I know you're looking for a bullet-point list of everything in the video so here it is:
    > Educate yourself on ADHD so you know what you're dealing with and don't feel demotivated by misinformation and rumours from people who don't understand ADHD.
    > Put your ADHD diagnosis (whether it's professionally or self-diagnosed) into a positive light. Things will only get better once you've been (self)diagnosed because now you can refer to many sources on how to treat it.
    > Get ADHD coaching. You can be coached by anyone whether it's a parent, a friend, or an ADHD coach. Make sure they're actually educated on ADHD coaching otherwise, you may be held to neurotypical standards and feel demotivated.
    > Medication is nothing to be ashamed of. As long as you don't abuse the medication, you'll be fine. You don't HAVE to be on medication, especially if it doesn't work or causes side effects that aren't worth it.
    > If you can't or don't want to take medication, then resort to other ways to treat your symptoms. This means implementing habits, routines, and lifestyle changes that will help you cope with your ADHD. Common examples of this:
    - Exercising regularly
    - Mindfulness meditation
    - Having morning, night, and reset routines
    - Having a diet that is ADHD-friendly
More things can be done but don't stress about it too much as it can be overwhelming to try and implement all the changes too quickly

Believe me when I tell you I was recently diagnosed at 35 after a lifetime of time wasted and mistakes committed I had to go through several doctors directing them to properly diagnose me until I got to a non profit (CADDAC) who understands the ignorance of this disorder in the medical field and they sent me to a psychiatrist who specializes in ADHD. And until today I’m fighting to be put on the right track for treatment weather it has to do with treatment. Ex: I was prescribed addareal but had to convince doctor for right dosage, they’re usually scared because it’s a controlled substance they’re basically giving you meth. And people do get Hogg on it but it ruins for the patients. Ex2: when I was seeking therapy because that’s the best treatment along with the meds. We have public healthcare but psychology is not covered and it’s very expensive to pay for $200/h. So I had to go through the gov funded therapy and I had to lie and say I have anxiety and depression to get in CBT. And when I got in and told them that they were issues as a result of ADHD they answer with oh we only treat anxiety n depression so I played along with that…… btw I got diagnosed by one of the first doctors I tried with major depression disorder which very common for a misdiagnosis…… and many more issues…..etc so if you’re India good luck for you brother I hope you find the people who will truly help you !

ADHD has medications that contribute to focus and behavior. This helps me a lot.
ADHD can be used as a gift when one learns to master it. When other people see a large stop sign at the gym or in very demanding physical work, our stop signs can be 10 miles further away than normal.
Many athletes have ADHD. Michael Phelps, the greatest swimmer of all time is one of them.
So it is possible to turn it all into a gift when you have mastered ADHD. It will be demanding, it will take time and there is no shame in sharing feelings with someone you trust. It just means that you take these four letters seriously.
    Speaking from experience.

Recently read the book ADHD 2.0,(which overall didn't have a tonne of new info but was good and concise) it did bring up a new theory that strengthening your cerebellum, responsible for movement/coordination/balance, whether thats balancing on one foot or a skateboard or a balance beam on one foot or walking backwards on a beam, the coordination to juggle 3 balls, or do physical acrobatics.
Also the cerebellum is one of the most dense area of neurons in the brain, weighing only 154 grams but having *69 billion neurons.* For comparison the cerebral cortex weighs 1233 grams and has only 16 billion neurons. In fact your whole brain has around 90-100 billion neurons so your cerebellum takes up A LOT.
Through preliminary studies it's apparently been seen that improving your balance and coordination can help reduce adhd symptoms. I'm guessing this meana getting to an intermediate/advanced level. Not just walking open eyed across a balance beam will do it. While general exercise/sports can do this, just running or lifting weights isn't balance/coordination intensive. So it could help learning to balance on those balance boards with one big wheel under them, then do that with your eyes closed, then do it with eyes open and throwing a ball up and down or learning juggling is another coordination intense skill. Improving balance through balance beams or one foot balance exercises, headstands/handstands, skateboarding etc...
Thought i'd throw that in there

