.00 less than MSRP just sweetens the deal. I understand most (not all) people who buy this suv do so solely on the looks and that is why we got our 2 SELs with Touring Package So we got every feature and the 2 sunroofs. It truly is loaded. The Mitsubishi Connect app on our iPhones (7 Plus and X) has worked amazing also and we have used it more than 10 times each to start and shut off our Eclipse Crosses, turn lights on and off, adjust the interior temp, and there are dozens of preferences and features you can adjust in the vehicle with the app. Plus it has the sos feature if the air bags deploy and stolen vehicle assist. I called the call center with the black call button and she went over everything it does and can do. So cool. Free for 2 years which is awesome and runs about $12.00 to $19.00 a month after that depending on the package you pick, which I will gladly pay the $19.00 after 2 years its well worth it. So we are very happy with our 2 Eclipse Crosses and the amazing deal we got at Renn Kirby Mitsubishi from Tommy Moberly and Brendan (Juice). We tend to trade up about every 3 years and this is by far the most favorite vehicle I have owned to date. It is also a IIHS Top Safety Pick and you can tell it is a heavy SUV for its size which helps make it feel so planted and strong on the road yet the small turbo pulls this thing with amazing bursts of power when you push it, it really is fun! Thanks Mitsubishi!
Just remember. 95% will not rock climb with it. Just snow and muddy roads. It's great for most families. I'm not a fan of turbos. I wish it had the bullet proof MIVEC 2.4. If want off road vehicle then get a Jeep. I mean really that's what they are for. Over all, I' d buy this. It's a great daily car.
People love to dislike these vehicles for some reason.....I have a 2012 RVR GT and I love it, going on 4 years now without a single mechanical issue and it's never let me down once (even in Canadian winters). My next vehicle will be a Mitsubishi for sure. On a side note.......my rvr does amazing in the Canadian deep snow and mud
Its not 'some reason' These are boring cars. Real sport enthusiast only give a damn about the Lancer Evo, thats it. No other car drives as well or connects you to the car from this brand. There are no cool and fun mitsubishi suv's and regular sedans. When mitsubishi called it quits with ralliart, fan boys shifted to another brand
I test drove the Crosstrek and, in real world driving, it was VERY slow. Although they have the same HP, the Eclipse Cross's extra torque comes into play at very low RPM so it is noticeably faster when it comes time to pass someone. We purchased the EC over a year ago and it has been a very good vehicle. AWD wise, we have only tried it in the sand and it worked well without airing the tires down.
Are you sure that rear wheels do not use brake force distribution? Mitsubishi sources say they don't for AYC function, but they do for TC function. I also see that TC is working like in ASX/Outlander Sport - wheels must spin at least 15 km/h and then it comes into action.
This vehicle has been demonstrated on multiple videos actuation of its rear wheel traction control.. I just think mitsubishi is just getting a stigma beaten ...most reviewer research from other info so they just keep repeating the same bull...
Seems like it has a better engine than a HRV. I prefer a Prius or RAV-4 hybrid. To each their own. I am surprised Mitsubishi continues to have a presence in America but good for them and consumers to have choice.
Do you actually know how to offroad with tcs? You keep the power going so the car figures out and brakes the needed wheels. You apply power for 2 seconds and then let go. How is the computer suppose to actuate brakes with you stopping power every few seconds and resetting slip detection?
@@drivingsports That's faulty reasoning logic. Just because other awd systems are quicker to react, does not make this or some other awd systems less capable. Slow? maybe, bad? I guess we will never know.
