Who knew? I don't understand why it works, I'm just glad it does because it was driving me crazy! You've proved once again that you can find a fix for almost anything on RUclips. Thank you!!
GOD BLESS YOU SIR! I’m a new homeowner and I’m A single mother, I have to google everything to do little fixes like this…… my laundry door was doing this and I was soooo frustrated! You saved my life❤😂
That's good that you took the initiative to figure out how to do it and fix it on your own. Congrats on the new home!!! Home improvements can be fun stuff. Here's another channel my wife and I have with lots of home improvement stuff. Might be some stuff there that you can use down the road: www.youtube.com/@steveandritasdiy
THANK YOU. I just moved into an apartment and literally *everything* in here is messed up. The closet door came off the track tonight and I thought I was gonna lose it. Googled it and stumbled across your video. Thank you for restoring my sanity (for tonight 😂).
this was half of the problem for our fix - we also needed to slightly raise the platform the bottom part of the door was bolted into. a quick half hour job for this novice handyman. you are a lifesaver! eight years of struggling put to an end! thank you so much :)
Thanks Steve I had this issue for the longest on multiple doors. If I was a manufacture I would incorporate your solution into their functional specs. It makes sense to anticipate future issues thus one works smart and not hard.
Our pantry door has been giving us some trouble for some time now and I was ready to throw the whole thing away. This was just the perfect and easy fix! Thank you!
Finally decided to google this. So easy. Thanks for the video. Fixed 3 doors just now. My daughter was thrilled. Tried a 4th but was beyond repair for now. Need to get some wood to fix it. Cheers
😮 it’s that simple?? I have been dealing with this for too long! Those doors are pretty heavy and I always worry about them falling on someone! Thank you so much for this!!!
So, my bifold closet door, actually has this thing on the very bottom, close to a screw looking. But I actually lost that part like 1 day ago, I thought it was just one of my siblings stuff. But I managed to get it back! So It was actually quite hard to get it to stay in the hole at the very top. And very hard to put this screw thing on the hole it came out of. And let me remind you, this was a single person working on this heavy closet door. After finally fixing it. When I keep closing and opening, the thing that has the hole and has this screw on the bottom piece (At the top) was moving/scooting. So I remember you did something like screwing a nail to make it so it won't move anymore! My age:14 (which isn't important) Is going to fix this closet! Tomorrow actually. I can't go touching my dads stuff. But I want to fix this on my own.
OMG! I've been holding this off for 2 years but just saw your video and fixed it. I had the 2nd problem where I screw in the screw but the track still slides. I did your 2nd screw solution to stop it from sliding and it worked!
Thanks! This was really helpful. I just fixed my daughter’s closet door. The hardware was initially installed wrong, so I had to take the rail out and put everything back, but as soon as I did that and tied the screw works beautifully
Apartmwnt i live in lost a screw somewhere along the way. Though we didnt have the same exact problem, you helped me find an answer, thank you kindly sir.
Omg thank you so much, the damn hinges were stripped so i got plastic wood and that worked brilliantly, but the door still wouldnt stay in the track. You video helped me, and so easy !!!! thank you !!!!!!!!!!
I was searching for this video for long time. Went to home Depot and asked a pro. They first told me to replace the spring loaded pin. Then they sold me the slider. I only came across your post while searching how to dismantle the door to replace the track. It was 1minute fix after weeks of trial and poor advice from store.
So what happens if your bifold closet door starts stopping in various areas? Is it getting rusty? For me I see my things getting brown. I'm not sure if that was the original color but I was pretty sure it was white. But I'm hoping this video can help me fix my closet door again!
Problem I'm having is the top pivot bracket itself as come out of the track. Doors were taken off so our painter could paint. And in the process the bracket came off the track.
I would appreciate your advice. I had to cut down about half an inch the door as it was too tall, the door is hollow inside and now about 2 months later the bottom pivot or screw that is holding the door from the bottom is collapsing and the door has fallen twice already. Is there any way how I could fix the door from the bottom? Thank you
Alright, haven't tried but just looking at him solving this, makes me think that maybe that is my problem. But I want to know why my thingys/sliding thing that can slide off track. Is brown?
That's odd. Sounds like it might not be hung right or it might be too tight when you close it causing it to pop back open. You could try to realign it and make a minor adjustment to the top or bottom fixed corner.
@@stevekonbass the maintenance guy took the door off when they put new carpet down and shaved off the bottom of the door in order to open the door and not have it drag the carpet when opening and closing it. Now the door slowly slides back open on its own. It’s like they shaved it too high or something.
You have to determine where the problem is. In my case, the track was warped so driving a screw in at the top acted as a stop and prevented the door from sliding over. You can try that. Your door also might need to be raised. If that's the case, you'll need someone to lift the door a bit while you adjust the screw at the floor that adjusts the height of the door.
Well, there's 3 points of contact with the door. Ya just gotta see where the problem is. Sometimes the screw at the bottom lowers the door over time with opening and closing it. Try to adjust it so it raises the door.
Glad to help. Make sure the 2 points of contact at the top look right. There's that screw you can try to tighten at the top as I did in the video. Definitely check the bottom though too.
There should be something that looks like a screw at the bottom of the door that sits in a little bracket. The screw is screwed into the bottom of the door and let's you make little adjustments to raise or lower it. It should sit in a bracket. If it's out of the bracket, the door can be lifted and the screw placed in the bracket.
Hi what type of self tapping screw u used this? Im so sorry i have literally no idea like the size and length of that screw you used😅 please help thanks
What if the silver thing next to the screw you put in game out of the track? Mine came off and I’m trying to fix it. How can I put it in the track again?
Thank you.... They all seem to be mounted in this way and are straight/ mounted well. I have no idea how one of the kids got it off the track without the wood splitting. Looks like I need to remove the bracket with the pin and reattach when it's inside the track, but that will be tricky as I need room to get a screwdriver in there?

What if the silver thing next to the screw you put in game out of the track? Mine came off and I’m trying to fix it. How can I put it in the track again?
There's a little groove that it sits in so it should slide in the groove. Look to see if that groove is bent if you can't get it to slide in.
The problem with mine is obvious, but the pin won't retract low enough for me to put the door back in the track. How do I fix that?
If you can't get the top pin in the track the door might be too high. You can lower it a bit by adjusting the bottom pin by the floor.
