I was so lucky to witness this while it was happening. I’m on the west coast so that I was lucky enough to wake up and unexpectedly see this is a very good memory.
The Barker gets the Gold Medal 🥇 for her earth Shattering Bark, Paul R Tregurtha gets the silver 🥈 and the McCarthy gets the Bronze 🥉 in the Horn Contest
Wow. A triple header. That was so cool. Love seeing all the ships. It looks like the regular captain is back on the Barker. It was good to hear the long master salute. Welcome back captain. Thanks for sharing.
He is. He's been back for about a week. Last time she was in Duluth, I knew her Captain was back, because he really lets the horns roar. I love hearing the echo from them when he's done too.
Now that is just amazing to see. One following right behind the other. And one at granny’s speed to allow them to come in. Lol Thank you so much for sharing this. Good morning everyone. Have a great weekend 🤗
I watched it live this morning. Thanks for posting this with the audio. Really enjoyed listening to the radio traffic between the three ships and between the ships and the bridge. Nice of the PRT to let the bridge lower to clear the traffic on the road.
Thank you, thank you for putting this 3fer together! I don't get up at 6am anymore. Enjoyed the calls back and forth, as always! Of course, loved hearing the Barker "Bark".
What an Ultimate Highlight video.! Wow 3 1,000 footers. At Sunrise. And for The Finally The Queen of The Lakes!! The Paul R. It Doesn’t get any Better!....... Love the radio traffic in the video!
I'm over a thousand miles to the east in Boston, Massachusetts, but am enjoying the heck out of this channel. I've long wanted to get out thattaway and to the Soo Locks as well for a visit. Perhaps later this fall. Quick Question: Are the townhouses on the harbor side of the channel privately owned dwellings or are they bed and breakfasts or some such?
There’s a lot of large hotels behind these cams, as well as smaller inns and B&Bs on the south (camera facing) side. There’s also some private houses scattered in there. Most of Duluth’s tourist zone is behind the cams, or are often mounted on top of main attractions. The canal is just part of it!
Is my memory bad, or did I hear it wrong the first time? I was watching live when these three boats came in/ went out, and I distinctly remember the James R Barker giving a THREE LONG, two short salute. We even discussed that in chat. And NOTICE, the bridge DID return a THREE long, two short salute.
It's an attention call so other radio traffic will give way to the ship giving the broadcast. It's intended to cut off any radio chatter and give priority to a ship moving in or out, especially when they are that large.
oh I LOVE the James R Barker's horn! What a wonderful Master's salute that was. The radio traffic is most appreciated!
She sure draws out the low notes! Wonderful!
He growls like a predator!!!
@@RolandMueller-xu8rv certainly does!
What a treat to hear the James R Barker's horn this morning from my house up on the hill. It's like an ancient Celtic war horn.
I'm glad I'm not the only who thinks of battles of old when she barks
Very nice, thanks for including the radio audio! 😀

That was an impressive show. Three of my favorites, back to back to back!! Opening salvo of the Bark-- WOW!! Welcome back, Captain!!

Thanks James R. Barker I'm now awake here in Idaho....what a bark.
I love watching and listening. Thank you to everyone that makes this happen every day.

Captain Newland
Duluth is a great looking place to be. Excellent pictures and video. Nice lighthouse too 😊👍
I think the Barkers captain loves that horn as much as I do.
He does. He knows how distinctive it is and likes it that way!
That horn is absolutely crazy I wish all the ships did that but then I guess it would be so special
Wow. That is a LOT of steel bobbing around there! 🤯
Now that is just amazing to see. One following right behind the other. And one at granny’s speed to allow them to come in. Lol Thank you so much for sharing this. Good morning everyone. Have a great weekend 🤗
Thanks, you too. Here it is 6 pm already. So cheers ; - )
Great cams DHC...awesome viewing this morning.
I wish I had joined the MM!!!
LOVE the BIG FREIGHTERS!!!

Images remarquables ! Spectacle impressionnant ! Un grand bonjour depuis le Nord de la France !

Stunning, majestic, awesome.
Goosebumps from head to toe when the Barkers horn blows!
Wow that would have been awesome to be there in person for this one.
Excellent video, this doesn’t happen very often I assume. What a thrill for the spectators.
Wow what a sight. Thank you
Wow, there was really something going on. Many greetings from Germany : - )
wonderful radio accompaniment 'thanks for your hustle' 'down to granny speed' - how delightful
I love listening to you guys communication to each other🤗🚢❤
What a ballet of giants.
Who doesn't love the Barkers bark!

I'm so glad you watch the Cam. My family came to the twin ports in the late 1890's. Such history here. Put it in your bucket list.
Great footage. Thank you.
I watched it live and love to see it saved here forever.
Nice video to start my morning off. Was very disappointed with the WJM. It seems like that ship never really let's the horns out.
Tregurtha "running down to granny speed". 🤣
Thanks Duluth Harbor 🤩

Yes, the master salute
Cool radio 📻 chatting love it that is very loud frog horn big time then blowing train horn.
A triple treat!
The Horn of Helm Hammerhand will sound in the deep, one last time! LOL
Question: at 9:17 anyone know what vessel that pilot house on the dock belonged to?
Second ship’s salute sounded like she had a bit of attitude behind it
One thing that will make you feel small is having to salute almost immediately after the Barker, that horn combination is second to none!
Good morning Duluth . Welcome home
Very cool!!!
Is the Paul R Tregurtha DRIFTING like a street car racer?
wjm i think that was the shortest salute I've ever heard...
I bet you could hear the Barker from across the lake lol 😅
Am I the only one that heard the Bridge response sounded a little "Barker-ish" when responding to the JRB?
Nope, I heard the secondary tone on the long blasts. It's not a particularly pleasant pitch combination, it sounds like a diminished fourth.
@@GaryGP40 it sounds way worse on this audio than in person
Gif every boat a salute if they passed the bridge👍👍😃😃😃
Wheeers captain Over? 😀
3 thousand+ ft of steel beauty
Quite busy for a Saturday morning
HOLY SHIPS!
The Walter J horn is kinda sad compared to the Barker's bark.
My old daycare ladies husband Dwayne runs the bridge
They should start a fund to replace that bridge horn. It’s terrible. The boats sound awesome. Bridge is annoying.
One of the best shots is at 4:20
👍
Three big boys, nice!
12:54 was that a train horn?
Cool
Granny speed 😢
Common Footer W
I wish the boats could be solar panel or be charged with wind energy
Sailors be aware lady on port side with out top .
Wife: Hi honey, how was your day? Husband: Ahh, traffic was a bear!
Why do they say security 3 times?

@@GaryGP40 Gary, thank you very much for explaining this!
