seeing the older footage with the morgan trains is genuinely jarring now, even though I first heard of this coaster and got interested in it back when it still had them
Ridden this 4 times. It's an absolute beast. The B&M trains are incredible too! Am I right in thinking that those trains are the only ones by B&M that are 2 seats per row? Hakugei has taken the crown of best coaster at Nagashima, but SD2000 will always be the most iconic imo.
Having riden this coaster a couple of times a decade ago when I lived in Japan, I can confirm it is without a doubt my favorite coaster I've ever ridden.
I rode it September 2019, and it was a great ride ... with terrible ops. I will always remember being stuck in the test seat for nearly 10 minutes, until people finally entered the queue to help me out . Single rider problems. 😄
I rode it in april, last year. Was an awesome experience. The funniest part is that a lot of the native Japanese people take off their shoes when riding it...!
I know it's a bit late, but for April Fools, you should do "what is [insert random roller coaster here]?" Then the video is "it's a roller coaster" then it ends.
@@CyberBlastStudios Some are (the one in Gatlinburg is one such example). Others aren't necessarily complete circuit; they have a separate loading and unloading platform. They run the trains empty up the lift hill, occasionally hidden beyond sight.
i definitely think both types of giga coasters have a place, which means we absolutely SHOULD see more airtime coasters, but not replace all the speed ones with them. really i think we just need more coasters in general.
Air time is best time. My closest large airtime coaster, Goliath in Walibi (NL) has a large airtime hill right after it's first drop, and 3 camel humps right before the final turn. It's so good to get lifted out of your seat when there's only snug comfortable lap bars.
This is one of my favorite coasters. I was lucky to go there off season, so i could ride it a few times in a row. The other attractions in the park back then were pretty underwhelming though
This was one of the best coaster videos I've ever seen; too many things to say. But to answer your question at the end: I'd LOVE to see more airtime hills right after the 1st drop of a giga coaster and I'm sure I'd like the B&M trains, but I could do without the 15 second long helixes. (BTW there are 7 airtime hills at the end; not six.) I'd like to see a B&M Giga with a drop of at least 98M and a layout like Diamondback, with two untrimmed airtime hills before any turnaround, but I'd be as impressed with the more likely possibility that a park would purchase an RMC T-Rex track 1st and still deliver the same stats (and many more elements in the latter half of the ride) as the "Giga Diamondback" of my dreams at a cheaper cost. But I'm not exactly holding my breath right now, due to the virus. Thanks for this fantastic video: It's therapy in these times.
Thank you, that really means a lot. I'd love to see it also, a giga Diamondback sounds great. I think it's all down to space and cost though. The amount of space in a straight line required for a drop, 2 hills and a turnaround would be insane! As for the airtime hills on Steel Dragon, there are 6 at the end, not including the drop off the mid-course or the ascent into the final break run. :)
@@coasterbot You're absolutely correct about that: Playland in Vancouver plans to to invest $100,000,000.00 and I hope they DON'T get a B&M as it'd blow through too much of that $ whatever (especially considering an RMC is more budget friendly.) We can agree about the amount of final airtime hills on SD 2000: Whilst I did initially count the drop off the MCBR I didn't count the rise into the EBR, but considering you don't count it either that makes it 6
Another park and coaster that's high on my bucket list. :) I had no idea about the double chain lift! I know that Intamin solved this problem for Millennium Force using the cable lift given that chains at the time got too heavy for the motors pulling them when they reach a certain length. It's a pretty cool idea and I'm curious as to how it feels going up that lift hill when engaging the second chain lift. ;) Again, another awesome video!
I rode this back in 2018 and its a very impressive ride but its quite tame and the airtime isnt there that much, the speed is immense but other than that it felt like a giant giant family coaster
As long as I don't come out of my seat like most coasters, I'm all in for the thrill! Rather ride a roller coaster than a farris wheel, terrified of faris wheels!!!
