It's not a consistent combo in any way, but it's doable... PS: If you're gonna use any of the Rose Dragon cards I'd use Blue Rose Dragon, Because it can be an okay topdeck in a plant based pile deck.
Can we take a second and really admire how Predaplants have been supported? Every time they've gotten support, they've sured up weaknesses in the archetype, but through it all, they have kept true to their distinctly Fusion Predator Counters identity. They're an insanely cool archetype that has progressively gotten better but not busted while not only never losing their mechanical identity, but improving and iterating on it over time. THIS is how you design an archetype. Verte (rip) is a statistical outlier and is not considered in this statement.
Aaah Predaplants! I used to main them before switching over to Despia. They were fun, but I left for a reason. Thankfully, the new pendulums coming out will give them a boost.
I used to play them alot (in a deck with them and Gimmick Puppets, yes, it was weird), but nowadays I play Red Dragon Archfiends and am starting to tinker with Raidraptors
Lair of darkness is also a ridiculously good field spell since it makes everything dark and allows you to Tribute dark your opponent controls for tribute costed effects
I like how Predaplant's fusion monsters went on to be good generic super poly targets. Reflects how Yuri used Super Poly in the anime. Kinda hope we do get some other good Super Poly Targets though for other match ups. Maybe requiring Light Monsters, Same Monster Type, or even different Extra Deck Types. Likely not as part of Predaplant but it'd be a neat thing to help against other match ups
Fallen of Albaz is an interesting successor to that idea, I think. Albaz has a Superpoly-type effect when summoned (even requiring you to use an opponent’s card), and a variety of fusions with different requirements. So far, he can fuse with: a monster with 2500+ ATK, a level 8+ monster, any monster special summoned the same turn, a LIGHT monster, a DARK monster, or a Fusion/Synchro/Xyz/Link monster. And that’s just the fusions explicitly requiring him. He can also be used for stuff like Panzer Dragon, Mysterion the Dragon Crown, and Beast-Eyes Pendulum Dragon.
@@enlongjones2394 all very true though he's also not as good as Super Poly in that he needs to stay on the field and can be reacted to. Though he does also have a ton of specific support due to his central role in the Albaz Storyline. So Super Poly is more reliable but Albaz has more support. Personally though, I'd simply like some Super Poly targets who are more general and applicable for other scenarios. Like one that requires 2 Wyrms or 2 Light Monsters. Gilti-Gearfried makes a good Super Poly Target against Heroes due to their various attributes.
Albaz honestly needs more supports to make his unreliable spell-speed 1 worth it. He should’ve never required the stupid negative -1 card advantage to use his easily negatable ability. Super poly is a -1 in card advantage because it is a strong card in general that can’t be negated. After the tearalaments and even branded, Albaz’s badly designed ability becomes even more irritating. You have to normal summon this fucker for his pathetic spell speed 1 and there are tons of scenarios where you want him to fuse with your own cards. For God’s sakes, retrain him to be a quick effect and/or lose the lousy negative 1, make more pro-discard Albaz monster cards akin to Tearalaments, or anything else really.
@@justice8718plenty of branded cards specifically work to mitigate the cost of Albaz's discard. Not to mention that the effect works on normal or special summon and he has an version (Albion the Shrouded Dragon) that can special summon itself or send Branded cards from deck to grave. Plus he even has a Miracle Fusion, Branded in White, that can bring out his Fusions and recycles itself if used as discard fodder. Plus a lot of his Fusions are more than worth it
@@justice8718 not arguing with your other points, but you can use Albaz’s fusion effect when he’s special summoned. That’s something that Incredible Ecclesia can pull off by tributing herself. He’s still vulnerable to negation, mind.
Pure predaplants are already quite good with the new support, But with Branded they have access to tools that makes you feel like your cheating. Then again, that's the whole idea behind the deck, underhanded tactics to snipe a win.
Using Branded as an engine for the deck is really good! One Albaz, two-three Alubers and two-three Branded fusions make the "pure" variant of the deck so much more consistent and flexible. The fusion spell is an easy way to dump Byblisp or Triantis for a search or counter spreading. Being a dark archetype with level 8 monsters (including Triantis) makes them compatible with a lot of Branded fusions too. Lubellion on his own can kickstart so many plays and options.
Both decks are a perfect fit with each other because each side of the deck gives you access to the other side. If you just open Branded stuff send Byblisp with Branded Fusion and if you just open Predaplant stuff search Branded Fusion with Darlingtonia Cobra. Predaplant Branded even was a good Rouge Deck in the OCG and topped a few times as far as I know and that even though Orphrys Scorpio is limited over there.
I do really like Predaplant Cordyceps, mostly only because it is the only Predaplant monster that can summon Darlingtonia Cobra from somewhere that isn't the Deck! So if you hard brick on Cobra and don't have a way to put it back in deck you can just dump both to the GY and wait until next turn to summon it and add a Super Poly, Branded Fusion, or Fusion Destiny which'll really help you swing back into the game :) Plus, I often find myself putting too many Predaps in the GY in one turn and running out of good stuff to send so it's nice having something else to send for later lmao
Hey, Ive just picked up this deck recently and I wanted to thank you for having such an in depth overview as well as some recommendations for cards outside of the archetype. Really helpful stuff, even a year later.
Love this archetype, more than anything I'm glad the support from DIFO is actually usable because often times legacy support ends up being 1 or 2 really good cards and the rest are conditional at best. But just take a second to gather that predaplants have access to a total of 5 name search cards and multiple monsters that can summon from deck, most decks would kill for more than one.
I found this channel today and the truth is that I love the new preplant support gives a lot of versatility to the deck I've been playing for about 5 6 years the deck lmao