I took stratera for one year. A lot of people tell you, it feels as if the voices in your head stop speaking but for me, i can‘t describe it better than „A quiet ocean“. It really felt like that. I could sit still without having this weird pressure that i always had to release by burning energy (typically moving my whole knee rapidly). I could write with a pen without feeling the pressure of it being too slow. I lost almost half of my weight in one year (160 pounds) because i didn‘t thought about this „something“ that had to be „satisfied“ by constantly eating. But! Not everything was fixed. I couldn‘t bring myself to do the simplest things. I had the right mindset but i couldn‘t get over the barrier. It sounds easy. Just do it. But it feels like a instinct. You don‘t put your hand on a hot plate, because you know, this will hurt you. You have instinctively respect for the hot plate. And this instinct applies for me to literally everything. Going out with the dog, taking a shower, brushing my teeth. My mind says, that‘s the right thing to do and easy, but something else tells me, that this would be a very stupid idea. I wasn‘t happy. My head was quiet, but something else just wasn‘t.
Then i took Vyvanse. This was a crazy experience at the beginning (today, it still feels like magic, but magic also feels normal after you saw it enough times). On the first day i took Vyvanse, something snapped temporary. I did EVERYTHING. The stress felt good, the challenges were exiting. Everything just worked. I was loaded with euphoria and i wanted to do and learn everything at the same time. And i did, for a few weeks.
After some time passed, i felt paralyzed. Way worse than before. I was so overwhelmed (and i‘m still today). I have „phases“ where i do absolutely(!) nothing for 1 - 2 weeks. I‘m not relaxed in that time, i‘m constantly thinking. The medication gives me the ability to think in such a clear way, that i‘m maybe „too focused“ while thinking. The barrier i mentioned is also back again, but the motivation and the feeling, that i want to do and learn everything is still there. You can‘t imagine, how free and also caged this situation lets me feel at the same time. I didn‘t even know, that this was a thing. I COULD do everything. I WANT to do all those things. But i‘m not allowed to. I tried for the last 6 months to discipline myself by having a daily routine in which i check off a list of things i need to do. I got so much help from friends, family and psychologists but it feels just like 6 months ago. The moment, nobody is there to remember me about this „training“, i lost everything i learned. As if i was never capable to life the 6 months as i did.
Medication is absolutely fantastic. I never felt bad or ill because of the medication itself. Most of the time when i felt bad was whenever i didn‘t took the medication. Not, because i needed it, but because i realized every single time, how i felt before i took it. And even though the medication gives me the ability to „wanting“ to do all those things, i can‘t, what makes me indirectly feel bad because of the medication. It‘s just chaotic.
My next step is behavioral(?) therapy. I have to admit, i always thought that this wouldn‘t help and i still do. But a lot of people will never understand, how impossible big this barrier feels. And i say „feels“, because i also know, that i had moments, when that barrier was not there (Koffein, Medications and random euphoria boosts). So it is possible. This is the only thought that gives me hope. If i can feel like this sometimes, then i should be able to „learn“ how to trigger that or atleast how to not trigger the barrier.
Sorry for my bad english. I read a few comments and thought, i‘ll contribute to the stories

I found the medication - Elvanse to be of limited benefit. I had the initial euphoria from it and being more alert but in terms of symptoms was of marginal improvement. When I stopped taking it my life didn’t fall apart and I’ve already learnt to compensate for most of my inattentiveness.
Also I could only see increasing the dose age as the only way as my body got used to the medication. My worries were the long term side effects such as increasing blood pressure and heart rate and also the cost of seeing a ADHD specialist. A 20 min session is £220 for one based in Harley Street. There’s also a shortage of ADHD medication and I suspect those who are really struggling need it more than I do.