I said the samething... mitsubishi concepts are deterrent from others.. first mistake was to test 0-60 in regular D drive mode ... hence u get that drone elastic transmission feeling... lock the dam thing in gear and this dam thing will shoot off.... Even I was confuse with ur fluctuating revs ...if u had understanding as to how the all wheel system was tune then you was be steady with rev... n this sawc is more for fast paste movement like really not crawling over stone... hence you enjoy vehicle when you were moving quickly through dirty track.. Overall not a bad test review ... but I keep seeing reviewers make the same mistake when testing
You cannot beat the value, features, warranty, safety scores, reliability (Japanese like Toyota & Honda) and so on that this offers. Our two brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SELs with the Touring Package and S-AWC plus several Mitsubishi Accessories had an MSRP of around $33,000.00 and $34,000.00 before discounts. We ended up pay around $26,000.00 (Octane Blue One) and $27,000.00 (Red Diamond One) after the Mitsubishi rebate, Mitsubishi loyalty discount and Dealer discounts. We purchased the top trim SEL with the added $2,500.00 Touring Package because we got around $7,000.00 off each vehicle and none of the competitors could come close in features at the price and warranty. They had brand new Eclipse Cross LE (Limited Edition) trims for just under $20,000.00 which is crazy. I wanted something that was loaded as I always like to purchase the top trim. There have been 2 times over the years that I didnt purchase the top trim and regretted it afterwards and missed the features I didnt get. I also wanted something different looking that stood out and didnt like like every other SUV on the road and this is why back in 2010 I purchased a new 2010 Kia Soul Exclaim in Alien Green and it stood out. The Eclipse Cross brought that feeling back right when I saw it and I was in love with the styling, especially the rear end and oh yea I always loved the styling of the Pontiac Aztek everyone hated lol haha. Maybe I like ugly cars. But the Eclipse Cross hit a home run in the exterior and interior styling department for me! We have owned several Mitsubishis all purchased new but decided to look at different competitors too like the Crosstrek, Rav-4, CH-R, CR-V, and the Rogue Sport. In the end it was between the Subaru Crosstrek and the Eclipse Cross but the Crosstrek Limited had a few missing features that the Eclipse Cross SEL Touring had such as no panoramic roof, no heated rear seats, no heated steering wheel, no sliding rear seat, no 360 camera front, side, rear and birds eye views, height adjustable led headlights, and a few others. The standard MSRP on the Crosstrek was cheaper in loaded top trim but the final price after discounts and rebates was much cheaper on the Eclipse Cross. Plus you get some awesome top trim features in the SEL Touring such as black leather with orange stitching, 2 sunroofs and the front one opens and the rear has its own shade control, all the advanced safety features and driving aids like forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane change assist, blinding spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, radar cruise, auto high beams, rain sensing wipers, 7 air bags, power driver seat, power folding mirrors when you lock the car or by the button on the door, 360 multi view camera with steering wheel button to change through several views with trajectory lines, heated steering wheel, heated front and rear seats, 710 watt 9 speaker rockford fosgate audio system, push button start and keyless access and entry, height adjustable led headlights, led tail lights, reclining and sliding rear seats, 3 mode push button s-awc system, electric parking brake with hold, lighted and sliding visor mirrors, auto dimming rear view mirror with home link buttons, dual zone auto climate control, paddle shifters on steering column for cvt (I will never use accept maybe on a steep grade to slow down or going down hill in snow as paddle shifters on a CVT aren’t exciting or fun lol), 18 inch alloy wheels and more! Also the Mitsubishi Connect App is great and can remote start and stop my car, put the rear defrost on and change interior temp, activate lights, activate horn, set speed alerts, find car, get text on everything your car does or if alarm goes off, see miles driven each day, and so many personal preference settings to the car can be changed even down to how long the rear wiper runs, the strength of air conditioning (comfort or eco), headlight settings and so so much more and it has a call center and sos button and that notifies Mitsubishi if air bags deploy or you can call if you have questions or just need info. Plus the Eclipse Cross has superior safety ratings! Very safe! One of its main safety features is its AWD system (S-AWC)! This system is amazing on road in heavy rain, sleet and freezing rain, snow, mud and so on. While driving in heavy rain I tested mine at around 50 mph swerving back and fourth and you could see on the S-AWC gauge the side to side torque vectoring system lighting up and braking wheels to keep control and it never slipped or felt unstable. This system is designed for on road safety dynamics and you do feel safe and secure in bad weather. Snow mode does great in the snow and heavy rain but in Gravel mode in a snow storm with roads covered driving slower I drove it with complete confidence and had no issues. This really is a great AWD system. In the end we are so happy with our choice 11 months into ownership with no issues and I still like looking at how unique this car looks. I love the look of the Subaru Crosstrek too and now the 2021 is even better. The Crosstrek had a great ride, solid feel, neat looking interior and exterior, high contrast audio screen and cool upper center dash screen display, safe and cool eyesight. What I didnt like about the Crosstrek was it felt more like a hatchback car than an SUV. I know it is a car but sitting in the Eclipse Cross and driving it feels taller and SUV like and even kind of rides like an SUV (a lil rougher and wallows some) even though its not a true full SUV as its a CUV. I wish the top trim Crosstrek had a few more features but to get them you would move to the Forester (the Eclipse Cross is a tweener and class wise kind of fits between the Crosstrek and Forester). I was a tad nervous as previous model year Subarus had engine issues with using oil. My co workers daughter has owned 3 Subarus and never had the issue (2013 Imprezza, 2015 Imprezza, 2019 Imprezza) and apparently its resolved in newer models. But in the end ai stuck to my Mitsubishi brand as they have been good cars for us and the dealer experience we have for sales and service has been top notch and you are treated amazing. So thank you Mitsubishi
The problem with Subaru vehicles is that they start falling apart at 100k miles. I got the dreaded head gasket leak (tried all the "stop leak" additives etc) and then everything else started going bad such as wheel bearings, tie rod knuckle, window seals, trans shift shock, et al. Mitsus on the other hand, last like a Honda or Toyota.
