On your first spot recommendation. The water nearby has pearls at 93.8x83.6 and 88.2x97.3 which are trivial to get with a low level Ichy. There's also tons of oil in spiky rocks right off the shore. The swamp cave is fantastic for cement paste farming and the entrance has lots of crystal. A little deeper into the cave will net you some obsidian past a few enemies. It's an awesome starting spot.
I can't thank you enough for these location tips. I'm playing solo for a few weeks now and dying a lot as it's expected. These locations will certainly give me a great head start.
The Best Location to start is South the Hunter Cave close to a waterway that you can build a raft dock to move around the map freely without issue, mainly to transport dinos because cryopods don't exist and it is more than likely you will have to make Outposts around the map to deal and do your prep work. Basically you start there build a small thatch structure to get started there are plenty of trees, so either Wood or Stone structures are more than good enough especially PVE like Singleplayer or Co-op. You have access to easy food and water, really early on, you have access to alot of Wood/Thatch/Fiber - Stone/Flint and you should be able to easily get a started Metal supply going. Once you get to a base of having a Pistol/Shotgun/Crossbow you are ready for the most part, but before going into the hunter cave system you will need a few things Namely I recommend taming 2 Baryonyx they are just about 2 of the best cave divers and in the Hunter cave you will find Crystal/Obsidian/Metal. Once the Hunter cave is completed you are going to be at a stage where you need several things, 1- Yuti 2- Argenta 3- Polymer 4- OIL 5- Chitin the best place I know of to get most of these minus oil is the Ice Island area in the North West, Oil is easy to find once you can make diving suits, and you will have two Bary to protect you while you get it right south in the sea shelf of where you started out. I would build your first outpost and make it heavily defended between where the Snow starts, Typically I use a water platform to stay away from predators but since they are not available I recommend a high defended Tower with a landing pad on top, Also it is good to keep a backup Argent and spare cold biome gear handy, Next outpost I do is typically the Swamp Bug Cave its more for Chitin Farming than anything else as its a pretty challenging cave, Its great to go down into the swamp and grab quite a few of the Frog tames, you need the gas mask and such and I typically just go slow. From there I knock out caves easy to hard and make small outposts, from there for the end game You are going to have to adjust and make a Dino Pen base near obelisks. Its going to be alot more base building.
The last spot you said you not spawn has been my "main base" for over a month, when you said "completely wiped" my heart sunk, i have soooo much stuff there, had a look at a level 1 titanosaur yesterday and it had 280.000 health, i need to pack up and m9ve asap i think, just dont know how to move everything easily....
Ngl the first one at stonehenge is and always be my first base location. Currently playing on ARK mobile nd that beaver spawn is like the best way to grab pelt early game before getting gnawed by direwolves
Safer metal run from the first location would be just North of the Beaver damn area. That little hill to the right of that inlet has 5 or 6 nodes, should get enough to get started.
They shoulda just made this an update or something. My lack of self-control will inevitably drive me to purchase Ascended for console even though I've already got Evolved and all the DLCs. :'( Cheers!
Can you still upload/store dinos at the obelisk? I haven't seen anyone do this and I generally play pve and solo. I am guessing you could build near a obelisk in single player or maybe on a server to help assist moving dinos across the map. I play on Xbox, so I can't test this myself. Just playing the waiting game rn. Thanks all the vids!
too many, I am up to 15 right now... changed nothing in my settings. Guess spawns are brocken. Started at 3 Brontos but as kill stuff their numbers increases fast. Kills the spot sadly
Great question! I never recommend starting in the snow because of the extra challenges of surviving in the cold before you can make warm clothes. My favourite has always been the waterfall base, close resources and bbuuiod it tight and it looks just epic.
I've always built on north 2 right where the bend is where the ocean turns into the river.

"Whales" (Basilosaurus) don't sink rafts. Leedsichthys do. They're a fish.

if you build on the ridges of the pond at 2:20, your tames will fall through the ground so stay low

So from what I'm seeing from the asa videos this seems just like a prettier ark with a few more features and they are charging you for the privilege 🙂
