Thats why the creative visuals n insane shots r so important in monogatari. Because while the dialogues r peak, just having ppl talk will get real boring real quick
yeah, the studio see the material and like "hmm this is word.doc file the anime, let's make it interesting by making it word.doc file the anime with art gallery"
The same applies to kaguya sama. When you stop to look at the series, you'll realise that 90% of it is just talking and internal monologues followed by narration.
It's good for a manga but horrible for an anime. Thankfully, the animators used creative angles, facial expressions and body movement to make what is a 90% dialogue series interesting in animated form.
This is my argument on defenders of slime s3. We're watching a youtuber's reaction and one of them actually falling asleep lol (Yaboyroshi Slime S3 Ep4 I think).
I just said that they shouldn't expect much because the arc already fell off anyways, they keep saying that it's good because it's world building, and my literal argument is the fact that monogatari exists and is liked by the people. For something like monogatari being 98% dialogue to pull it off so good, and then slime failing at every attempt at "world building" lol
monogatari memtioned!
Last season Apothecary Diaries also does a good job, it's a lot dialogue, but felt engaging, not 1 episode felt boring and slow, in facts it feels very fast going through every episode.
Funny cause AD not even an action anime lol
When a meeting episode ended and the teaser for the next episode was the other side of the conflict announcing the start of their own meeting I was out.
I read the LN and I’m pretty sure the next 2 seasons are a bunch of meetings and logistics and city planning. There’s a part where they interrupt a battle because some other people in another country are having a meeting
A justified reason to watch someone recap a 6 episode zoom meeting into 10-20 minutes
Episode 12-24 are gonna have interesting meetings with good animations
If I can understand japanese, I would have played the episodes in the background while doing chores and I wouldn't miss a thing.
In 2x speed of course
So you would watch it dubbed?
That's how I read light novel of this . I just listened to it while I do clean chore checklist
@@VerdeckenThat's what we call audiobook
@@ChamadzeroNever that
log horizon meetings are insanely entertaining
Horizon without shiro meetings only politics show fall off
Thats an unfair comparison cause theyre living in a database.
now i wanna watch log horizon again
The thing is slime has done a better job with dialogue and meetings before, by intercutting with great sage and computer like scenes of what they are talking about but for some reason season 3 didn’t do it. I feel they animated the meeting episodes of season three last which will make sense why they half assed it.
The astonishing aspect is that they clearly can do it better, because the recent two episodes (first two of the new arc) were also full of just world building, but they did it in a dynamic way. You had lots of changes in scenery, cute transitions, the whole shebang. I was surprised how quickly these episodes ended, rather than being surprised that they're still not over. That being said, I do think a decent amount of the blame should be placed on the original author for bunching together so much of the exposition in large clusters. If the anime adapts it faithfully, it's bound to be boring.
@@tobiasreinhold7642 actually that’s not on the author, like gigguk said as a web novel/light novel/manga having huge amount exposition in once is actually quite stimulating for the readers (I read a lot of novels and when they try to spread out information more times than not never lands) but while animating it they should take into consideration that the anime is not a novel readers can’t just read faster to get through it and still get the info. They can do great dialogue and meetings but I think they gave the first few episodes to a smaller team to animate and the large team took on the important sections of the anime. It was mostly a planning issue with the studio.
@@knaditya8228Agreed, the reason I'm not a LN reader is because I have very little imagination, Like I'm fine reading Detextive Conan or Kindaichi where they have a lot of text bubble when explaining things, but at the same time we have images accompanying it.
When it came as an anime, I think anime director need to think how to make long dialogue or exposition interesting, cause unlike manga, where we can read with our thought and sped up, anime would feel awkward with long same still shots, it would feel to start like power point presentation, which you want the least happen at an anime (animation).
Good example last season was Apothechary Diaries, there's a lot dialogue (cause it's a kin to mystery), but there's a lot of small movement in the background, characters moving, and almoat different still shots and looks engaging.
