Maybe, you eventually run out of man made food on Great Bear island sooner or later, cattails and burdock aren't renewable either. It would be hard to survive on a strict vegan diet
I do think with the new update it is more feasible to do a vegan run for at least 100 days carrots potatoes acorns porridge really expanded the diet option
Was it mentioned that proximity to the machine was useful for treatment? I could've sworn it was said that proximity to it caused the symptoms to grow stronger.

To elaborate on all I said about port mary on one of the last videos It seems like a lot of people enter the island via the airfield. It’s certain that most freight comes from port mary but nothing definitively proves or disproves that passengers enter this way. However, the dedicated air terminal at the airport, still cluttered with suitcases, and the short drive from the airfield to a train terminal, also still full of bags, suggests that most passengers entering and leaving the island came this way. The numerous yellow train carriages such as the one by the mystery lake log sort, near the bridge to the far range in broken railroad, and on a bridge in the far range branch line, seem to be passenger wagons. These were probably attached to the ends of freight shipments, as it doesn’t make sense for an island as small as great bear to have a dedicated passenger train. These trains would be the only realistic way for laborers in carter hydro, foresters in mystery lake and the muskeg, tourists in the mystery lake camp & hunting lodge, and miners in the far range to get back to regions where people actually live. Most likely, the residents of coastal highway mainly worked at the cannery, hibernia processing, mystery lake, and the far range. Already moving workers around the island, it would be no trouble to pick up tourists and visitors from the airfield at the station in transfer pass.
I'm going to provide a part of the earliest security chief's log. "The island hasn’t been making our lives any easier. Hauling loads from the coast to the inland bases has been slow and costly." The cargo definitely came over by boat and would require some people to ensure it arrived at the far territory. The airport does get passengers. That is pretty obvious from the suitcases you mentioned. In this time the in game universe, fuel is incredibly expensive and hard to get. The world economy in general is in shambles and it is very likely that air travel is so uncommon that it would be cheaper to shut it down. The entire island is at some point in time virtually abandoned except for a few dozen residents. There was a buffer memory in Hibernia about a tourist that got stranded because their flight was cancelled. There are many reasons why it is unlikely they could all fly in with their cargo. It is possible that it was both by boat and plane, but most likely almost all of the travel was by boat to Port Mary.
@@ToastyBits the cargo, especially large machine parts and bunker materials, probably came by sea, but it seems that smaller supplies and most personnel cane by air Everything in the bunkers looks old, maybe between 1975 and 1995. Fuel would have been affordable then and aviation was probably thriving, even if it had mostly dried up after the collapse in 2012.
That is an interesting thought about it taking place decades ago, but I think it's relatively recent. Here is the other half of the security chief's log that I quoted in my last comment. "But the character of the locals, both here and far inland, seems in our favour. There aren’t any helping hands. Outsiders get ignored and then forgotten." What this refers to is the people of Great Bear and their behavior towards outsiders. The people of Great Bear became isolated and eventually resented non-natives to the island. They would generally not care about you or treat you like an unwanted guest. The best example we have of this is how Grey Mother speaks to Mackenzie at first. This characteristic appeared after the Collapse. Therefore, Signal Void took place after the Collapse. This is why the security chief mentions the island is in their favor because being outsiders will get them ignored. It is a camouflage. Edit: As for the bunkers, I think they are older and possibly existed well before Signal Void. There is a note in Mystery Lake in the campaign from the forest watcher that worked there saying they found the prepper cache you can loot in the campaign. That prepper cache already existed, so it is possible the bunkers could have already existed for a long time. My best guess is they are left over from the nuclear scare of the Cold War.
Woah woah woah, what if ALL the corpses you've found throughout the game are "patients" or mine workers who "wandered off"?????
That’s what I thought
That and the people from Milton that gray mother said “foolishly left for the coast”, along with other simply unfortunate survivors
Great video! I just finished the tale, and noticed the sheer amount of herbal tea in the omega bunker, poor bastards tried their best to sleep.

At some point, there will be a limit. It depends how stubborn you are and if you are willing to die a vegan.
@@ToastyBits Birch bark is forever renewable and people have made long-term interloper runs surviving only on birch bark tea successfully.
Cat tails indeed ARE renewable.

Yes, it did. Meaning they had to move the patients away from it to treat them.

Do you think Astrids Case has anything to do with what we find out in Tales? It feels like she knows something, but idk what.
I'm working on a few videos about this idea.
