I love this game but honestly Im not a soccer guy although I do understand the X's and O's in other sports like hockey and basketball. Im a bit behind the curve in soccer but your videos are a great place for me to pick up a lot of the ins and outs on the how, what and why within the game and I really appreciate it

great video and I needed some help regarding the transitional tactics, regarding the 4231 video I think Atalanta , because they have a very interesting collection of players who can play multiple roles and duties

I keep using, with wild success, a highly stamina and fitness consuming 4-4-1-1 with attacking wingers, dlp bwm in central midfield and shadow striker with advanced forward up front. only cds and bwm are set to defensive. extremely high lines with extreme aggressive pressing from everybody. We are #1 on marking, stamina, aggression, and teamwork compared to other premier league teams, and we are dead last in passes completed, so this is some uber vertical, old school german style of play. Basically my perfect player DNA is Park Ji Sung.
I have 'run at defense' always on, and also my wing-backs overlap all the time (both on support). very risky but i am almost in top 20 head coach hall of fame using this tactic, or my 2 other similar variations of this. I am addicted, but after 13 years of journeyman career (starting unemployed with no experience or badges) I just won the Champions League with my 6th club (Tottenham) but I want to try something new, and my players are completely spent after 2-3 games and I have to rotate the squad a lot.
Can you please suggest me some other similar brute force tactic with as less build-up as possible?
I'm using a 433 as well at the moment, but I have tons of blocked crosses from my wingers, resulting in 15+ corners per match. Even with early crosses and less dribbling (so they would pass to the ball to the fullback who can cross) it keeps happening.

I would like you to do the 3 different 4-2-3-1 with Chelsea. I’ve just done a season with them and would like to see how differently you set them up to how I did. I think the squad really suits a 4-2-3-1 too.

If you're looking for a top team to use the 4231 with, Bayern would be a natural option. If you're looking more for a mid-table team, West Ham would be a great choice (they went to 4231 recently).

I've won the Championship with Blackburn Rovers using the 4-2-3-1 back in the beta. Went unbeaten in the league, 4th round of FA Cup vs Arsenal (3-4), lost a final in the Carabao Cup to Man City (1-2). Gives you great flexablity that side, because you can easly drop to 4-3-3 DM or 4-4-1-1 or 4-4-2 Narrow Diamond with very few transfers required. Prolly loan in right winger and you're set.
I've stopped using "tactics" since FM17 and just "play by ear". A lot of times I misunderstand my team and their mentality, but lately I've been getting it spot on and it's super rewarding when you overachieve.

We have just sacked our manager so a Dalgit 4231 video would look good on your CV. Although it's 0C when I got up, you probably have 30C so I would understand if you did not apply.

Would love to see a Rangnick style 424, which would be pretty much the epitome of Brute Force tactics. Imho.
I have to admit to favoring these kinds of high intensity tactics in my games. To the extent that in my next career, I'm going to set myself a challenge of playing radically different, with a direct passing style and consciously avoiding the high press.

i would like to request a video regarding systems of tactics - i just cannot seem to get this going in fm21 - where i use all three tactics slots to use tactics that are broadly similar to each other but allow me to be more attacking or defensive as i feel the situation allows - eg a 442 Diamond as the base tactic with a defensive 4132 Narrow and an attacking 4312 Narrow
Hmm that is a good idea, something i do a lot of, and there is one thing above all we need to pay attention to when doing something like that. Its player versatility. I might do a show on this. Good idea.
Ah man, for 4231, take Milan. Why:
- target man: Ibrahimović (and now also Manđukić)
- versatile Calhanoglu
- Rebić as winger or pressing forward
- strong Kessie
- both starting fullbacks can be offensive, specially the left one
- GK kinda good on foot

Is it a problem to set a mezzala on move into channels on the same side and an IF or IW who likes to move into channels or one who sits narrower?
I probably wouldn’t ask one of them to sit narrow, there is no issue telling a Mez and an IF to play on the same flank.

What position to you tell the fowards to mark? The fullbacks or the wingers?
If i have forwards in a 4231, one forward goes on their BPD, wingers go on their fullbacks

Hello BusttheNet. I was having a lot of problems with cut backs. low cross. And i dont know how to deal with it. if its in the air i can deal with it. but the low cross is very hard to counter.
Look for anticipation attribute in your defendeds.

Could we see a video on asymmetric formations? I did a asymmetric version of the 4 1 3 1. It became 4 1 2 2 1. Fucking disaster, end of season goal difference of plus 3 with 13 draws. Somehow finished 7th but struggled all season to kill off weaker teams and find the extra goals. Used anchor man/dlp, a cm on defend with a mezzla on attack, a inside forward on the left was meant to connect with the advanced forward with a attacking midfielder on attack. I choose this system because a free transfer mezzla/attacking midfielder turned out to be a wonder kid and a potential very good attacking midfielder/advanced playmaker was very cheap after being transferred listen. Tried to adopt the system of the best players in their best position but now will have to tear everything up and start again
