Are the 1/4" jacks on the modded AT606 "break on insertion"? I'll bet they are floating, with no connection to 0V or ground on the sleeve. Find the offending jack that freaks out the main IC and give it an 0v reference upon patch cable removal.
excellent video as always! I've always loved the tyme sefari mk1 with the circuit bending switches on the sound of thunder expander, so many strange ways they interact with each other and the source material
Way cool! The track you play at the end has a really good vibe, sorta like the beginning of the theme to Bojack Horseman if it was in an unstable time warp. :D
Are you sure that an AT-707 circuit board is different? The unit looks much the same as an AT-606 on the outside but with extra buttons for sampled sounds.
I remember bending that one a few years ago (at606) for someone. But regarding the system 5('s) the most interesting one in my opinion is the bigger one (i'm sorry i don't have a model because i put paint on it so i can't find it's number/ model thing). There was more components and there was more bends points as well comparing to the 606... If someone is interesting i can send pictures of it. I added a joystick and a cable patch plus buttons and switches as well of course. I did noise gigs with him back in the days, and one could easily do a one hour improv with him without doing the same sounds/drones or sequence... But you had to master his randomness chaotic sequence that would sometimes be triggered. It's on my first circuit bending project (2003 if i remember correctly) and it's still to this day one of my favorite modified toy. Highly recommended if you're into bending , and it's super cheap and easy to find too, at least it was at the time. peace yo ::/
I like the way you censored every time the magpie man said "fuck" and yet behind him, on the wall it says "fuck you" in huge letters. Oooh... I can see the musical possibilities of it having a complete meltdown and then going back to playing "Bontempi sound".
I’m always intrigued by circuit bending, great video. Forgive me if I’ve missed it but have you ever done a video just about feedback loops and/or matrix mixers?
This gentle Bontempi goes nuts! I guess, you process it through tape or minidisc for more crazyness? Are you routing it into the Warped Vinyl at the end fo the video? Do you have live shows booked in France anytime soon?
Yeah, in the piece in the end all the loops are from the bontempi, and the keyboard part is indeed warped vinyled. I don't have any france shows booked yet - right now I don't have an agency so I am only gigging when I get asked to play somewhere.
A year ago or so I fried the big brother, Bontempi something something 707. It made totally insane glitch sounds and loops for some days, awesome stuff, really agressive though, then it went quite for ever :'(
Oh, it's one of those with 666 sounds and they're quite a lot of them, so you can get them for little money. I'm pretty sure they have all the same brain. :)
I guess that the patch points are color coded (i.e.: yellow to yellow, black to black, blue to blue, ...). And (possibly) the red and the white one are more "generic" ones. At least, as a suggestion by the bending author?
I love you my friend but not your introduction voice:) because it's distrupting effectiveness of the subject.. but it dosen't matter I still love what you doing and I 'm so happy to see you.. thanks!
@@Hainbach I only installed a volume control years ago wen I opened it up, indeed didnt find anything but didnt look very hard..., but I have seen others bent and have been wanting to check it up again some time... But maybe you are right!
Thx! I enjoy 8bit toy sounds, bent and unbend. Its an aesthetic of its own that blends well with more hifi synth or acoustic sounds, especially once you add FX.
The guy doing donuts in the parking lot was halarious...
glad I'm not the only one who appreciated that 🤣
he was good also lol
So much happening
I thought the funny part was when the guy broke the circuit board.
This is amazing haha
When it goes from complete melt-down to lambada, best drop ever :D
"And now the lambada sounds utterly brilliant"

Happened as I read this. Lol
You and Simon the Magpie make an awesome team (love the odd couple dynamic), looking forward to more collaboration between you both.
it really reminds me of the LSD dream emulator game for ps1. It got music JUST like this.
That sounds like an awesome game!
The covers for alt J's relaxed album use screenshots from that game. Awesome stuff!
yeah it definitely does
Spot on, that game was creepy at times man...
Do you mean REZ, the game that was meant to simulate synaesthesia?
This might be one of my favorite videos on RUclips. I just keep coming back
I love the e36 doing figure 8s outside.
DEAR LORD this is nostalgia right in the face, I had this keyboard a long time ago... oh.. it hurts so bad
Thank you, Simon.
Also, that thing is crazy!
5:46 ffs, these vocal samples cracked me up
fuckJuly exactly the same to me!

Some definite shades of Earthbound aka Mother 2 in these sounds. Too cool, thanks for sharing!
7:11 to 7:25 will forever be looped in my brain now.
I love how it tries to go through the entire PCM sound bank from 5:40 to 5:55.

