  • Formed in 1976, and still together to this day, U2 has made a career out of being themselves. From the early days of the new wave and punk influenced 'Boy', through the mid-80's where they conquered the world with the 'Joshua Tree'. They then reinvented themselves with 'Achtung Baby' and 'Pop', only to return to form with 'Leave Behind' and 'Atomic Bomb'.
Along the way they've released virtually everything they've recorded on vinyl, a blessing for collectors like myself.

Love your collection. I’m a huge U2 fan and I also really got into them with How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb. After that, I went back to discover everything else they’ve done and they’ve been my favorite band ever since.

Lucky enough to catch the band on the " Love Comes To Town " Tour in Auckland. A great release to have is the New Zealand only pressing (as a single) of " One Tree Hill " .
    Nice video and collection.

Cool collection. I’m a huge U2 fan but a little less obsessed than you. I have all the studio stuff except Passengers and I think I have all the RSD releases including Wide Awake in Europe plus the alternate Songs of Innocence. I don’t have many vinyl singles but have a bunch of CD singles I started buying in college. My obsessive artist I collect is Springsteen with tons of US and foreign albums and singles.

I'm a huge U2 nut, and I have most of what you have, but you have a lot I don't - I don't have any of the fan club releases like Artificial Horizon and Melon. Passengers had been too expensive for me since 2008ish, when I saw it for 40. I should have grabbed it then. Some you're missing - the Mission Impossible 12inch, the Pop Mart sampler 12inch promo, the I'll Go Crazy Tonight UK double 7inch pack ( similar to the 12inch you have), but most of all, the 1979 CBS 12" of boygirl /stories/out of control, which was their 2nd release ever. I think mine is an early 80s reissue, I got it 83 War era, but it's on Columbia. The Beautiful Day was an American 12inch and had ONLY that song. It was the only way to get that song at the time, cause the CD wasn't out yet, like Pearl Jam did with VS and Vitalogy ( I preordered VS, and all my friends had me make tapes from the vinyl, since the CD didn't come out for a few weeks and they long ago ditched their turntables). I lucked out, Virgin Megastore had a ton of the Beautiful 12inchers. Had I known the future, I would have grabbed all of them lol. I got All That You Can't as an American promo pic disc, but oddly I couldn't get it here, had to order overseas. My collection is heavier on war through achtung era, I have multiple different versions of all those and my War 12inchers are out of control lol. The local radio in Connecticut, actually played "everlasting love" from the All I want 12inch as well as the Wide Awake ep (I miss good radio). I can't listen to Desire, unless it's the Hollywood remix with the background singers. I'm 52, I started hardcore collecting 12inchers from all kinds of bands in 84, they were 4.99 each new, which back then was a lot cause full albums were the same price on sale. 5 or 6 artists ( u2 / depeche / iron maiden / duran / Madonna / zz top) had so many 12inch singles they actually had a separate divider card that said Iron Maiden IMPORTS, in addition to the regular divider. I like all these bands, and there's no rhyme or reason to my music taste. I love stuff as vast as Iron Maiden and Madonna. Anyone who thinks Madonna sucks, listen to " dear Jesse segued into Oh Father" I became a fan/ collector of her too. By the way I recommend the DVD Heavy Metal Parking Lot- for the movie, but MORE for the extras. Normally I'm not an extras fan, but on that one, they have historical segments of the Cap Center being demolished, they track down the metal fans from 86 and find out what they're up to nowadays, it has extra movies - Neil diamond parking lot, Harry Potter parking lot, monster truck parking lot and they have a guy going through his Judas Priest vinyl, much like you just did. Me being a fan of all kinds of music, it's right up my alley. It's not the metal only fest you would expect

I do have 90% of the records you've showed but then on Compact Disc. I bought most of the stuff at the time of release so - especially in the 90's and early 2000's - CD was the format of choice. And I don't see the point of having multiple copies of the same release so I'm not gonna buy a record of an album I already have on CD and vice versa. I rather spend my money on something new.
My first U2 album was "The Joshua Tree" and I bought almost every album since (and ofcourse bought their first 4 albums that preceded "Joshua Tree"). I like the fact that U2 changes their musical style across their career. It never gets boring and it still sounds like U2. Just like Queen. Whenever you play people a not so well known Queen album track, they immediately recognize it as Queen.
I've only saw U2 once during their Zooropa tour in The Netherlands (where I live).

Enjoyed your video I was mad on u2 when I was younger used to go to the record fairs and get some good stuff. I first got into them around 83/84 and seen them at Glasgow Barrowlands on the unforgettable fire tour and that was it incredible show and seen them 7 times on their joshua tree 1987 I’ve collected some interesting stuff over the years. Got a lot of stuff you have. I mostly listen to the earlier up to zooropa stuff. Best tour for me zoo tour/zooropa

I don't own every album, but I have heard them all, and I'm a huge fan. I have no time at all for Pop or October, but pretty much everything else they've ever done is great in my opinion. My (current) top 5:
    5. Songs of Experience
    4. Achtung Baby
    3. The Joshua Tree
    2. Zooropa
    1. All That You Can't Leave Behind
I did get the deluxe box set (cd version, because it was cheaper) for the ATYCLB 20th anniversary, and it's one of the best things I own.

Great collection. I collected U2 vinyl from around 1980- 83. I had all the early Irish singles, including a yellow vinyl of Out Of Control. I still have a copy of an American " live " album from the Paradise Theatre in Boston, USA back in 1981. It has Bugs Bunny on the record label. Also, U2 ROK was released as U2 Are Okay.

Nice collection! I too am a collector of U2 12 vinyl. One for the "collection" is the early somewhat rare (around 2000 copies) RSD release named "Wide Awake in Europe". It will cost you some $. Don't open it. Also if you put 4 Achtung Baby era singles together it forms a giant picture of the band in a trabant car.

Under A Blood Red Sky is actually a collection of different live recordings. It's not just from Red Rocks. The version of "Bad" and "A Sort of Homecoming" on Wide Awake In America are live, but were recorded without an audience. They added the audience cheering into the mix later. U2 Treats U bootleg is cool because it captures their first visit to Australia/New Zealand and they are performing music from The Unforgettable Fire before it was released (see the other bootlegs from the same tour All Fall Down and Twilight). There's a collectible version of Achtung Baby with a naked Adam Clayton. The original 12" U2-3 (aka "Out Of Control") release was limited to 1000 hand numbered copies and probably go for a minimum of $3000.

nice collection. As far as 12", you aren't missing much. Wide Awake in Europe which includes the song Mercy. Blackout single? Also, something neat you can do with the 4 Achtung Baby singles is put them together like a puzzle and it's a large picture of the band in a trabant car.
