Ok everybody, calm down. Frankly, I don't think either of us "deserved" to be revived, given that we both got ourselves killed in fairly laughable ways. That being said, reviving Dodger, or anyone else for that matter, over me is not necessarily a bad decision. Everybody brings something different to the table. If you're upset that I'm gone from this season, you can always watch one of the previous seasons! (Except DayZ. That one is bad.) As for the remainder of this season, I have faith that they can do it without me (not spoilers, because I don't know what happens). I hope they do succeed, because I sure wasn't looking forward to farming those wither skulls again.... In conclusion, Dodger is awesome and DayZ sucks.

The way I see it, you could have given guidance on The Wither because I think you're the only person among them who's actually fought it (or at least looked it up). That aside, assuming SpaceHamster learned how to make potions since that one time three people died for mushrooms, one sword arm's as good as another this late in the game and Dodger has been swingin' pretty well. She went on the adventure to get the totem with full intentions of reviving Mcjones, and risked her life on a side-quest for that purpose. Obv. we would have revived Mcjones had Dodger literally not just died right as they all got home. Mcjones died early and we had to make a choice.

Then there is the fact that reviving Dodger made the last 3 episodes completely pointless. If you they hadn't gone into the woods to find the totem, nothing would have changed. Finally, yeh, dying in episode 2 to lava is pretty dumb, but surviving that whole quest only to die to a random creeper right in front of the house is even worst... I loved how they had the idea to bring someone back, it just made this season way more interesting. In a future season they should make it where someone has to be sacrificed to bring someone back or something
Serdyera yes, but you have to remember that this series is done for entertainment. While McJones knows a lot about the game, Dodger is a comedian, therefore she is better to include in the team as her and Dean paired together makes a funny and entertaining duo.
This is the last season with McJones, rewatching this I kinda wished they revived him, just so we could get the final season and a great farwell to McJones, instead of 2 episodes of him, just feeling this because this is his last season...
I don't hate dodger, hell I've been loving her contribution to the series, but this isn't gonna be a long HC season, and if it does end up being long, there will be fluff in between the real stuff. *sigh* It's truly sad to see how much "fans" of a series can turn against it because of one small thing that was intended to shake up an old formula. Sure, reviving Dodger may have its downsides, but that isn't to say reviving McJones wouldn't have any negative effects. He may better understand what he's doing, but if you want to watch a Minecraft series starring people who know everything, the "Search" function is at the top of the page, with hundreds if not thousands of other RUclipsrs just waiting to be discovered. Personally, I watch Hardcore not for the content of the game, but the personality of the players. Although I love McJones, it isn't like we'll never see him in a Hardcore again, nor that we've never had him before. Dodger, on the other hand, is a guest who brings new personality to the series- a personality we may never get on Hardcore again after she's gone. While I will admit that I expected McJones to be the revived one, him not getting picked definitely threw me off, which gave me new excitement and curiosity for the series. Stop watching if you'd like, but personally, I'm glad to have Dodger back in the game, and am looking forward to seeing what the remaining team can manage to accomplish!
Exactly! The joy of HC was in how much time they all spent fumbling around in the dark, even with McJones knowing more about the game than any of them. It would be so boring if they all knew what they were doing, and as you pointed out, there are a million other videos on RUclips of people who know everything about Minecraft doing this same stuff. While it's always a huge treat when they do finally win, the true entertainment comes from their journey

Cuz in game grumps, apparently there were a loooot of people who disliked suzy, so much so she moved her mgs V playthrough to kitty cat gaming. I totally could be wrong though. I only really had the one other show for reference. I just think it could be a factor.

Gonna just say that the whole revival scene made me so happy. I guess cause it’s the first time it’s ever happened in Hardcore history, so seeing someone come back from the grave was pretty awesome. Plus the group was really happy in the end, making me happy.

