No you don't. I thought headgear was cool until I had to wear headgear for 3 years to fix an overbite problem I had. It's cumbersome and uncomfortable. If you were born without a bite problem, consider yourself lucky.

if your underbite is bad enough, headgear won't do it. In my training we only use headgear on children that are still growing. Lina looks like an adult so I don't know if this is used by some orthodontists on non-growing adults with success.
What are they trying to pull with the headgear? I‘m really curious if I need one. I hope my orthodontist puts one if it‘s really needed.. I‘ve never seen anyone with teeth like mine. Mine are all projected inside the mouth. Are yours too? Or the front ones are projected to the outside?
Was there no other option? Is your bite problem that severe that you needed a head gear? I would’ve thought that dentistry would have become advanced enough to not have to go to such lengths.
This appliance is used to get the upper jaw to grow forward. You can't just move the teeth to correct certain bites because you actually have to have the jaw bone in the right place to have the right amount of bone to move the teeth in. The only way to correct underbites severe enough to require this type of headgear is jaw surgery, which is painful, can result in certain spots on your face and mouth being permanently numb and is also expensive and often not covered by insurance. Even if you could move the teeth into the right place without the headgear, one of the benefits of pulling the upper jaw forward is to correct a concave profile. A straight profile is usually considered more esthetic. Something peopel don't always realize about orthodontics is that we often don't make you look better just by having straighter teeth, but we can make your whole face more esthetically pleasing.
@@Jessi_77. Hey, I'm actually going to take off my braces in like 2 weeks and I'd say it's worth it. It makes your jawline look sharper (in a good way), and affects your bite shape to actually be well aligned. Wear it every night, it's well worth it

it pulls my upper teeth all to upside. i have slight underbite
I heard the successful rate of reverse pull headgear is high if combined with MSE. I am about to get both MSE and this headgear.
