Well, a lot of people try to cross at railroad crossings and get hit by trains because they don't see the train coming, so it's not as far-fetched as you think.
“Well done Percy, you started so quickly that you stopped a nasty accident!” I never got this part. I mean wasn’t Gordon was the one who stopped? Why is he congratulating Percy when Percy should be the one congratulating Gordon?
Can anyone explain why Gordon congratulated Percy for preventing a crash in 6:05? In 4:06, it was Gordon who prevented the crash when he was able to stop right in front of Percy, THEN Percy ran away. It would make sense for Gordon to congratulate Percy if Percy ran away BEFORE Gordon stopped, but this isn’t the case. Is this some sort of story inconsistency or have I misunderstood the text?
The text is vague (and the TV version gets it wrong) but Percy is meant to have started moving before Gordon stopped. It's based on an actual incident where the same thing happened.
@@supermariof0521 If an engine is waiting at a signal on the main line for (I think) more than 5 minutes, a member of the crew needs to go to the signal box to remind the signalman of their presence and ensure that proper measures are in place to keep the train protected.
@@supermariof0521 Hi Fire Dust, it's my first time back on in a few days but I saw your other comments in my notifications. I'm sure you realize this by now but Awdry intentionally wrote Percy violating rule 55 as a plot point. After all Percy is an industrial tank. He probably never worked on the main line before coming to Sodor so it's believable he wouldn't know why Rule 55 is important.
Another one of my favorite stories from the railway series
3:22 gordon went... **Dying noises**
I love how an signalman, could forget a huge tank engine. which is basically right infront of his eyes!

He wasn’t looking outside as he wasn’t expecting an engine. He pulled the correct levers, sent the message, and went back to other work.
Or he just dozed off.

In the books, Percy started moving as Gordon inched closer. In the TV adaption, Percy moved once Gordon fully stopped
The quote u listed was made by Gordon... Should Gordon be congratulating himself?
Both tried to stop the accident because Percy was trying to reverse but he was going about 1 mile per hour.
I suppose Gordon was just trying to cheer Percy up.
PERCY IS CUTE LITTLE ENGINE ❤🎉
Always loved this stories hairs would stand on end in TV series version as Gordon manages to stop and skids with driving wheels locked.
This was extremely good
Anyone notice that Morris' James sounds like the March Hare from Alice in Wonderland?

Gordon is just happy not to be destroyed
Jeremy Aguero copyright 2016 With Gordon’s boastful personality, he would continue to tease Percy rather than congratulate him.

Good point, what a confusing way to go.
Percy violated rule 55.
Which is......

@@charliesandno2 On second thought I remembered that in the book/episode, Edward did warn Percy to whistle to the signalman that he's there.

@@charliesandno2 Yeah I realized that. That's why I deleted my comments. Sorry my comments sounded forceful.

This book tells Annie and Clarabel's names when their names should have been told from Thomas and the Breakdown Train
Readers actually learned their names in 1949 from Tank Engine Thomas Again