@@johntorrington2672 we have owned 6 Mitsubishis and they are great cars. I have heard good and bad about Subarus but have heard alot about engine issues and oil use issues with Subarus. I can vouch on Mitsubishi reliability though for sure and yes in my options its up with Toyota and surpasses newer model recent Hondas in reliability.
You'd be an idiot if you did. Mitsubishi has terrible resale value, gets terrible gas mileage, and is the worst in the segment. The Subaru is the best, or at the very top with all of the above.
@@sleeksilver the critics hate Mitsubishi, but the owners love them for a reason. Subarus are plagued with unreliable boxer engines, bad electronics and poor structural metals, whereas Mitsus are virtually bullet-proof and have winning offroad rally racing AWD built into their design. I've owned both...
Unlike the Subaru (which also has a reduction gear included in the cvt), this is not meant for high articulation offroading. I'd say it's more of a tarmac, rain, snow kind of awd.
I would agree and it does amazing in the snow, sleet, ice and freezing rain. This SUV is extremely stable and safe in bad weather. I have Vredestein Quatrac Pro All Weather Tires on mine and they are so quiet, smooth and handle snow and rain amazing and unlike any vehicle I have ever had. In Gravel mode this thing sends large amounts of traction to the rear tires. It does not slip a wheel in the snow pulling out, turning or stopping. I posted a few videos of this. This is a good all wheel drive system if you want to get where you are going in bad weather. Its not and off road vehicle I agree. But was still cool to watch this video,
how come you did not put the cvt in first gear and take off TC..i have a 2019 and you can down shift the cvt into number one position..?? maybe it is the driver and not the vehicle... then again how many people take this rock climbing or total off road....
I've definitely narrowed down my used car search to three particular vehicles. Based on the overwhelmingly positive comments from real world owners under this video, and on what I've learned elsewhere, this is one of the three. It's probably going to come down to price and availability.
For the price ,value design layout and size i believe this is a great vehicle ...only complain would be for and sport version option ..with about 230hp and this would appeal to a wider market
Thanks! For the video, in addition one mistake you did at the hardest part in the rocks you needed to turn off traction control this will allow the power on the back wheels to get the traction needed for that obstacle
Being that this falls somewhere between the Outlander and Outlander Sport, but replaces neither, I kinda get the sense that this was just a platform with which Mitsubishi can test the waters on design changes without risking alienating their existing market share. My prediction would be that some of the design features will find their way into other Mitsubishi models and the Eclipse Cross will eventually disappear. Maybe I'm wrong. We'll see what happens.
I am picking mine up on Monday does everyone who did purchase this vehicle still love theirs after purchasing it. This video is giving me really negative views but I did love the test drive of this cross over.
Hello Ryan , i would like to ask if you have ever tested Skoda Kodiaq 1.4 TSI 4X4 and what is your opinion related to the offroad capabilities and the AWD motion of the above mentioned model. Thanks in advance Mike .
