- This tutorial will show you how to crochet baby / children’s textured dungarees.
These dungarees can be made in 4 sizes from 0 - 6 months to 3 - 5 years. This tutorial follows the pattern for size 6 - 12 months. Detailed instructions for all sizes are included in the written pattern.
For these dungarees you will need a 4mm crochet hook. You will need fine weight yarn.

I did 70 chains with a 5mm using Bernat baby velvet yarn. And it fits about 3-9 month old.

I am using a smaller hook and the right yarn size. I have quadruple checked and I have 120 stitches and it will probably fit my 4 year old judging from the waist. I was figuring if this turned out I'd buy the pattern to make bigger sizes for my other daughters, but if the video instructions aren't working out I am not sure I will do that. It is way off.
This is the exact problem I have now. Im using 4mm hook with 4mm yarn. Im still going the first part and I think I can wear it as a bandeau top 🙃

Started making it. But 120 chains it seems so big at the waist. Wish I could add a picture. Im using a larger hook 5.5 and a 4 weight yarn to make it bigger. Not sure if that is why.
I also make 120chains with 2,5 hook. Waist 26cm.

Google says fine weight yarn is defined as Sport - 5 Ply or Baby weight - 4 Ply. Light weight is DK.

My work seems to be quite larger than yours, I'm using a 4mm hook, 8ply yarn. Is the problem with the yarn?
Stacey May I think 8ply is too heavy. She says to use fine weight yarn. If the yarn is too heavy the work will be larger. I have bought the written pattern and there is a gauge on there.
@@madelinexemma ok fair enough, i just bought the pattern for the recent cardigan so I've moved on for the moment, I might go back once I've finished the cardigan.
@@madelinexemma dear you have purchased written pattern can you just tell ne how many chains to start with for 4 -5 yrs. And do you need some extra chains between two leg space ( as in shorts ) so its comfortable for kids to walk