I knew Morgan did Arrow/Vekoma-styled tracks, but I didn't know they made Togo-styled tracks ! Hence why I always thought that Togo made this coaster ^^ ! Now at least I know the truth ^^
Great video yet again! But I still don't get why a 'giga' is bigger than a 'hyper', hyper sounds way bigger than the word giga... But that could be just me
Recommended before ride, 2 double cheeseburgers, loaded, small chili cup, fried Twinkies and slosh it all down with large banana, chocolate chip shake & side of onion rings! Kidding folks, ease up. Yet it's a new requirement to ride the coaster all day for Free, LOL
Morgan is really second generation arrow I would love to ride this because B&m makes great trains so you have 2 iconic companies coming together on this I’d bet the B&m trains would be putting a lot more load on that track because of the weight
@@danielledewitt1 He's referring to the testicles being forced up and down by the G-forces of the ride, causing a strange tingling feeling in the scrotum. It's pretty unpleasant in my opinion, but not worth giving up on riding roller coasters.
I didn't know that steel dragon was based off of mamba, I thought that it was just another Morgan coaster Its awesome that WoF has had a influence somewhere. I feel like it is a heavily overlooked park both by customers and owners lot of history here like the first coaster with a batwing was here at one point.
I like airtime hills that are shorter kinda like Roar-O-Saurus at Storyland and Wicked Cyclone at Six Flags New England. I feel like when airtime hills are shorter, The coaster gets powerful and intense and the 2 coasters pack a punch
It doesn't go upside down. I don't want to go on a coaster that doesn't go upside down. And I don't see it splashing into water at the bottom of the drop. What's up with that?
0:45 No it wasn’t. Moonsault Scramble at Fuji-Q was the first coaster to break the 200 foot barrier, but it was never dubbed a “hyper” coaster because it wasn’t full circuit. Magnum was only referred to as the first “hyper” coaster, never the first 200 foot tall coaster, because Moonsault Scramble broke the record 6 years early, but was a shuttle coaster. Sorry for the rant, just no one gives Fuji-Q and Meisho enough credit. lol
You're right. This comes down to the full-circuit vs shuttle coaster comparison. It's too repetitive to reference full-circuit everytime a record is mentioned. Most consider only full-circuit roller coasters to be record breaking because the train reaches the maximum height of the ride. :)
COASTER BOT, ohhhh that explains a lot. It did reach almost 230 ft, so I think it definitely broke the 200 foot mark. Oh well. Someone should do the math by looking at a bunch of pictures of shuttle coasters to see how high the trains actually go. That’d be a good video.
I would argue that it is, the height record hasn't been broken in over a decade! Even other records haven't been broken it a large number of years too, like speed, length and inversions!
It has a support structure to make it happen boy if it did steel Vengeance and iron Gwazi are officially child’s play and we have the GOAT on are hands

nah man, more like _Wooden Pig 2025_
I think thats my favorite fact about this ride. That the second hill is taller than like 98% of all other rollercoasters.

@@coasterbot It is! Rode it 9 times in one day over New year's. Easily, my number one coaster.
If I recall correctly Diamondback at Kings Island also has B&M trains with 2 per row
Eth N, not really. Those seats are staggered, so even if you’re in the second row, you’re still effectively riding the front row.
Right now the only other coaster from b&m with 2 on a row is the new surf coaster

smart!
I knew it bro worlds of fun is my home park and when I saw steel dragon I thought mamba was so similar. Thanks for clearing this up for me.
I like how this layout is basically goliath at walibi hollands but everything doubled amd the helixes shuffled around.
Goliath came later tho

Blame Cedar Point I guess! And thank you :)
After B&M built the trains for Steel Dragon 2000, why didn't they modify that lift hill so that it goes faster. Because that lift hill is slow.
personally i think slow lift hills adds to the suspense of rides and makes them that much better.
Probably for how long the lift hill is, the fact it has two chain lifts because of how heavy the chain is and how long the lift is
Well, they bought brand new trains which are way too expensive, modify the entire lift hill would be way too expensive as well.
Can you do a video on cannibal at lagoon park?