I feel like non stock tires like tires made for offroading are more worth the money when it comes to fundamental things like the gravel pit. Thinking from a mechanics point of view. I would prefer this thing over a Subaru or Jeep for a few things. One Mitsubishi was kind enough to make their cars simple. I mean that as a good thing, i kept hearing complaints how the new Mitsubishi crossovers and other vehicles are "simple" and "open". Then complaints about road noise that follow. Im the type to fix it myself and if I go into mountain trails or in the Everglades (my stomping ground) I would bring this over a Subaru. Think of the simple things first, lets say you need a new headgasket or some rock got lodged somewheres its not supposed to be. I want to be able to fix it right there on the trail, instead of having to find a way to get it off the mountain trails to a waiting tow truck. Another reason is, when my warranty runs out, I am dead in the water if I have no ability to fix the vehicle myself. Especially if lets say...something goes wrong and it costs thousands. Simplicity is better. While I know Jeep has all their lovely customization and Jeep was bred on Trails just like the Suzuki Samurai or Toyota 4Runner. There is a downside to Jeep, Expensive. Expensive parts, Expensive to buy and expensive to run. Took one for a test drive and loved it, really going to buy it soon as soon as Covid stops beating down my door!
I like the design of the Eclipse Cross, but the the fuel mileage isn't worth the complexity of a DI turbo 4 cyl. What is the point of adding direct injected turbo if it gets virtually the same fuel mileage as the trusty 2.0 and 2.4 workhorses they've been using for the last 1/4 century?
When I tested the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross here in the UK, that heads up display, I could not see it without bending down (seat low as it would go & display at highest angle) - not a good start. My thigh would scrape between seat and steering wheel at there max adjustable setting (seat low/sw high). 2 hour test drive lasted 15 minutes Test drove crosstrek/XV week later - bought on the spot. Was just way more comfortable for me. Looking forward to your snow videos :).
You do realise that the head up display adjusts quite drastically for height? I collected mine on Friday and the only comfort issue I have is the lack of lumbar adjustment. I'm 6ft3 but still have the seat jacked up as high as it'll go before I'm touching the ceiling and I have no issue with the head up display. The only
@@sbomorse might have just been a issues with UK model. Sales guy was surprised seat did go lower, as it was high from the floor. The display was at max angle.
@@GGMan I'm really enjoying it so far! There are some idiosyncrasies that are a bit grating but other than that it's superb. Took it off roading and it was unstoppable. One thing I have had issue with is a trouser zip putting two holes in the outer side bolster getting in the car. That part is synthetic leather, but even so it's poor quality.
You had the transmission in D for drive. If you then move it left it will let you select gear ratio in CVT. You should be in 1, first gear, it's shorter than having it in drive and better for offroad. However I have one of these and there are No skidplates
Thumbs down for not understanding peak hp figure doesnt matter off road, you are not using full rpm and only in 1st or 2nd gear. Low end torque and gearing matters
You don't seem to be allowing the car any real momentum which is making it more difficult for the car, and btw I like the sound system which is better than I've had on any other car. Overall its a good package but can be thirsty if you use the power, I have the model you tested in UK form and it is a comfortable place to be and not everyone wants to go climbing mountains bearing in mind it's not a full-on 4x4 but does a good job. Only real downside now for me is the decision to pull out of the UK with new cars they will only be providing service from now on, have always been impressed with Mitsubishi reliability and the main reason for buying the car nonetheless my next car will have to be another manufacturer which is really sad considering the most important thing about a car is surely how reliable it will be.
Its to bad the 2020 outlander eliminated the locking front dif and is now the usual open dif like in nearly every other crossover. Would have been interesting to see how those pre-nerf s-awc system outlanders handled the course.
So I got this same car and was told it’s a 2020 model and even carfax reported the same ….. but when I checked later it’s actually a 2019 es model and a friend told me to check the manufacturer’s sticker on the driver seat side and that if it was made from July or so then it’s the next year model and mine was made in November 2019 . My confusion now is isn’t that a lie or am I missing something so can someone please explain this to me? Thanks.
I had mine for over a year now and I think it's ok but I would like to mod it. Has anyone modded this vehicle lifted or lowered. I don't see any pictures online or on any forms
all car depends on the driver, but this one looks powerful enough to go through that rocky roads even thats not its purpose, i own a 1.3L FWD car and use it daily like that road, just skills not the car
I bet you are using 87 regular on this cross..,,Well,,there’s always a room for improvement on torque and Hp..i put 93 on this cross and added 1 bottle of STP octane booster...0-60 is less than 9 sec,,and for claimbing it is best to use your paddle shifter and use 1st gear..I’ll wait for your upcoming updates.!
