First, I’m so glad Marcel is better. Prayers for you, Marcel. Yaakov has such a great and unique collection. The one piece that just blew me away was the Lou Whitaker Polaroid that he was able to have signed. What a cool item. 🤩 Lou Whitaker is from Martinsville, VA. Hooker Field used to be where the minor league Martinsville Phillies played. Now the Martinsville Mustangs are the local team. The field has recently been renamed in honor of Lou Whitaker……”Hooker Field at Lou Whitaker Park”. Yaakov, if you ever decide to sell that wonderful item, please let me know. Ty and Matt, you guys rock! I’ll be dreaming about Polaroids tonight, especially that one.

Small world! Been friends w/Yaakov for maybe 10 years on Facebook. He’s been chasing the 1/xxxx for many, many years. Went to shoot him a Facebook message to clarify if that was actually him (never met in person). He had the episode shared to his Facebook lol

Won’t sell on eBay but will prolly pay way more than the 13% eBay fees to have them consign the collection and will prolly go for much less overall on what not. Cant beat the world wide reach of eBay
I hear that. The time and all dealing with listing, selling and shipping and then if buyers want to f around just wasn’t what I wanted. Also it’s about 2k cards they are selling so it’s a lot of work. I also thought it would be fun to do and I like the whole vibe of Ty and Chasing Cardboard, so I’m happy we are making it happen. If I don’t squeeze every penny out I’m ok too. Time cost money as well.
I agree!!! Love them or hate them, you can't beat "the reach" of EBay!! I laugh when people complain about fees...13% is VERY FAIR considering their incredible platform. I work in Finance. I pay around 35% in fees every month to my Broker-Dealer....13% is nothing to me! I love EBay
13% ebay fee, plus the taxes. 100k of ebay sales is a 18k tax bill
I laugh when I see people complaining about EBay fees. I'm a Financial Advisor. I pay around 35% PER MONTH in fees to my Broker-Dealer! It amounts to around $1,600-$1,800 or so per month! You can't beat EBay. Their platform is AWESOME and you're reaching MILLIONS of people!

Yea idk about whatnot, I’ve used it a good amount and cards get grossly underpriced a good amount of the time… it’s a buyers dream and a sellers nightmare, you need to set the prices close to asking if you want to get more or what they are worth
It’s all about having enough people/bidders in the room. A lot of guys will get crushed but the ones who build an audience do well
They probably enjoy the peace of mind and timed saved by moving inventory quickly & in bulk sales. Win win for everyone!
@@game7productions49that’s exactly what’s it about. Bigger guys in the hobby with the right audience get more than what items are sometimes. And people who don’t get crushed. That’s why EBay is still king unless you have the audience. Or pwcc with the right items

I can't imagine the diligence it took to put that collection together. I built a NM-MT set of 1979 Topps baseball years back with all at least 60/40 centering and that was hard enough but nothing like finding these #1 cards. Jacov is someone I would buy from sight unseen...very trustworthy collector. I would put you in the same league Ty.

I’d love to hear from ultra modern collectors. I collect mostly 80’s/90’s and rookies are the goto cards, plain and simple.
For ultra modern collectors is there that much demand for a numbered card that isn’t a rookie? It just seems like the Wild West now and everyone is driven to numbered cards. Do people really value a non-rookie low numbered Pujols card over his rookie Topps Chrome non-numbered card?

Sweet Lou was my guy back in the day growing up in MI. Great to see him get some name recognition and what a cool piece of his history! My 10 year old self had to have everything with his name or likeness on it and built quite the Louuuuuu collection but have never seen that. My prize piece is a home run ball I caught from him in Lakeland and had him sign it after the game
