    Update: This video was made this past summer....The first watermelon, when picked, was 162lbs, the 2nd weighed in at 170lbs!!
    Let's keep running the race towards the return of Jesus to make "all things new." He really is gonna create the "age to come" where we have resurrected bodies on the new earth, and He will rule from the throne of David in Jerusalem!!! This hope is so thrilling! Let's "grow" our faith in Jesus until the day we get that big reward! :)

    How often do you fertilize and how much of the 10-10-10 do you use and do you mix with water or just put the granules on top of the soil

      With this plant, I didn't do that much fertilizer. Maybe 3 cups a week of granular fertilizer sprinkled around the roots of it. I didn't mix it with water; just sprinkled it. I am by no means an expert, but it seemed to work well.
      In my opinion, the best thing for this melon wasn't the fertilizer but rather the no-till woodchip mulch. Several years back I put 12 inches of chips over the whole orchard area, and by the time I planted this watermelon, those chips had broken down into beautiful compost. You can't beat thick mulch, it breaks down so nice! In fact, all of the giant melons I grow are in areas that were never tilled! Just mulch right on top of the yard. Hope this helps.

    What type of fertilizer do you use?

    • @bearingmuchfruit4jesus
      @bearingmuchfruit4jesus  8 месяцев назад +1

      The only fertilizer I used this year was a little bit of regular 10-10-10 from our nearby feedstore. This year I probably won't use any though.

      @@Raineys-Comics the melons in the video weren’t grafted, but I have before! I used Bushel Gourd rootstock one year and it worked well. :)

      @@bearingmuchfruit4jesus Awesome!! I haven’t learned that skill yet . Going to try grafting next year . I’ve got one currently at 120lb . It has until October, before I pull it . Great videos !! What’s your location ?

    • @bearingmuchfruit4jesus
      @bearingmuchfruit4jesus  4 месяца назад +1

      @@Raineys-Comics oh awesome! You should totally try it! As you probably know, there are quite a few different ways to graft. I found that the most helpful strategy wasn’t necessarily which graft technique I used, but rather being very gentle and slow with weening then out of the healing/humidity chamber. (Which for me was just a plastic container that I regularly sprayed warm water with a spray bottle into. I’m sure there’s a much better and more controlled way to do it obviously. lol)
      God bless you! One day closer to the King’s return!

      Many seed companies sell the 'Carolina Cross' variety. I know burpeeseeds.com has them, and I'm sure other companies as well.
