Thanks for showing the binding trick. Some viewers don't know how to sew and also have lots of money and don't have to be thrifty.
DIY Edigna: That’s a nice job you did in rescuing that sweater. When I first saw you cut it, all I could imagine was the sweater starting to unravel before you could get the work done; The bias tape was sure good idea to encapsulate the stitches before that could happen. You are the only person I’ve ever seen turn a corner with bias tape like that without mitering; what a nice, clean, flat corner you made in a place that should’ve turned out bulky. I think I’ll watch that little segment over and over to see how exactly you did it. Before seeing this segment, it would never have occurred to me to do that, but now I can see an application for that and they put in the time to learn that skill. That looks like a nice comfy little sweater set for puttering around the house on a cool day that you’ve ended up with. Thank you very kindly for demonstrating one way to rescue a very nice quality warm sweater that a person might otherwise not get more use from.

I had some vintage buttons that I also used. I love the results and plan to do this again with another sweater I have that I don't like the style that much, but it would be great for this. You made that look so easy but I know there was some serious skill involved in creating that. Excellent job, it looked wonderful... I struggle to sew a straight line.. :)
May I share a trick on how to achieve a straight line stitching: focus your eyes on either on the narrow or wide edge of the presser foot using the as a guide (depending on the task you want to accomplish). This is what my grandma taught me when I was nine years old. Since I didn't want to wear skirts, I learned to cut and sew my very first pair of custom-made shorts at that age.

I so enjoyed watching your video. I was in awe watching you cut so perfectly! I would love to be so creative and skilled! Seems like it would be enjoyable! Beautiful work, thank you for sharing with us!
She is definitely a professional. I love that she gave new life to something old instead of just throwing it out. We need more people in the world like that. 😎
I could have done this back in the day. She is very skilled but the garment is a combination of doable techniques. I am 65 and started sewing at age 4. My mother taught me, then I learned by constantly trying new things because I loved it! Sewing is like anything else - practice makes perfect! If you love it, keep at it! Don’t ever look at something and think you can’t! Do not despise the day of small beginnings. The mighty oak was once an acorn!
Nice! I love to sew too. Now I could see myself shopping a thrift store or flea market for those pure wool or cashmere sweaters that have a hole or a rip and remaking it. I WOULD NEVER USE POLYESTER OR ANY SYNTHETIC FABRIC. But because pure wool and cashmere doesn't contaminate and always remains so, it's a safe material. Cotton needs laundering, but pure wool only needs air & sunshine. Same with pure silk, no laundering needed. Have a beautiful time in your sewing. 🌺🌸🏵️🌸🌺
Fascinating to watch this no nonsense video. You’re very clever and made this look so simple. It would take me about 3 months to make. It gave me some great ideas and techniques of how to do simpler things though. Thank you.
Huh only 3 months? I have many unfinished sewing projects due to my very slow progress in this area. It’s a pity she hasn’t been snatched up by the clothing industry, what an asset ✅
I came across this by luck and I’m over the moon how beautiful your sweater came out! Genuine! I would so wear this. I’m going to go through some of my old sweaters and give them a new life. I love it! Thank you for sharing.
I skip to the end to see the results but it’d be great if you show end result in the beginning like a before and after. This is great recycling and creative. Sewers will try it. I may try a variation version of it. Very inspiring!
This is beautiful. I have made several sweater remakes for my 90 year old mommy. I used sweaters and also a few sweat shirts. (little cute old ladies get cold) and also added a pocket on one side. My mom is in heaven now but I have many photos of her. Thank you for sharing this lovely tutorial!!!
That’s so sweet. My Mommy went to Heaven in July 2009. I had just spoken to her an hour before I got the call that she was gone. So sudden. It was so traumatizing that I really went hysterical, and that’s not at all like me. She was my person. We did so many things together and had so many laughs. I wish we had taken more pics. I was blessed to have her until I was 49. I am so excited to see her again one day in Heaven. I miss her every day and think of funny and/or wise things she said. Take care. Big hugs!
My Mom was a very talented seamstress, too. I still have her 1945 Singer sewing machine in a gorgeous walnut cabinet. It still works, too. It’s the only machine I know how to sew on. I was given a newer Singer, but I have never learned to use it.
Hello Kitty mentions there must be some “serious skill” involved here...certainly was! Never seen things sewn without pinning like that, and you did it with such confidence it was amazing skill from a very talented seamstress! Very well done! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 finished result was amazing! Thankyou ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💐
Can you explain this? I'm super-beginner for using fabric for clothing, and have a bunch of clothes I want to take in and refresh. Where is the bias technique and what's different/relevant about it please?
Could I just recommend purchasing only pure wool or cashmere, even at thrift stores or flea markets, because these don't contaminate as a synthetic or blend of different material. Pure wool is capable of being cleaned only with sun, fresh air and a breeze. This has been confirmed in the literature of the Vedas (from reliable sources). Pure silk also does not need water or any detergent or any kind of laundry even dry cleaning. It's very resistant to being polluted. Hope you have fun days of creativity. Thanks 🌷