When I first saw this episode when it came out, I wasn't particularly mad, just thought it was an odd choice. Now that this season is long over and done with, it's just.... sad... Mcjones, one of the staples who generally knows what he's doing, dies in his final season in episode 2, and not very heroicly either. It's just a shame the last thing we will ever hear him say is "we need four more beds"... I wish he got revived now, but what can you do.
I see this series getting shot down, but I've been enjoying it a lot. The scripted bits change it up from normal hc and really make it interesting. And while I'm shocked that Dodger was chosen to be revived, I still look forward to seeing what happens. Good luck you guys!
Not at all, Dodger was the one who took initiative and went down the pitch black hole and got the item that allowed them to revive someome in the first place. Mcjones fell down a hole into lava.
+SamTheMarioMan I worded it incorrectly, meant to say Dodger had the initiative to go down the hole allowing them to get the totem. Didn't mean to say Dodger directly picked it up, but rather her actions lead to the capability of getting the totem. The others seemed very wary and unwilling to risk.
The most controversial episode in Hardcore history. Which could have been avoided if they: a) Actually showed the discussion (which probably included a bunch of meta talk about who would have been better for the show. I agree with their decision, Dodger is a guest and they have demonstrated enough competence to probably meet the goal. They probably anticipated the fans being more angry about bringing back McJones over the guest on top of that.) b) Include a seance-like exchange between the ghosts and the group, we're already introducing a bunch of RP elements so why not? I say this because McJones would have 100% gave the team the info they needed and elect to revive Dodger instead. This would have been a great scene and would have made the quest feel worth it. C) Elaborate on the decision through editing. There's a multitude of reasons that they could've elected not to revive Mcjones. It's likely that scheduling could have been an issue. Honestly, the way everyone plays it off makes it seem like it was Mcjones' decison not to come back.

I genuinely don't understand why there is so much hate and disappointment. The guys are just trying something new this season, and they had good reason to pick dodger. She was the person who had helped a lot more in the season so far, and she is a guest who probably wouldn't be in hard core again, at least for a while. As for the dramatacism, well, I love the new changes. The editing isn't dragging down the series either. Everybody just calm down a little. This is high quality content, and I, for one, love the new season so far. It needed a little spice anyways, to keep things interesting.

The beauty of a non-scripted gameplay series is that shit just HAPPENS and people deal with it however they deal with it. These aren’t characters in a pre-written story. But to say “McJones is better than Dodger,” or “wtf Dodger sucks tho,” and things like that, is plain shitty. It can be interesting to see an inexperienced player grow. Sure, reviving McJones would give them a higher chance of “winning,” but maybe their soul purpose in playing together in this series is not just to win. Izabel Huff the totem was a bad system to begin with. It was a cool concept when mcbonedbychad died. But they rezzed the 2 year old and dicked themselves over. Mcjones was better and cooler in my opinion.

Keep in mind, THEY made the decision. THEY know what they're getting into. Chances are they won't learn for another season if they brought back McJones, cause he'd just do everythign for them in terms of making potions and shit. While i've definitely enjoyed the team composition, jokes, editing and all that. This season is probably my least favorite so far because of the odd scripted stuff that it has (Though that doesn't mean i don't like this season. It's definitely got it's qualities). It's cool that you're trying something different with the series instead of just doing another plain season again but i'd honestly prefer that over a half-scripted season. Still though, great job Todd on the editing and the others for the silly yet very amusing entertainment!
I'd say it is the opposite, the story bits help make it more then another generic hardcore play, or another generic sky blocks. A large portion of Minecraft is vanilla and plain... which is a let down for a game about creativity.

So the whole quest for the totem just became a filler arc....... Dodger's sacrifice should have been used to revive McJones, it would have made a lot more sense story wise. People would have been praising her sacrifice right now, but everyone is bashing her instead for something that wasn't her fault. Dodger didn't choose to come back, everyone else did.

I don't hate dodger, hell I've been loving her contribution to the series, but this isn't gonna be a long HC season, and if it does end up being long, there will be fluff in between the real stuff. It's just McJones actually knows what to do and can remind everyone of their goal.

It's truly sad to see how much "fans" of a series can turn against it because of one small thing that was intended to shake up an old formula. Sure, reviving Dodger may have its downsides, but that isn't to say reviving McJones wouldn't have any negative effects. He may better understand what he's doing, but if you want to watch a Minecraft series starring people who know everything, the "Search" function is at the top of the page, with hundreds if not thousands of other RUclipsrs just waiting to be discovered. Personally, I watch Hardcore not for the content of the game, but the personality of the players. Although I love McJones, it isn't like we'll never see him in a Hardcore again, nor that we've never had him before. Dodger, on the other hand, is a guest who brings new personality to the series- a personality we may never get on Hardcore again after she's gone. While I will admit that I expected McJones to be the revived one, him not getting picked definitely threw me off, which gave me new excitement and curiosity for the series. Stop watching if you'd like, but personally, I'm glad to have Dodger back in the game, and am looking forward to seeing what the remaining team can manage to accomplish!

