I forget how good Pat Metheny's first album "Bright Size Life" is until I hear it. Then I remember why I became an instant and lifelong fan of this incredible guitarist in 1976. We owe a debt of gratitude to Gary Burton for giving in to Metheny's pestering him to play when he was 17 years old and recognizing that he was already one of the great - if not the greatest -guitarists of his generation. He and Jaco turned the jazz world on its ear.
Maybe most don't understand the music, they praise it just because of the complexity of the music. They deceive themselves into telling themselves that this is wonderful music.
What are you exactly trying to say? This isn't wonderful music? Your comment makes me think, that you are the one lacking the musical experience to grasp music like this... and then simply assuming others must be deceiving themselves? xD wtf... So you judge about the music and everyone else who's enjoying it? Well enlighten us please what so much more wonderful music you are listening too. I'm really curious now. Wouldn't be surprised if it was some modern trap mumble hip hop... 🤣
@@TheSubconsciousness exactly,, and this isn’t even some crazy off the rails free jazz performance, there’s clearly so many beautiful harmonies and melodies in what they are playing
I praise It because it's wonderful. I don't care about complexity. It can be complex? Of course it can be. But what it really matters for me is what this sound(complex or not) makes me feel. That's the point about music for me.
Not only are both solos amazing, but the comping of each players really shows the versatility playing in a duo.
I love how Ulf put some Pat licks in his solo. Magic.
Man. If EVER I wanted to know what a Pat Metheny and George Benson duo would sound like, this is pretty damn close. Amazing.

Unbelievably amazing playing by two guitar masters. The chemistry is off the charts.
Bright Size Life is my favorite Pat Metheny song. Thanks for posting this one.
I’m just glad that this exists.

How refined and beautiful the performance is!
Your comping is truly amazing
It was the most beautiful performance I have ever heard
All you need is a dirt cheap Les Paul copy and a ton of talent!
Maybe a bit of practice.

What the phuck are you trying to say? Deceiving yourself into some pretense of 'enlightened' commentary?
There was literally not one phrase from Ulf. It was constant playing, zero space.