Not 1 episode I feel bored with it, even though it's not an action anime lol
Surprisingly I didn’t have a problem with the meetings and I don’t know why. Any other show would have sucked.
same amount of I just crazy or were the meetings not that boring
Probably because you were asleep and you didn't realize it and it was over, so that was quick for you.
Honestly for me I was invested in the meetings because I could tell there was something to them
@@Thy0neyeah same here
Tensura has always been mostly meeting
A lot happend in the meeting, i loved it
It doesnt need to be constand actions or "OBJECTIINS!"
There was a lot of insight into how the differand sides see things and react.
I think its A tier
This was actually the moment in the LN where I just thought, "Damn, this is a bit too repetitive". The premise of the show's start was interesting when it first premiered because there weren't much material to compare it to at it's level. I liked S1, then continued the manga, caught up to it, so I switched to the LN. But as it went on, I just realized the corniest arc pattern being: Introduce stronger enemy -> war arc -> Rimuru overpowers stronger enemy using a skill he synthesized from the previous war arc -> Absorb stronger enemy and its abilities -> Rimuru now has even more bs to pull out in the next war arc. Rinse and repeat. The reason manga felt better to read was due to both the reader's pace and manga compressing/skipping out details from the LN. The LN had tiresome long dialogue meetings that goes like: Discuss current affairs/questions from previous meeting -> identify problems -> brainstorm -> decide on solutions, but raise new questions -> just focus on solutions and leave the new questions for next meeting. Rinse and repeat. Series just went so bad that it influenced me to also yap this much.
I also noticed that pattern. That's why I don't consider Tensura as a good isekai.
bro the LN even have a long ass page about the skill aquitition and evolution everytime rimuru had a new ability. The author sure love long expotition. About the meeting it's almost like the author applying his experience in corpo meeting to his novel.
What are you talking about in the entire ln with 22 volumes there's only been 2 war arcs where he gets stronger how is that too repetitive and also how are explanations on skills too long if they just mentioned their sub skills and describe that sub skills in 1 sentence if that's too much for you then why are you reading it in the first place
@@luminouslight93call me a hater, but I already consider Slim is a bad story and a bad Isekai when Shion's fakeout died. The author didnt know how to raise the emotional stake, kill off a character, but then also not able to follow through with death. It is such a cheap trick.
Oh and Rimuru commit genocide and got no negative consequences. Not even the emotional consequences.
@@nguyendi92tbh even if I love slime, I cant deny the fact shion's death was cheap and the genocide was cool but was only for shock value and progression, no other consequences which also makes it kinda cheap
I just feel excited and enjoy whenever there's meetings in tensura lol
Meetings in the light novel are even longer than in the anime lol
But the two r two different things and medium. I read the ln it was alright and interesting the way they presented it in the anime was boring. The shit was so boring I felt like taking a RUclips lecture .
This actually explain to me why I thought genshin storytelling its boring, because most of the cutscene are just idle animation with long dialogue.
The episode that made me go from "watch every episode weekly" to 'wait for 2-3 episodes to come out then watch" was watching Rimuru spend an entire goddamn episode talking to mjolmire. It was fun for the first five minutes seeing a character we hadnt seen in a while, then 15 minutes later we're still watching rimuru talk about his plan to open a wendys. Holy shit get on with it.
Then he goes to talk to Fuze and its like 45 seco ds with Yuuki getting a passing mention and thats it.
Eventually, there'll be a Kamiya moment from Cromartie High: “If you want to know why we're fighting, go read the light novel.”
i think they should rename season 3 to that time i got reincarnmated innto a meeting
The LN had fleshed out so many characters in the 7-day clergy arc which got glanced over for these meetings.
There’s a difference between show and tell and I feel like they missed out on that balance in this season.
Glad we are getting the founding festival as well though. Can’t wait for some laid-back world building and slice of life for our little slime that could 🩵🩶
Yeah, Season 2 speedran through meetings without explaining enough, making the Demon Lord Awakening scene a bit weaker in impact. Season 3 meanwhile spent too much time on meeting without explaining much, it's hard to get through.