Exactly! The joy of HC was in how much time they all spent fumbling around in the dark, even with McJones knowing more about the game than any of them. It would be so boring if they all knew what they were doing, and as you pointed out, there are a million other videos on RUclips of people who know everything about Minecraft doing this same stuff. While it's always a huge treat when they do finally win, the true entertainment comes from their journey

I only really had the one other show for reference. I just think it could be a factor.

Gonna just say that the whole revival scene made me so happy. I guess cause it’s the first time it’s ever happened in Hardcore history, so seeing someone come back from the grave was pretty awesome. Plus the group was really happy in the end, making me happy.
To be fair, mcjones already won 2 hardcores, so I think it's fair to risk losing more to give somebody New a chance

When I first saw this episode when it came out, I wasn't particularly mad, just thought it was an odd choice. Now that this season is long over and done with, it's just.... sad... Mcjones, one of the staples who generally knows what he's doing, dies in his final season in episode 2, and not very heroicly either. It's just a shame the last thing we will ever hear him say is "we need four more beds"... I wish he got revived now, but what can you do.

Not at all, Dodger was the one who took initiative and went down the pitch black hole and got the item that allowed them to revive someome in the first place. Mcjones fell down a hole into lava.

+SamTheMarioMan I worded it incorrectly, meant to say Dodger had the initiative to go down the hole allowing them to get the totem. Didn't mean to say Dodger directly picked it up, but rather her actions lead to the capability of getting the totem. The others seemed very wary and unwilling to risk.
The most controversial episode in Hardcore history. Which could have been avoided if they:
a) Actually showed the discussion (which probably included a bunch of meta talk about who would have been better for the show. I agree with their decision, Dodger is a guest and they have demonstrated enough competence to probably meet the goal. They probably anticipated the fans being more angry about bringing back McJones over the guest on top of that.)
b) Include a seance-like exchange between the ghosts and the group, we're already introducing a bunch of RP elements so why not? I say this because McJones would have 100% gave the team the info they needed and elect to revive Dodger instead. This would have been a great scene and would have made the quest feel worth it.
C) Elaborate on the decision through editing. There's a multitude of reasons that they could've elected not to revive Mcjones. It's likely that scheduling could have been an issue. Honestly, the way everyone plays it off makes it seem like it was Mcjones' decison not to come back.

I genuinely don't understand why there is so much hate and disappointment. The guys are just trying something new this season, and they had good reason to pick dodger. She was the person who had helped a lot more in the season so far, and she is a guest who probably wouldn't be in hard core again, at least for a while. As for the dramatacism, well, I love the new changes. The editing isn't dragging down the series either. Everybody just calm down a little. This is high quality content, and I, for one, love the new season so far. It needed a little spice anyways, to keep things interesting.

Christ, people are talking about this like all the good folks in the vid have to constantly be thinking about creating a water-tight plot line with every decision they make.
The beauty of a non-scripted gameplay series is that shit just HAPPENS and people deal with it however they deal with it. These aren’t characters in a pre-written story. They’re people, friends, players. And sometimes people just do shit without needing a reason that would create some kind of preferred narrative.
I’m not saying that you can’t have your opinion. But to say “McJones is better than Dodger,” or “wtf Dodger sucks tho,” and things like that, is plain shitty. It can be interesting to see an inexperienced player grow. Sure, reviving McJones would give them a higher chance of “winning,” but maybe their soul purpose in playing together in this series is not just to win. Maybe they did revive Dodger because she’s the guest. So fucking what? It’s probably the only time she’ll be in a Minecraft Hardcore. McJones has been in every season. You can watch 5 other seasons of him.

Chances are they won't learn for another season if they brought back McJones, cause he'd just do everythign for them in terms of making potions and shit. For all the people that hate the side quest, It's all over. The HC season will probably go back the way it was from HC 1-HC 5.
While i've definitely enjoyed the team composition, jokes, editing and all that. This season is probably my least favorite so far because of the odd scripted stuff that it has (Though that doesn't mean i don't like this season. It's definitely got it's qualities). It's cool that you're trying something different with the series instead of just doing another plain season again but i'd honestly prefer that over a half-scripted season. Still though, great job Todd on the editing and the others for the silly yet very amusing entertainment!
I'd say it is the opposite, the story bits help make it more then another generic hardcore play, or another generic sky blocks. A large portion of Minecraft is vanilla and plain... which is a let down for a game about creativity.

Dodger's sacrifice should have been used to revive McJones, it would have made a lot more sense story wise. People would have been praising her sacrifice right now, but everyone is bashing her instead for something that wasn't her fault. Dodger didn't choose to come back, everyone else did.
