Back in the day I owned one of these. The original engine lasted 25 yrs. Dropped a 4K into it. It was so much fun to drive. The body roll though...... OMG that body roll..... good job boys. Your mechanical skills reminded me so much of me in my youth!!
+1 for more dyno videos. Get that supra back on. Been in Queensland on holiday the past few weeks and driving through Cleveland and heard this loud v8. Look over my shoulder and there was max psi 😂 loved it 🤙🏾
Unlike efi where you can make incremental adjustments to everything in software, weber performance depends on all the jets, tubes, aux/venturis being the right size and having a suitable emulsion tube for the application to maintain the right AF across the board. Given that this one is designed to be screaming its head off all the time, having too big an air corrector may be why its lean up top. Incorrect AF rather than insufficient fuel. I'm guessing its moving a lot of air at peak revs. That suggests an emulsion tube with less holes or smaller holes, rather than more. More holes or bigger holes in the emulsion tube is going to make it leaner up high. Easiest way of experimenting is to get a pile of jets, emulsion tubes and air corrector and make up a few sets and try them out. I'm thoroughly impressed with butchering the main jets like that all the same. But what more impressive (expected really) is you got a result. But science for a better result for sure.
some of the most entertaing 33 mins I've seen in a while. Backyard fuel jet adjustments, blind timing adjustments and just having a lot of fun ... You guys are Legends ... keep up the great work .... :))))
I'd like to see more dyno videos like this. There are a lot of them out there that are just kind of boring, but yours tend to have enough goofy shenanigans, fun/sketchy tricks to try and get afr's right, I really enjoy them.
Yes to dyno pulls, the figuring out how to get more where it needs, the sprinkles, injector and fuel pump limitations, boost leaks and all the good stuff.
My 4zc1 Gemini ran the screwdriver adjustable Dribbletech, it ran flat 13s for a while (quick for the 90s kids), it died an untimely death not long after I sold it👌 This video brings back memories 😁
Down draft versus side draft? I appreciate you blokes are having fun playing around with old School technology, and yet you both know throttle bodies would yield much better results! The kE10 sounded great at Rotary Revival!
Emulation tube is a timing of main jet ( fuel curve) Any engine that is very peaky needs much larger main jet vs air corrector. Most importantly must have larger needle and seat vs main Jet.
laughed. you need the weber "number drill box" . and a hand drill. . with a DCO and also i think dellorto there is one extra level of adjust-ability you get than the IDA. there is several choices in aux venturi . you have already seen that drilling out the fuel jets only works so far as it is limited by internal diameter of the E tube , and that playing the air jet larger richens midrange ( brings on mains ) earlier but leans the top end . atm the issue you are seeing limits set by flow though the aux venturi . you can up the size. maybe a 4.5 or 5.0
Ha! 9:32 reminded me of an SCCA event in which our grand old RX7 was being particularly hard to start. Prior to each run, we chained it to our tow rig and dragged it around the paddock until it would finally fire off... What I'm trying to say is, why don't you perform the necessary wiring mods on the dyno to turn it into a super starter motor for times like this? I'm sure the Hoff is up to the task...
More emulsion tube ftw, reckon you’ll see 190 then, doubt its draining the bowls as even with 3mm main jets the fuel pump will supply way more flow than its drinking. Another ace video, you guys crack me up 🤣🤣
My dads rotary had a 50mm cube welded to the side of the bowl because it was empting the bowl around the 5000-5500 rpm and the fuel pumps couldn't keep up
All I can say to that intro is CHUR! 😂👍 Thankyou very much for the advice Hoff last night on the flex plate, you really calmed my nerves down. I'm currently cleaning the intake out of 30yrs of carbon and 15yr old caked on blow-by. 🤮
great to see the rotorolla again :D good to see the effects of the changes you made in real life dyno etc :D be good to see it out at another cruise now it goes beter :D useless info time ? you can use NGK B9EGV stock #5827 for leading and trailing sparkplugs (it has changed part number, cant remember new p/n) gives very good response and power, also re fuel pump, minimum youll need is a holley blue fuel pump, it usually comes with a holley fuel pressure regulator too, that way you wont run out of fuel for that setup, you could also use a 3" exhaust system for power too, 2 1/4" or 2 1/2" header pipes into the 3" system :D
Opening the fuel jets past 250/275ish won't do much because of the size of the other fuel passages. Closing up the air jets will make it richer at the top, but will make the rich hole in the middle worse. You might need smaller chokes to 'pull' harder on the fuel. A higher float level might help too - to prevent flooding, make sure the tab which sits on the needle is exactly at 90 degrees to the needle; if it's wonky, it'll push the needle sideways and the needle won't seat properly. (I've messed around with Webers on a dyno a few times, was hilarious seeing you learning from scratch. :) )
And yeah, soldering up jets before re-drilling is a good way to undo over-drilling them when you don't have a stock of jets. Normal electronics solder and a chef's blowtorch work well.