Great before it was 5 eps of meetings, now 5 eps of "enjoy your time" . This season has no progression at all. All of that just for linking to luminous kingdom.
@@youravghuman5231 Founding festival has a lot of background in terms of meeting new friends and foes alike. So if they don’t glance it over then I think it would be for the best
I would have liked the meeting if it wasn't just panning shots of characters talking, like at least make some interesting angles like how shaft does monogatari
Love that title😂
When I read the manga the meetings and city buildings are the parts I enjoy because the action is just the monsters side being OP as hell all the time with zero suspense. Haven’t watch the anime though, it’s probably bad because you can’t skim.
i actually loved meetings bcz of world building and the politics. and they kept action to minimun... loved that part that they dont overextend the fights for no reason
In the manga it worked really well having extra dialogue, long meetings and slow character development. I don’t often read manga as I usually wait for the anime to drop but with tensura I realized it might take 5+ years to get through volume 20 in the anime so I read it. Loved the manga(might even be my favorite as I rarely read manga) but now I can’t stand watching the anime despite actually enjoying seasons 1 and 2 of it before reading the manga.
The anime saved a lot of money this season

That Time I Got Reincarnated in a Thrash Anime Pod Cast
6-7 episodes of JUST meeting with close to nothing else is too much for me. I genuinely could not get through them, they felt like a slog which made me sad. There are so many series that have a bunch of dialogue and talking but it doesn't feel boring due to how the episodes are produced and directed (Kaguyasama, Monogatari, Chimera Ant Arc etc.) I just feel disappointed that Slime didn't find a way to make them interesting since some of my all time favourite anime episodes are basically just people talking, like for example Re:Zero season 1 episode 18 or season 2 episode 4.
The 2nd cour for some reason did better with meetings and it kind of pissed me off enough to scratch my head hairs falls out, why they never done it that way with the 1st cour. It's like the directors changed all of a sudden.
ive realized that i just dont want what most anime fans want. I loved this season and honestly the previous season i was getting bored of the constant fights. the world building aspect is way more interesting to me than any action scene.
I don't mind meeting-episodes (interesting characters and good dialogue can be really entertaining) and I think world- and characterbuilding is important, *but* having like 6-7 meeting episodes back to back is too much for even me, and I can't blame anyone for dropping it at this point.
I consider Slime/Tensura to be an S-tier show, but if this season keeps going like this, it will 100% get demoted...
The problem with political power fantasy shows is that the MC is too powerful that these meetings feel useless because we know that MC will just do shit to fix everything unlike other political shows where characters do something while the other character pretends that he isn't doing something while doing something. For example, civil war or pre-civil war anime is about a province making a private army while the imperial leader would try to solve it politically to avoid bloodshed and a civil war. He would do behind the scenes things like slowing down the private army's progression, prevent them from making alliances with other provinces, or maneuvering key people within the province. All while making sure that the public populace wouldn't notice aside from small rumors. While the imperial army is superior to its subordinates, there will still be bloodshed when it comes to war. But power fantasy anime just have the MC forcing said private army to stop cause they're too powerful or the thought of making a private army won't do shit cause MC is too powerful.
Okay this isn't a shounen.
Tensura just proves that most people wouldn't recognizes a good story if it punched them in the face.
The meetings are fine they expand the world, give important information and give you insight into characters.
But meh "no one got clobered this episode! anime boring!" people are as loud as always
😂
There’s always a limit, at the time i didn’t mind the meetings and the most part i enjoy about the show is when they make a new inventions within the city. But episode 66 I’ve finally realized how much of a yapping sesh we’re getting, we’re basically just watching someone meeting their friends and having light convos and small interactions. Calling this an actual good story is insane, who are we kidding here this is way too underwhelming for a manga of this level. 90% meeting in season 3 is the protagonist the meeting table? I’ve seen it more than any other characters now.