This would be such a great way to redesign that cashmere pullover you found in the perfect colour but the wrong size at the thrift shop. For sure, nobody else would have the same one.
Clearly this is work for a professional seamstress. However during the first phase of cutting the sweater...that was a simple step to creating a work out Top with a sports bra underneath it was Perfect!
This has been fascinating, I would have enjoyed this far more with some narration or even possible guidance so an interested viewer could possibly dubilcate and learn from this video.
She is a professional for sure! The way she sew those buttons and made the bias tells a lot of years of work and learning. It is a very nice way to reuse something. Thanks for sharing this great idea ❤️
Well...thats 11 minutes and 28 seconds of my life I'll never get back. She did an amazing job, it looks fab, but as we all know....WE'LL NEVER DO THIS!! 😄
Janet ,why not great yourself ( especially if like me you are locked in the house in C ovid lockdown) to a basic seeing machine ,just straight stitch & zigzag even to start off with & have a go at making something really simple .I truly believe every so glad human being is capable at being creative.Plus with global warming & the amount of cheap clothing that's being produced & adding to this eco meltdown...it feels really great to just upcycle & give new life to a loved but rather tatty old garment & create something unique too 😊👍xx

She is definitely a professional. I love that she gave new life to something old instead of just throwing it out. We need more people in the world like that. 😎
There are heaps of them in 3rd world countries.
Wow so professional lady. Thanks for sharing your talent. I love it. 💋💋💋💋❤️❤️❤️
But its a waste of a perfectly good sweater that could've been donated to a cold homeless person
Who throws out clothes!
My mother used old sweater for mopping floor.

Thank you! I needed to read this so much!!!
It took me 8 years to knit a sweater 😁😁
@@christinahermansson2183 Top marks for perseverance 😃.
I came across this by luck and I’m over the moon how beautiful your sweater came out! Genuine! I would so wear this. I’m going to go through some of my old sweaters and give them a new life. I love it! Thank you for sharing.

Good job
I skip to the end to see the results but it’d be great if you show end result in the beginning like a before and after. This is great recycling and creative. Sewers will try it. I may try a variation version of it. Very inspiring!
This is beautiful. I have made several sweater remakes for my 90 year old mommy. I used sweaters and also a few sweat shirts. (little cute old ladies get cold) and also added a pocket on one side.
My mom is in heaven now but I have many photos of her. Thank you for sharing this lovely tutorial!!!
Welcome to our little channel for children

Fantastic job! The end result looks great, and your technique for cutting bias is genius. I've never seen that before!
Can you explain this? I'm super-beginner for using fabric for clothing, and have a bunch of clothes I want to take in and refresh. Where is the bias technique and what's different/relevant about it please?

What a GORGEOUS upcycle!! Can't wait to go thrift store shopping for sweaters!! Thank you for sharing your gift🌻
Thanks 🌷

Wow what a way to give new life to old clothes! This would be such a great way to redesign that cashmere pullover you found in the perfect colour but the wrong size at the thrift shop. For sure, nobody else would have the same one.
I get most of my clothes at thrift stores, and sometimes I wish I could magically make something really cute into my size lol.
I made caps and mittens for my daughter and her co worker from a small cashmere shrug. I used the scraps to face a poncho.
Clearly this is work for a professional seamstress. However during the first phase of cutting the sweater...that was a simple step to creating a work out Top with a sports bra underneath it was Perfect!

Actually, no. It's not that complicated. Just takes patience and basic sewing skills
Turned something very plain into something very stylish. Well done.
Very nice good job 👌🏻👍🏻

Very accomplished and talented seamstress. I'm sure it is such a joy to make such a lovely "remodeled" sweater.
The way she works reminded me of my late mother who was a great professional dressmaker.
Wowww, you were blessed with trendy clothing.
Yes, confident and deftly applications. My late mother too was a great dressmaker. It is a gift i never inherited but I always loved watching
My mother too. I’ll never have her great skills.
She is a professional for sure! The way she sew those buttons and made the bias tells a lot of years of work and learning. It is a very nice way to reuse something. Thanks for sharing this great idea ❤️

I literally can’t even sew a button on a shirt so this is absolutely magical. I love the finished product. Just wow
