All this no coolant stuff has me thinking, what if one could spray through the cooling system with liquid nitrogen or something? Could run track meets with no liquid coolant other than a bottle of liquid nitrogen.
to cold, engines need to run 180f to 220f, Nitromethane (not to be confused with nitrous) drag cars don't run any coolant and often fill the water jacket with "concrete" to stiffen the block, sometimes they actually have a problem where they don't get hot enough because it burns so much cooler then regular gasoline . Also "back in the day" muscle car guys would take off the water pump belt to reduce parasitic losses , but they weren't running 1,300hp and still had water in the block which still adsorb heat.

Yalls gaskets really saved the day. without those rings, for sure it would have torched the block or the head, that would have been _THAT._ Your gaskets saved the motor, kept it running, and even after lifting the head *again* (not your fault, those damn skinny studs are weak) the rings kept things intact for 5 more passes with no water, resulting in a World First and blasting their own World Record to bits. You couldn't write a better sales pitch. After seeing this I'd say it's a mistake to use any other type. Proof's in the pudding, boys.

Just rewatched for the third time since he posted this video and man I still can’t stop smiling at it. That car, this man is freaking savage. Such a great story and he broke the record on a hurt motor, at the limit of every part in that motor, running back to back passes with no coolant. Leroy’s like “just slows me down” lol. I mean who else on this planet can say I have the record for the first GM car in the 7’s and I did it with no coolant in my motor. Just insane. Goes to show that man and machine can do great things together. This is why non car people will never understand us car people, they think that it’s just some car but it’s not just some car to us. When you pour blood, sweat, tears and long frustrating nights into that car it becomes more than a car it becomes part of you and there is and always will be a bond with you and that car. Such an awesome story man. Hell yeah brother, hell yeah. 🤟
This was great entertainment, I'll seen all episodes from the beginning of Leroy. Cleetus should put The 7s Leroy the Savage to some Corvette museum as it is now, next to all these great youtube videos and pictures from Leroy the Savage evolutions from burnout contest to 7's. Cleetus your next project should be "Leroy 2.0", make better version of Leroy from c7 Corvette, strip it down, make Carbonfibre body kit, stronger cage, big tyres, bigger engine, turbos, etc and aim for 6's with stick shift.
I heard the car fall on its face near the end, its clear as day the car was running on its last leg. If he had held up just a bit longer, I have no doubts you could have gotten into the upper 7.7s. But, that engine held together that long, without water and a gasket half gone... that is DAMNED impressive! Way to go guys!!!! Leroy just became my new spirit animal :D

I love how people from texas speed flew in to deliver the headgaskets and supported the no water runs to get the 7s, even the crew at BMSP were helping keep the track optimal to help get this done. Cleet has some good people around him and the future is insane where all this goes.

Maybe his quarter mile time as a promods 8th mile LOL but my uncle runs 3.80s and the 8th and he still watches every Leroy and Cletus video with me at work lol
Promods run well into the 5s they ran in the 6s since 90s. The car is fast for what it is. Fastest stick car with stock type trans setup. That's where it ends though. There's guys with stock suspensions on 275s running 3s in the 8th at 200mph. They've done great but let's not get carried away here lol..
Everyday I Google the word "Corvette" just to see whats out there. I get results from the new C8 prototype to a rare barn find......but today....today I got results that titled "Corvette "Leroy" is the first GM stick shift vehicle to run in the 7's!!!" YOU DID IT!!!!!

If you ever wanted good advertising on durability, seeing your engine block run down the track many times without water(oil does do a significant amount of cooling too!), and have it not blow up under a full stress, high boost pass like that...
I don't diminish the quality of their build one bit, but something occurred to me - alcohol cars have been running no coolant, filled blocks for ages. This runs E90, so 90 percent alcohol. Kind of makes sense it could do it, so long as the rest of the build is solid enough - and clearly it was.
travon lawrence They dont change out the block every 2 passes, maybe each day, but they do change almost everything else every couple of passes, especially since their clutches weld together after almost every pass

No coolant, blown head gasket , push start and still ran a 7.8sec, Chevy's don't break down, they just shed unnecessary parts and go faster.
No coolant = weight reduction
No coolant - don't have resistance from water pump.

All this no coolant stuff has me thinking, what if one could spray through the cooling system with liquid nitrogen or something? Could run track meets with no liquid coolant other than a bottle of liquid nitrogen.
to cold, engines need to run 180f to 220f, Nitromethane (not to be confused with nitrous) drag cars don't run any coolant and often fill the water jacket with "concrete" to stiffen the block, sometimes they actually have a problem where they don't get hot enough because it burns so much cooler then regular gasoline . Also "back in the day" muscle car guys would take off the water pump belt to reduce parasitic losses , but they weren't running 1,300hp and still had water in the block which still adsorb heat.

Yalls gaskets really saved the day. without those rings, for sure it would have torched the block or the head, that would have been _THAT._ Your gaskets saved the motor, kept it running, and even after lifting the head *again* (not your fault, those damn skinny studs are weak) the rings kept things intact for 5 more passes with no water, resulting in a World First and blasting their own World Record to bits.
You couldn't write a better sales pitch. After seeing this I'd say it's a mistake to use any other type. Proof's in the pudding, boys.

But what they don't realise is that not having the body panels on is actually a disadvantage...The wind tunnel vid made that perfectly clear. And I believe Leroy is even heavier than a regular C5. Just rewatched for the third time since he posted this video and man I still can’t stop smiling at it. That car, this man is freaking savage. Such a great story and he broke the record on a hurt motor, at the limit of every part in that motor, running back to back passes with no coolant. Leroy’s like “just slows me down” lol. I mean who else on this planet can say I have the record for the first GM car in the 7’s and I did it with no coolant in my motor. Just insane. Goes to show that man and machine can do great things together. This is why non car people will never understand us car people, they think that it’s just some car but it’s not just some car to us. When you pour blood, sweat, tears and long frustrating nights into that car it becomes more than a car it becomes part of you and there is and always will be a bond with you and that car. This was great entertainment, I'll seen all episodes from the beginning of Leroy. Cleetus should put The 7s Leroy the Savage to some Corvette museum as it is now, next to all these great youtube videos and pictures from Leroy the Savage evolutions from burnout contest to 7's. Cleetus your next project should be "Leroy 2.0", make better version of Leroy from c7 Corvette, strip it down, make Carbonfibre body kit, stronger cage, big tyres, bigger engine, turbos, etc and aim for 6's with stick shift.
The C7 is not a good starting point, he'd want a C6 if he wants to do 6s.

I heard the car fall on its face near the end, its clear as day the car was running on its last leg. If he had held up just a bit longer, I have no doubts you could have gotten into the upper 7.7s. But, that engine held together that long, without water and a gasket half gone... that is DAMNED impressive! Way to go guys!!!! Leroy just became my new spirit animal :D

Promods run well into the 5s they ran in the 6s since 90s. The car is fast for what it is. Fastest stick car with stock type trans setup. That's where it ends though. There's guys with stock suspensions on 275s running 3s in the 8th at 200mph. They've done great but let's not get carried away here lol..

Speaks volumes to the quality of the work they do. If you ever wanted good advertising on durability, seeing your engine block run down the track many times without water(oil does do a significant amount of cooling too!), and have it not blow up under a full stress, high boost pass like that...
I don't diminish the quality of their build one bit, but something occurred to me - alcohol cars have been running no coolant, filled blocks for ages. This runs E90, so 90 percent alcohol. Kind of makes sense it could do it, so long as the rest of the build is solid enough - and clearly it was.