I have been enjoying s3 of slime
Finally garnt said it...just like we all said if we just hate the meeting tiself why would we even be watching season 3 now...because both season 1 and season 2 also have meeting episodes too....but this season meetings didnt really hit hard and engaging as much as previous 2 seasons...well at least for first few episodes of this season i mean...but now after war with hinata...new meetings outside of tempest are really intresting to watch every week episodes now
Those are my favorite episodes
Having read through this arc in the light novel and the manga, I think the entire thing becomes a big of a slog after the Demon Lord arc. It’s a LOT of yapping and it’s been mind numbing every time.
I liked the meeting people are just tiktok brained nowadays
I don’t know why but I still really like the show, maybe it’s cause I’ve only recently caught up to the newest episodes. I can see how boring it is to wait another week just for another meeting episode
Tbh this dialogue focused style suit Overlord more. The novel has a ton of info that the anime skipped.
I've read multiple great political isekai, you don't need a fucking meeting each episode 😂😂
when running a nation it is
We rarely get a good meeting in isekai and most of the time it doesn't feel serious
Honestly, the slime isekai was only good in the beginning. But after words, it gets boring, not because there's no action, but because everything they talk about and discuss is boring as hell. I read the novels (well up to a point), and I know how boring it gets after he's established a lot of ties. The politics and economics in it is so shallow, its not intriguing enough for me, not to mention the daily life stories in it aren't really interesting because they are just generic and not unique enough.
And the plot suffers from "I'm clearly making it up as I go along" - itis.
It doesn't help though, that I've been reading so many other Asian light novels/webnovels, that this one from the early annals of translations doesn't do it for me anymore. Other series have just done it far better, and you can't help but to compare them.
Example? Ascendance of a bookworm. Of all isekai I have ever read, no other series has come close to the world building in that series, with its complex level of micro and macro socio economic politics of a caste society full of myth and magic.
Slime is so surface level when it comes to politics. Also suffers of having too strong characters and an overcomplicated magic system.
Politics and town building series are generally good at the start but become dragged out in a boring way as time goes on. It loses its charm mid way.
The reason it's boring is that, after a certain point , the author Fuse started adding onto his own story. Slime was originally based on a web novel, which is not entirely unheard of, but said web novel was fairly smooth pacing wise. Once Rimuru becomes a demon lord, it picks up said pace and goes pretty smooth until a decent ending. What happened is that the Light Novels, which the anime/manga are based off, kept getting new content added to them. Most of the new content was added post demon lord transformation. That is why seasons 1-2 are really good. In a more plain example. The Webnovel went 1-2-3-4-5. The Light Novels have been 1-2- 2.5 - 3- 3.1 - 3.2 - 3.3 - 3.4 -3.5 - 4 etc... The author has been trying to flesh out his story now that he has the ability to do so, but he is too poor of a writer to do that in any way other than spending 3 hours in a conference room spewing new exposition dumps.
The "politics and economics" is literally "oh no! there's a problem! What do we do?" and then Rimuru goes "Let's make everyone happy :)" and then they just . . . do it. There's no actual depth, like you point out. It's literally just "solve the issue, I'm such a genius."
@@stegotops7415 It doesn't help that Rimiru has everything he would ever need already. Massive labor force that don't question anything, unlimited cash supply, a strong army, political influence, economic stability and close relationships with powerful people.
What's weird is people are acting like this is new, like season 2 wasn't this same way.
Season 2 could have 2 meeting episodes back-to-back at most. Season 3 has literally had 6+ meeting episodes back-to-back. 40 min of exposition =/= 120 min of exposition.
@@MinscS2 I think you're not remembering very well. The first five episodes of the second half of season 2 were 90% meetings.
@@zkeletonz001season 2 had way more plots mixed with actions, inventions within city and tension. Wtf is season 3 i’m episode 66 and they’re just permanently still yapping.
If you want god tier fights every episode then its not a good anime to even consider watching.
you either get a world building dialogues like Tensura giving a full context of the current politics and situation of their world or a Action packed anime like Overlord that pretty much skips all of that in favor of seeing Ainz and his OP guardians kill another set of underleveled disposable characters.
Or you get mushoku tensei....