That is one of those legendary Harventman modules I still need to buy at some time.
Omg the meltdown is a PerFect representation of a meltdown that happens inside my head sometimes :D
as a kid I had a Yamaha PSS-170 keyboard and could get similarly interesting sounds/textures by messing around with the voltage levels.
Those wrong connection still grooved hard. 💃🕺🏾🕴️👯
Awesome! Reminds me of the wonderful Utopia soundtrack by Cristobal Tapia de Veer
I have to check that out!
I used to have that same 4/8 track recorder. Great little machine.
everything i see hainbach playing i want to buy it...
8:20 reminds me of Idioteque

Lol, i loved that meltdown that concluded into the Lambada pattern!! Brilliant!
It would make a great into to a chip-tune.
I can't stop listening to the "meltdown"
You have interesting tastes! ☺️

Thank you Nathan! Such a chill guy to work with.

Simon The Magpie lmao
Really like the outro music - thanks for sharing.
5:05 Hahahaha you can see the moment where your wife told you to turn that racket down :)
Thanks for the video! Seems like a fun whacky device
i love the Magpie, it's clearly written "fuck you" behind him while his voice get censored
Hainbach is the man, love your videos.

I love Bojack the Horseman and the main theme, so is a very flattering compairison :-)
1:50 Bleeping Simon's profanity but right behind him is a shelf with "FUCK YOU" spray painted on it.
Great video as always, and thanks for sampling that for us!
The Simon censorship with the classic Fairlight sound made me laugh

4:09 lol! It comes with a free Vangelis!

Hi I have a bontempi at 606 and I'm interested of your scheme if you can share with me..thanks🖤
Hi sorry for a late answer. Did you start your project ? You must have start bending the thing,, but if not I can try to send you something sure...
Amusingly, auto generated captions claim your name is 'Honda'
I hope I don't look anything like that dude from Street Fighter II
@@Hainbach Lack of face paint, at the very least
Bontempi keyboards are great for bending.

giving off real cyberyogi/ Christian windler table hooter vibe

Not yet! I do have a matrix mixer and I have feedbacked pedals. Could be a nice video.
I can do feedback with my Euro setup as Clouds has 2 i/o but I would love a matrix mixer, I think I might have to DIY one! Thanks
Damn, I love this thing...

Oh, it's one of those with 666 sounds and they're quite a lot of them, so you can get them for little money. I'm pretty sure they have all the same brain. :)
Sadly no. I have a few System 5 lying around that are not bendable, no points.

I guess that the patch points are color coded (i.e.: yellow to yellow, black to black, blue to blue, ...).
And (possibly) the red and the white one are more "generic" ones.
At least, as a suggestion by the bending author?
He told me its pretty random - the combinations change from preset to preset, and to discern logic would mean a lot writing down things
I came for complete meltdown.
should have put a a Gopro in the corner while I made the different sounds - the top view does not do the desperation justice.
Sadly, anything Bontempi is extremely rare. I've looked for months and haven't found an AT606
Are those available for purchase by the bender?
He is a successful musician now, no time to bend sadly.
All censoring should be via Orchestra Hit ...
Oh that would be fun. I can imagine in a live broadcast someone sitting there with an Bontempi and hitting it like an art of noise track.
I love you my friend but not your introduction voice:) because it's distrupting effectiveness of the subject.. but it dosen't matter I still love what you doing and I 'm so happy to see you.. thanks!
So the bt 605 version is unbendable then?
Amazing
I dont know why he said only the AT 606 is bendable.. BT 605 seems to be almost identical but it doesnt do the chimes when you chose sounds
Have you looked inside? I don't remember what models, but most had much more limited contacts on the chips. So not as nice to bend.

Folktek Omnichord - if you look it up on RUclips with hainbach added you should find the video.
cool, a little patchbay on it.
some of these patches remind me of Jazz from hell by Zappa.
That is pretty accurate - the familiar warped.

what model Yamaha recorder is that?

sick donuts in the parking lot
maybe add an extra volt when it plays up
Ive wanted to circuit bend a cheap old yamaha synth. But ive no idea wtf im doing and would likely burn the place down.
You only bend battery powered things as a rule so you won’t burn anything down, do it!
6:36 sounds like some aphex twin stuff
5:00 sounds like Cardopusher!
6:52 reminds me of Earthbound
What do the switches do?
Turn the patch point on and off.
Why did you not have me back :(
Maybe you could sell Make Noise a new name for a module: the MoDeBonTempi.
are you simon the magpie?