Hey don't use the octane booster, 93 is great if you can afford it, but trust me dont waste your time. Ive seen deposits on my spark plugs in another car using octane booster like that a few times. It was kinda orange colored, stopped using it, back to normal
End test terrain is not suitable for normal/standard tyres specification, thats why a lot of cars tested here will lost the traction because most of the terrain surface were full of pebble rock...
Please please please test the outlander s-awc.. I have 1.. and they have a different s-awc system ..the front has an electronic lsd..and should have no problem. . The lsd takes up to 7 seconds to completely send power. But once it does ..you WILL make it up . I have had 3 wheels with no traction in a foot of snow.. put my outlander in lock .turn off traction control and gas it out.. shes never failed me
...call me when they make a VR-4 version. For Mitsu to be serious in the US/CAN again, they really need to UP their game big time. The MIrage/G4 is below a Spark and Versa, imo. If Mitsu wants to return to greatness, they need to get with the program and bring back a worthy successor to the Galant, more specifically, the Galant VR-4. They have the architecture with the S-AWC and I'm pretty sure they can adapt the Eclip/Cross chassis to a mid-size sedan. The only real question is what engine, i.e. turbo-4, would Mitsu use in this halo Galant? Make it available in sedan and wagon form and build it to beat WRX/Levorg, Golf-R, Type-R, Stinger/G70, Veloster-N, and any other compact/mid-size car that is hot in the market place. We'll worry about Eclipse GS-Ts and 3000 GTs later.
You must have strategy to steer the wheels in order for you to get the right spot for going up in off roading. You just let it stay one position, how can you get up the hill if you have no strategy ?😅
highway speeds play a big role. at 55-60 mph it probably will get at least mid 30s. but highways around me are 65mph. which means youre usually going around 70. and it'll be lucky to get 27mph. i dont really care about fuel efficiency. i know what happens when i put my foot down, its just something ive noticed. it is a little disappointing that my 2.4 liter outlander sport gets worse mileage on the highway than my 3.8 v6 galant did. but it never really drops below 20mpg, where the galant would be around 15 if was having any fun with it.
To be honest, I was hoping the next car to carry the Eclipse name would be at least good enough, power wise, but those dreams were crushed when I heard the actual figures from this crossover. 152 hp? Really?
Keep in mind it has better T at 184. I have one and I find the acceleration adequate and zippy, the 4WD smart system works well in rocky roads If I turn off traction control, on gravel setting on this system it makes the back wheels brake as needed when a wheel is lifted off the ground, it's a great SUV for the money and easy to work when in need to change oil, spark plugs, alternator, belts the engine compartment has ample space to work with. I love this SUV
I have one of Eclipse cross ,i tested it on and off-road I found it do very well in every conditions that it passed
Good deal and Great vehicle ,well done Mitsubishi
It really should. This dude right here just doesn't know how to attack off road tracks well enough, too dependent on the vehicle's system.
What about the suspension, is it comfortable?
K McKenzie good post that, very informative
@@kmckenzie2461 Since I originally posted, I purchased a used 2019 Eclipse Cross SE with only 1,800 miles on the odometer, and I couldn't be more pleased. And unlike some reviewers who balk at the lack of a volume knob, there are actually THREE ways to adjust the volume: The steering wheel mounted control, the touch screen controls, and the touch pad control, using two fingers, swiping up and down. Sad that some of these reviewers are acting like Karens about this vehicle.
drove it, it sucks. not sorry
I collected my four wheel drive model on Friday and took it green laning yesterday.
It went through foot deep mud without even needing to change the four wheel drives off road settings. The traction the S-AWC finds is phenomenal.
Brave man.

@Donovan Crosby Thanks for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now.

@Donovan Crosby it worked and I finally got access to my account again. Im so happy!

We bought our 2020 Mitsubishi Eclipse ( our first AWD car) we love it, had some snow and packed frozen ice, drove just great thur it
If I like a car, I get it.
🚘🚙Eclipse Cross Review🚙🚘
So I just purchased my brand new 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross SEL with Touring Package and S-AWC and got $6,700.00 off the MSRP.
These are great vehicles and an excellent value.
Signed Mitsubishi
People love to dislike these vehicles for some reason.....I have a 2012 RVR GT and I love it, going on 4 years now without a single mechanical issue and it's never let me down once (even in Canadian winters). My next vehicle will be a Mitsubishi for sure.