The problem isn’t the world building. The problem is the way it is executed, the newest two episodes were also basically all exposition and world building but it was actually done really well I thoroughly enjoyed them because it wasn’t just 3 static shots of everyone sitting around a table
look man Im a fan of world building
but slime just took it too far
when they talked about the units they had I just lost it

Re:Monster is quite good actually and doesn't have the same problems. Although, the animation isn't as good since it isn't made by a big studio.
ding ding dong like king kong
Dude that's a garbage isekai with a bunch of action
the pacing of that is a bit weird but what really puuled me off was the stockholm aspect. Like while I understand it's a power fantasy harem show, that sht was just disgusting
@@desuyodesuyo60 I get why you'd think that it's stockholm and it does seem that way, but in the orginal web novel that I read quite a while back, it wasn't this way. Basically, the human women, knew of their fates after being captured by goblins. They understood that they'd only be used for reproduction and discarded afterwards. MC realises that they'd commit die soon if the others touched them. So he repeatedly saves them from _you know what_ multiple times and afterwards forbids anyone from touching them. He basically only wants them in his camp cause of their skills and potential. After a long period of seeing him saving and consoling them, along with MC's natural charm skills, the girls understand that he's completely different from the other goblins and start trusting him.
Needless, to say, it's all skipped or barely hinted at in the anime and makes it look like they instantly fell for him after he saved them once cause of their good looks...
Triple thrust
Ngl I felt the same, still watched it though. But I am also reading LN.
Actually 2nd Cour of Season 3 has more Budget than the 2nd Confrontation Arc cuz thats when they made money from the slime movie. And got more budget.
this arc is probably the fishman arc of one piece, that's also one of the boring arcs i've watch yet i still enjoy it cuz it expands the lore same as slime
In fishman, yeah it's boring but fishman island and shirahoshi plays a big role in future episodes
In this arc, yeah for others it's boring but the labyrinth is one of the biggest part that most important part in the story in future arcs
People don't care about meetings or important lore BUT why the need to drag to a whole season just for meetings? 10 mins of meetings for every 5 eps is enough. It's not like every single sentence is every single lore that is to establish for future arc.
@@youravghuman5231 whole season? it's just 6 episodes lol from ep 3-6 and ep 11-12
Considering every single long running anime ever has had filler/training arcs I find it really strange that when slime finally gets one everybody blows their top. Isn’t it kinda nice to for once get some genuine world building and character development and politics in an isekai? It been the norm that isekais are low effort, cheap quick one off anime’s, Slime as well as Mushoku are changing this, we haven’t reached the boring part of mushoku yet so I hope it doesn’t receive the same treatment.
like he said in the video. its not the actual meetings that are bad, its the way the anime made it very low effort and not very engaging at all that makes it a bore to wqatch when it didnt have to be
Worldbuilding and politics are fine, but the amount of time they're all just sitting in a meeting room (instead of mixing up the locals, showing his frontline units doing things, etc) became ridiculous this season. It bothered me a little bit last season, too, but they REALLY outdid themselves this season. We've had maybe one or two interesting/cool things happen so far, and they came and went (Diablo's elimination of certain individuals comes to mind)
I really enjoyed the first couple seasons, but this one has been borderline horrible, imo
@@d.l.brinkmaniac3542 my counter would be is it not regular that in other anime’s filler seasons there are ENTIRE episodes of just random dialogue exposition or some absolutly irrelevant useless dumb topic. One thing I prefer about this kind of *filler* is that it still actively drives the story along in a meaningful way or adds to the world in the greater picture. I certainly don’t mean to be their knight in shining armor it’s fucking boring all I’m saying is the hate they are receiving is disproportionate to what they are doing in the anime lol.
If we ever going to watch a boring part of mushoku then it would be already happened, from now on its just will start to go up and up
wdym by boring part? It's not like mt will get as many meetings as slime.
pretty ironic. its just like most people that liked gundam wing for the action scenes even if most of the show was just talking
The difference between the first few episodes and episode 12+ is INSANE
They locked in after they finished that arc

For the first time in years, anime doesn't feel rushed.