honestly marjom, jasmine and blessed winds and pollinosis are intrsting addons for a preta deck, marjom can manish and special summon if a plant is destroyed, jasime draws, blessed can recycle any plant or revive any aromage in grave and pollinous is an omni negate garden can heal along with giving a 500 atk/def boost
When I saw this, I thought it'd be a really fun deck to play in Masterduel. Shame that the deck on MD doesn't have all of them in the game to run a pure Predaplant deck.
Verte IS a predaplant card, just not a good one. I see what they where going for with it but predaplants have so many better options and verte's restrictions mean that you have almost no reason to EVER go into it. I've went into verte a total of 5 times since its release when playing Predaplants. Just not worth it.

It was meant to help anything Fusion related during the MR4 days to open up more zones. It was just a huge coincidence that it could be used in any deck because the stars decided to align.

I run a pur predaplant deck, and able to summon predpower, greedy venom, and Supreme king starving venom. The synergy with them is amazing, and that's If I don't replace greedy with trypho...by then got counters on my own monsters, Supreme king copies trypho, and attack for game. Usually I can pull it off in one turn
Wait... Spino attacks (a lower level monster), summons Banksiogre, Barone Aromages works surprisingly decent with some members of Predap gang: Scorpio & Cobra, but Chlamy too with something like Marjoram on hand
GoldenNova. I'm surprised that you didn't mention Possessed Dark Soul as a spicy tech choice. Get a Predator Counter on all your opponents monsters that have a level. Then summon Dark Soul to permanently steal them.
If they decide to make more support for predaplant's they could do something like a basilisk mixed with a monkshood and give it 2 heads for example, maybe even create a field spell that can help as well.
verte shouldve never been generic, that's te main issue. make it 2 predaplant monsters and it's fine. a great boon to a rogue deck, while not being usable in any deck under the sun. Errata Pleeeaaaaase also I run an edge imp chain engine in order to value off of the discards inherant to the starters I play (scorpio and keeper of dragon magic).
I do know that (from a mistake I did) when I played with this deck in master duel and I do it a lot. Ranks or links don't change the monster just gets a counter and that's that.
If you want another archetype most people knows for one card and nobody use the rest of the archetype examples: Dinowrestlers Mecha phantom beast Genex(like I can think of 4 or 5) Fairy tail

In the OCG, he could copy Lindwurm who has an Extra deck monster negate combined with a non-target bounce but Starving Venom only copies card effects during your turn until the End phase, so this is useless unless you're already ahead in your strategy: you can't use it to fend off handtraps and your opponent will probably have exhausted their Extra deck monster interruption by the point you summon the Supreme King (or get his effect to resolve, which is further complicated by the prevalence of Bystials).
I can’t wait for Yuri and his Predaplant’s to be added in Duel Links. Also what would you name Starving Venom Fusion Dragon’s effect and attack? I was thinking it’s effect should be called Toxic Mimicry and it’s Special Attack should be called Lethal Ravenous Charge. The latter was because Odd-Eyes and Clear Wing have “Spiral Flame STRIKE” and “Spinstorm Sky STRIKE”, while Dark Rebellion is the only Dragon that has “Mauling Mandible CHARGE”.
I create Fanfic with Starving in it. For the effect I named it "Binge Eater (Glutton) for copy and/or gain effect/ATK". Nuking effect is nameless (haven't decide it). For his attack I named it "Dreadnought Invasion" a ref to Venom Invasion booster pack.

Honestly, as long as they don't add the new support, the deck would be fine. Without links, pre support makes like 1 fusion

I was thinking it’s effect should be called Toxic Mimicry and it’s Special Attack should be called Lethal Ravenous Charge.
The latter was because Odd-Eyes and Clear Wing have “Spiral Flame STRIKE” and “Spinstorm Sky STRIKE”, while Dark Rebellion is the only Dragon that has “Mauling Mandible CHARGE”.
I create Fanfic with Starving in it. For the effect I named it "Binge Eater (Glutton) for copy and/or gain effect/ATK". Nuking effect is nameless (haven't decide it).
For his attack I named it "Dreadnought Invasion" a ref to Venom Invasion booster pack.