On a side note.......my rvr does amazing in the Canadian deep snow and mud
RVR? Hmmm...It is called ASX in the Europe.
Id love to see a CVT Outlander on this road.
We had several back-and-forth emails with Mitsubishi about what we saw, and what the system was built to do.
This vehicle has been demonstrated on multiple videos actuation of its rear wheel traction control..
I just think mitsubishi is just getting a stigma beaten ...most reviewer research from other info so they just keep repeating the same bull...
Thanks! My favorite awd test series!!
i'd be interested in seeing how the 4 wheel lock mode on the outlander sport would handle this.
Would you recommend the Mitsubishi RVR?
I’ve been waiting for someone else to take these over rocks. I really think traction control off should be tested on the rocks.
So far it looks like another should have been behind the wheels... Normally a mercedes Guy, but this car does a good job.
Seems like it has a better engine than a HRV. I prefer a Prius or RAV-4 hybrid. To each their own. I am surprised Mitsubishi continues to have a presence in America but good for them and consumers to have choice.
Fantastic review. Kudos for really taking it offroad. Thats the way to test a crossover. Pure quality.
Do you actually know how to offroad with tcs? You keep the power going so the car figures out and brakes the needed wheels. You apply power for 2 seconds and then let go. How is the computer suppose to actuate brakes with you stopping power every few seconds and resetting slip detection?
Every other car only needs maximum of one to two rotations. (Usually less.) We went well beyond that in our testing.
Exactly what I was thinking !
Thats what i thought, just keep a steady momentum once youre moving and let the ecu figure it out.
Good review Mr. Subaru
The four wheel drive system is still more sophisticated than the Crosstrek's.
Actually it is very similar, even initial 80/20 torque split is the same.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers the Mitsubishi system is superior
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers the Crosstrek doesn't have AYC and nor does it vector across the four wheels like S-AWC.
@@sbomorse Eclipse Cross doesn't have any sophisticated torque vectoring. It is basic AWC with additional brake function on front wheels.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers wrong. It has brake based torque vectoring on all four wheels.
I'd get this over Crosstrek
You'd be an idiot if you did. Mitsubishi has terrible resale value, gets terrible gas mileage, and is the worst in the segment. The Subaru is the best, or at the very top with all of the above.
@@sleeksilver for real
@@sleeksilver thanks I never laughed so hard
@@sleeksilver the critics hate Mitsubishi, but the owners love them for a reason. Subarus are plagued with unreliable boxer engines, bad electronics and poor structural metals, whereas Mitsus are virtually bullet-proof and have winning offroad rally racing AWD built into their design. I've owned both...
@@sleeksilver lmao. Please lay off whatever it is your smoking. You’re delusional.
But was still cool to watch this video,
The gas mileage is really disappointing. But, I could see picking up one of these used and turning it into a soft overlander for cheap.
Love the vehicle. ☝️☝️☝️😎😎
how come you did not put the cvt in first gear and take off TC..i have a 2019 and you can down shift the cvt into number one position..?? maybe it is the driver and not the vehicle... then again how many people take this rock climbing or total off road....
This is exactly what I was thinking when I watched this video
I have a 2018 eclipes cross .S-awc so good.
I've definitely narrowed down my used car search to three particular vehicles. Based on the overwhelmingly positive comments from real world owners under this video, and on what I've learned elsewhere, this is one of the three. It's probably going to come down to price and availability.
Really good and engaging journalism you got going here. Appreciate your reviews!
why did you not turn off the traction control?????????????????
I assume these are standard Summer road tyres?
All seasons.
Great videos. Like your reviews. Congrats from Portugal

Hello Ryan , i would like to ask if you have ever tested Skoda Kodiaq 1.4 TSI 4X4 and what is your opinion related to the offroad capabilities and the AWD motion of the above mentioned model. Thanks in advance Mike .
its has almost 40lbft more torque than the Crosstrek. i would say,, it would be a more enjoyable ride plus the slight worse mpg ratings r worth it.
How I wish you have the brand Skoda in your side of world - id love a serious review of the Skoda Kodiaq Sportline 132TSI!
Part of the problem seems to be tires.
Thank God that I bought the 2WD with MT :)
Good luck in the snow
Why? The AWC system is impressive. Look at other cars' videos and see all of them struggle in this path more or less the same.