We finally see the boring shit in usually action filled anime, you know how they actually solve shit mostly IRL?
Idc what anyone says, this is refreshing.
Esp when shit about to go down, and the tension is high in the meeting.

But anime isn't real life. What is the point having isekai and magic if they gonna solve problem with meeting. The author has zero creativity

Yeah Reincarnated as a Slime has been a major snoozefest since season 1 ended. Season 2 was extrememly boring until literally the last 2 episodes and when Rimuru becomes a demon lord and then they gave us pretty mediocre animation for most of that. Season 3 was lauded as the big war arc and the opening even shows a battle between Rimurus forces and the church but after like, 8 episodes of pretty much the exact same boring ass dialogue I dropped that shit like the turd it was.

In my opinion the people complaining and saying other animes did dialogue scenes better are a bunch of brain rotten tik tok attention span degraded constant dopamine fight scenes shonen watchers, I was all hype with the world building and politics through the anime, everyone seems to forget that Tensura is politics the anime and of course this is to be expected.
This is to be expected yes but atleast make the politics and economics interesting? My mother's an economics teacher so I've been taught about it since my childhood and this here isn't how economics should work. Atleast make the meetings interesting, but they decide to do slide show without any extra details or life to the characters and the thing I hate the most is that they insert random jokes in the meeting and all that happens is 'I agree' 'oh I disagree but now I agree but what about this? I don't agree' its just boring and the topics are too serious to be taken in such light manners. The show handles everything it's meant to be poorly
Nah dude don't try to pull the TikTok brainrot excuse.
I found that season of Slime Tensei awfull and I don't have TikTok.
I enjoyed many slow moments/ animes:
Monster is a slow burn anime and I enjoyed every of the 70+ episodes.
Attack on Titan season 2 with the political intrigue was said to be boring by many people but I enjoyed it.
Slime season 3 is 90% yaping with very little impact on the story. Had the politcal game been mindblowing, I would give the anime a pass. But no, there was nothing complexe presented here. On the opposite. Every country/ organisation seems to act like their leaders have 1 braincell.
@@ousou78 The yappin integrated some world building into it which is enjoyed by many people, the reason you think the political game is mid and the leaders have one braincell is because we 100% know Rimuru can easily just clap them out of existense so their yappin means nothing to you.
If you are giving this statement after reading the light novel , then maybe for you the meetings are meaningful and very intresting.... But for only anime watchers like us.... These meetings were boring as hell....
@@capriumnoir6426 they literally are one brain cell npcs. They can't even negotiate or take matters seriously, just rimuru sama this rimuru sama that. It feels like rimuru is the leader instead of them
Slime is one of my favorite anime ever, this season is incredibly disappointing 😢. It’s way too boring with barely any character movement, they all just sit in a round table and talk and talk. And when a fight happens it ends fast, and they somehow have to sort of make rimuru look weaker than he should be to create some artificial suspense. Some of the dialogues are kind of pointless and repetitive too. It’s a lazy season, straight up, oh and the animations are whack for some reason 😢
I like it. It expands the lore. I think a big part of the hate is ppl treating this anime as a shonem battle when its more close to a Slice of Life anime with ocasionals battles.
I don’t mind the meetings when we get new info. My complaint about a lot of the meetings is that they sort of just recapped a lot of things that we knew about and had already happened.
The dialogue in the last couple episodes has been fine because it’s new information now to progress the story
The meetings and economics are bad too, the slice of life part doesn't work here as things are going on continuously. It's either politics or action. Nothing else
lore can be expanded by good & progressive storytelling as well. having it all explained in a clusterfuck of meetings is just lazy.
this anime only good at beginning after that will become boring ,i try read ln but cant finish at all there so much useles dialong and repretitif plot story.
have you reach the concept of mask in volume 11?
story is not repetitive starting from volume 11 at all it changes everything
the only boring part of slime is volume 7-9 which what season 3 covers, still enjoyable for me cuz it expands the lore