I do see it as a disability. I feel like I can’t function as a normal adult. It makes me hate myself and the “perks” of having ADHD such as being extremely creative serve to nothing in our society. Will this pay my bills? No. So, unfortunately, it’s useless. I get very amazing drawing ideas but can’t even execute them all and plus I can’t sell my drawings, so yeah, another way of me being useless and feeling incompetent.

Thats not what ADHD medicine is supposed to be used for, but it happened to me anyways.
It took years to concure that fear of trying medicine. I was in control this time, so there would be no overdosing. Regardless none of the medicines worked for me. The sterratera and how it was used might of permanently caused problems, or I just never got proper treatment so my brain didn't know what to do on meds.

I need help! I suffer from adhd a d had 6 or 7 doctors diagnosed me over many years. Recently, my doctor retired, and now I can't get help. I lived on meds for years without any issues. Meds helped me quite a bit, but now I don't know where to go or what to do.
Doctors are impossible to get in to see in my area.
I recently lost my job, and the overwhelming nightmare I am now in is going to leave me homeless. I am currently ok, but I am afraid if I don't get help, I could end up far worse off.
I am female, 56 years old and 5', and I have no criminal past.
Please help me get help with meds, etc.

I'm praying to Jesus Christ to heal you mentally, spiritually and physically and also everyone suffering with this and any other challenge in life. Always remember challenges are meant to be overcome. Please keep researching to find what will best benefit you to live an enjoyable life. Many great inventions are always created because of challenges and obstacles that were causing great oppression. I'm praying for you and please be encouraged, I know it's difficult because my daughter has adhd. Here is a scripture I want to share from Isaiah 41:10 - So do not fear, for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Most people do not understand this condition, therefore, they do not understand you. You need to like yourself. Tell yourself you are awesome every day and believe it! You have probably been "put down" a lot due to your behavior which causes a negative self-image. Do not hate yourself, love yourself! There is a solution!
Have you sought medication and/or therapy? How about physical exercise (both muscle building and cardio)? You might be surprised how well medication and exercise work. Medication can be tricky. Try different ones if the doctor will entertain it. You'll know when you get the right one. Some people can get better with LOTS of daily exercises alone.
ADHD is different for everyone. You may have an associated condition making you feel the way you do. Again, talk to a doctor specializing in ADHD. Sometimes they are psychiatrists and sometimes they are pediatricians known as "behavior specialists."
You might try a hormone consult at a hormone clinic (e.g., testosterone). Both males and females report mental health improving with testosterone. This makes sense because t stimulates the hypothalamus.

Like the analogy, but not the answer…Kids need to be kids and meds don’t afford them that without unknown future risks. Why are recesses 20 minutes in an 8 hour school day?? Why do kids have to wake up super early for school (0550 for mine)? There has to be a change in culture to break this trend of increasing diagnoses!

    • @dannyvalward1524
      @dannyvalward1524 Год назад +1

@@meaninglessimulation The answer is not that cut n dry, because ADHS is the symtom, it doesn't have one clear cause. Most people need to find a specialist and experiment with the medication till they find their right mix. Adderall is not the only option. Additionaly to medical treatment therapy and/or coaching mostly regarding daily structure, social interaction, impulscontrol and self-esteem is adviced. Exercise should always be part of the process. Sometimes with the right treatment medication can be reduced to a minimum or none, other times it's a life long thing.

    • @uniquechannelnames
      @uniquechannelnames 7 месяцев назад

I wouldnt say dangerous, for MOST people with ADHD. Some people with very severe adhd do stuff like pour boiling water on their arm cause they were draining pasta and reached to grab something on the other side of boiling water theyre pouring out. So yeah for some people it can be dangerous. For most people it will just ruin your life slowly as your show up to work late constantly (even though you work great when AT work), miss deadlines, have a way higher chance for addictions. A lot of stuff.
But it's not dangerous km the same way a diabetic not having insulin is dangerous.

And? If you're sick with a bad infection, do you not take antibiotics? Or other pills for other issues? Yes, it's not the end all be all but it's a decent start. If you're doing everything you can, you don't even have to be on the meds long-term.