Smart man. Save your money. Get snow tires if you get heavy snow. You won't have any problems.
Put your foot on the floor and use those ABS wheel speed sensors !
Pretty nice for this kind of vehicle. How does it compare to Honda HR-V? Have you tested HR-V?
When I tested the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross here in the UK, that heads up display, I could not see it without bending down (seat low as it would go & display at highest angle) - not a good start.
My thigh would scrape between seat and steering wheel at there max adjustable setting (seat low/sw high).
2 hour test drive lasted 15 minutes
Test drove crosstrek/XV week later - bought on the spot.
@@sbomorse enjoy your new vehicle 😁👍
@@GGMan I'm in the UK so I think you might just have had a dodgy sales person 🤷🏼♂️
Is the problem the car or the driver?
Different tires would help a lot. So would locking the CVT ratio, that or a 8 or 9 gear transmission, something with actually gears.
You can force it to stay at a certain gear it has a very good simulated 8 speed transmission even though it is a cvt
You should test the Audi's Quattro Ultra AWD system. Offered in the Q5 2.0 TFSI.
Thanks.
Can you compare the 4x4 by system between this and cr-v? which one is better?
Mitsubishi all the way it's not even a question how do I know trust me the snow I been in this thing and the sand dunes no way that honda can keep up
Maybe a different set of tires would help???
I had mine for over a year now and I think it's ok but I would like to mod it. Has anyone modded this vehicle lifted or lowered. I don't see any pictures online or on any forms
all car depends on the driver,
but this one looks powerful enough to go through that rocky roads even thats not its purpose, i own a 1.3L FWD car and use it daily like that road, just skills not the car
I like mitsubishi. Also I see in Digz channel shout tec info

Please! Thank u
End test terrain is not suitable for normal/standard tyres specification, thats why a lot of cars tested here will lost the traction because most of the terrain surface were full of pebble rock...

...call me when they make a VR-4 version. We'll worry about Eclipse GS-Ts and 3000 GTs later.
not a real off road vehicle. but it will do okay on road as long as u get snow tires in winter
RVR ?
Wow!!! A HUD like an F-16
Good video!
Why is the highway economy so low?
The actual mpg can be higher up to 32 based on driving style.
Van 0 naar100 kan veel sneller je moet dan niet meteen het gas helemaal intrappen maar voor 3/4 en na een sec helemaal.
#mitsubishi is the best
You must have strategy to steer the wheels in order for you to get the right spot for going up in off roading. You just let it stay one position, how can you get up the hill if you have no strategy ?😅
Why does it have such a horrid highway MPG number ?
They keep making gray color inside I go crv or subura
I get 36 to 45mpg on the highway...
highway speeds play a big role. at 55-60 mph it probably will get at least mid 30s. but highways around me are 65mph. which means youre usually going around 70. and it'll be lucky to get 27mph. i dont really care about fuel efficiency. i know what happens when i put my foot down, its just something ive noticed. it is a little disappointing that my 2.4 liter outlander sport gets worse mileage on the highway than my 3.8 v6 galant did. but it never really drops below 20mpg, where the galant would be around 15 if was having any fun with it.
can it hurry and snow there. nothing better than offroad with some snow
Suzuki All-Grip would do much better here, it's available on new Vitara and even gets better version on the infamous Jimny
Suzuki make great cars.
I love it. In Guatemala no there's
I have a es I get 37 miles to the gallon
I have this car diesel an torque in best to gasoline in Off Road Is Great and Better tham gasoline version
Great Review!....but I'll keep my Crosstrek. :)
Love my Trek 😍
Gonna love those head gaskets
Subaru Crosstrek anyday of the week.
Is not the car is your driving. These cars are notoriously good at off road
Whaaaat? Said no one ever. These things are notoriously TERRIBLE on the roller tests and the diagonal tests that other RUclips channels do.
@@sleeksilver have you ever taken out off-road yourself? I took a lancer, a lancer!!
My head hurts now...
Driver? Amateur... :)
Look, cool SUV. But please don’t use our god’s badge on it. The eclipse is the super tunable sports coupe, and so it will remain.
Logan Bradley Exactly!
Everything was going well until I saw the backside looks too much like the horrible Pontiac Aztek
güzel
this is not that car x/
Why name it eclipse? Why? Why why why why why why why why?
