    I love the way you place the bias binding on first then cut afterwards, which is so much more precise and less messy. Love it . Thank you.

    This is the first video that's a thrift flip of a sweater that's not a freaking crop top. (Nothing's wrong with that, just it's all one style and not mine.) Thank you! 💛

    You did a beautiful job on this. PLUS it is easy to understand and do it myself too. THANK YOU. You should have seen my face when I went, "Wait ... sew bias tape BEFORE cutting? Brilliant!" That alone will save me so many struggles. Just love this. It came out looking professional. You can never go wrong with classic pieces and solids in looking put together, modest but attractive, without looking like you're trying.

    I like the idea of sewing bias tape before cutting. So long as you know the angle and low point in front. I dont have a huge issue with most sweaters if a blended knit or acrylicthey dont ravel. But some have weight and drag down after cutting so hard to plan for that shape you want to keep!

      Yes , it's true , a lot depends on fabric too. I'm happy you like my idea with bias tape 🤗

    With 4 hole buttons I've made it a habit to sew two holes with one length of thread and the other two holes with another length of thread. I've also been known to sew over the existing thread with new clothing. It saves me from losing buttons. Great video! It's going to save a sweater passed down to me from a loved one that I never wear but I haven't been able to part with.

    Wish I'd seen this video before started on a project where I cut a pullover sweater down the center front, but have had a hard time deciding what to put around that somewhat raw edge now. I was hoping to make it slightly larger since it was really small, but maybe I should just put the bias (well it's blanket satin edging tape I bought) around it and send it to my granddaughter cuz she would love it and probably get lots of wear from it. Thanks for this video! I'm sure I will reference it in the future.

      @@sparrowrefashion Hi Sparrow. I'm pleased to say that I've converted two jumpers into cardigans BUT when it came to doing the buttonholes (despite doing a test run) the machines (have two) just kept getting stuck and kind of chewing the knit. I assumed the binding would be a stabilizing quality and unpicking those stitches was tiresome to say the least. So I'm stuck using a button and snap. Any tips? You made it look so easy!! 🙂

    • @sparrowrefashion
      @sparrowrefashion  3 года назад

      @@QueenAmethyst55 Hey, wonderful to hear the cardigan is finished 😁👋, I think the problem is you were sewing on outside site on sweater , you should sew on inside side directly on binding, there will be no knit chewing 🙂

      @@sparrowrefashion You're right oh wise one!!! Thanks so much for replying. I was using a stretch needle. Should I then change it for the buttonholes? Sorry for another question. Thanks so much 🙂💃

      @@QueenAmethyst55 happy to help 😊, hard to say as I don't see it but I think it depends more on how you feel about it ,are the snaps ok for you or you don't like this cardigan with them

    • @sparrowrefashion
      @sparrowrefashion  2 года назад +1

      hello☺ , in my opinion ribbon won't be good idea for it, it's good solution for straight lines , when it comes to necklines and so on ...not very , here I made video on how to make own bias tape ruclips.net/video/ngHA4mztlRA/видео.html , but of course you can try , keeping my fingers crossed for you 🤗

    What if the sweater is knit? Would it just fall apart?

    • @sparrowrefashion
      @sparrowrefashion  2 года назад +1

      no , it shouldn't😊 , check this video ruclips.net/video/LxwVqi9wYUQ/видео.html how I change size here by using special tapes as density of the sweater is lower, also use density switch controller on 1-2, good luck 🤗

      Ich habe das Schrägband mit einem Geradstich genäht, aber du kannst es auch mit einem Zickzack-Stich nähen, wenn du möchtest. Beide Methoden sind in Ordnung, es kommt darauf an, welchen Look und welche Stabilität du bevorzugst. Viel Spaß beim Nähen! 😊🌷

      You can find the bias tape in the description box below the video where I've provided two links for your convenience. However, I think you can also purchase bias tape at your local sewing supply store, aim in good quality!. It's a very handy sewing tool! 😊👍
