You can wash with hot water to open the cuticle but rinse the conditioner with cold water to seal the cuticle back down. That's how we learned in cosmetology school to do the hair in general. Should probably do the same with the shower in general.
I take my normal warmer shower while washing. After drying off, before drying my beard, I do a very cold rinse in the sink right before applying oil. Then I straighten it and it feels smooth all day. But yes, the cold water is key! I even do a cold air blast after straightening.
@@RealMenGetItDone any tips for battling humid weather? I pretty much fail during those months and those are the months that we’re supposed to be having fun and feeling confident. Not with a wispy, frizzed out beard. 😂
Hot water opens your pours. I’ve heard of this too. I’ve heard that you’re suppose to wash with hot water and rinse with cold or cooler water so that it closes your pours back
It depends on what your trying to accomplish. For shaves like when you go to the barber, you'll get the hot towel treatment to open the pores...then after your done some type of aftershave which cools/closes the pores...u don't want that for your beard...as it can damage it..so cool water EVERY time is the best method! Hope that makes sense.
Yes bro you got to do it...I just did a newer video explaining a little more about what the hair does in hot water (its about bald head care but it's the same principle). check it out ruclips.net/video/XhBwNWyGM44/видео.html and see if it adds any value. I'm a little rougher with my straightener; I crank it up as high as it will go, but to each his own. My beard isn't anywhere as thick as yours. The other thing the straightener does is that it allows you to see split ends better. It's probably a little harder for a beard as thick as yours, but on a shorter one (about an inch), you'll want to cut back those split ends to keep the beard healthy & growing. Just cut it back to the split. If it's further down the shaft, I wouldn't sweat it; those hairs will usually end up shedding anyway. Y'all make sure your hair is DRY before using that straightener. You will singe your hairs and possibly burn yourself if its still wet when you use it.
Hot water strips the products you use in your hair (beard) but it's not harmful. Understand you must replenish the moisture i.e. conditioners and beard oils. This is universal not black or white male or female. Good luck guys
appreciate the contribution..yeah I agree to some degree, not necessarily harmful but from experience my beard is more easily manageable keeping the cool water routine..you gotta do what works for you!

Great vid! Thanks! I have 1 question: when do you use that hot beard comb? Do u use it straight out if the shower, after you condition it, ..like when should you use it? And should your beard be a little damp or completely dry when you use it?
great question, from experience I have used it both dry or damp...damp always works a little easier of course...so if it's your first go at it, maybe right after the shower...put a little product in your beard and then use it...the key is not leaving it on your hair for a long period of time...as I believe the heat could damage your beard. good luck and thanks for connecting!!!