Really good video guys!! No-one does this anymore!! Did u end up closing the air correctors back up a bit?? Also lock the dizzy around 20 degrees advance
dyno and tinkering videos are good. keep this type of beer-engineering content rolling in. esp now as this is not technically finished, we need to see it again with stuff to fix it and maybce crack 200. if you want to do it dodgytake the single injector ecm fire thing you made for the gokart and activate that in the high rpm? maybe inject e85 have some petrol by low and e85 by high rpm thing.
+1 for more dyno videos and blowing huntsman’s across the floor.
Will the patrol fit on the dyno ok?
Little dude was just like BRAPBRAPBRAPBRAP "fuckfuckfuckfuck this I'm out"
Huntsmans are responsible for more poo than diahorrea.
@@JesusisJesus ...what does that even mean?
Ppl shit themselves when they see a huntsman..........
This thing sounds bloody awesome!!!
When skid factory doing a brap build ?
Turbo, so the gods don't rage.
turbo to blow apex seals as well as spiders away
RIGHT???
F11 tubes, 42mm chokes, 225 mains, 150 airs, 3mm needle.
Normally gives around 13.0 afr on a bridge with a 48ida.
Can I add 2.5-3.0 fuel pressure.
With the sheer reliability and whisper quiet operation of these rotary's it's a mystery as to why they didn't take over everywhere.
"I'll drill the shit, I don't care"
ha ha ha, love it, put a stamp on it and SEND IT

9:11 This is the content i subscribe for
Lol at Steve the Maori!! This has to be theeeeeeee best build going atm that rotary pulse is insane

Love for Nuggets from NZ
Keen for dyno videos, explain stuff like how much timing and why and shit like that
some of the most entertaing 33 mins I've seen in a while. Backyard fuel jet adjustments, blind timing adjustments and just having a lot of fun ... You guys are Legends ... keep up the great work .... :))))
You got to love the noise from a rotor. I do!
it's not about what could go wrong,
it's about how spectacular it looks on tv
How that back axle is still in one piece is a miracle... Love your work fellas.
I'd like to see more dyno videos like this. There are a lot of them out there that are just kind of boring, but yours tend to have enough goofy shenanigans, fun/sketchy tricks to try and get afr's right, I really enjoy them.
Well it doesn’t bloody sound right, does it! Best movie ever
"Drill'em out and Find out!" Love it
love the old tooling it’s very interesting
Yes to dyno pulls, the figuring out how to get more where it needs, the sprinkles, injector and fuel pump limitations, boost leaks and all the good stuff.
I remember screw driver adjusting the micro tech back in 1987 and motec , ace bro that nostalgic....
1997?
My 4zc1 Gemini ran the screwdriver adjustable Dribbletech, it ran flat 13s for a while (quick for the 90s kids), it died an untimely death not long after I sold it👌 This video brings back memories 😁
Sure does this two young dude are awesome, and you can tell they not good with old school, but the new skool man he know how to tune,
Just keep adding fuel and timing till it all comes together. Classic 👌
16:54 very accurate generated subtitle
More Dyno vids! Love that you guys don't just quit on stuff, keep trying until you get results and appreciate the trial and error
I don't care how much power it makes it sounds fantastc!
those RX8 captions were too real.
Rev it to eleventy !!!! Hell yeah!
Would do twelvety with a bit more fuel pressure!
How good was the sneaky 'Running on Empty' quotes 😂
Rob B well piss off and check the streets
@@parkeslife4323 well it doesn't sound right does it!
Rob B Just ya basic green. Green huh, green is noice!
Hey boys ,got to do more dyno videos, you guys are great 👍
"It went much faster without you in it.."
"Oh, did it? ..Surprising"
"Not really"
😂
DEFINITELY more dyno tuning, very entertaining and could be educational if you used some correct parts ;)
Mate this is the Best thing ive seen EVER ! Hoff on his knees tuning is sooo cool so cool please post updates
Sick, glad to see and enjoy an NA car in a world where boost is a-typical
F11 with one extra hole to help with the flatspot is the dux guts apparently
Hell yeah more dyno videos with more creative tuning !
Down draft versus side draft? I appreciate you blokes are having fun playing around with old School technology, and yet you both know throttle bodies would yield much better results! The kE10 sounded great at Rotary Revival!
Love you guys, love your work and sense of humour by the way the corolla is a real nugget love it,☺☺☺.
This car is awesome!! I dig the sound of it idling as much as an unladen hit-and-miss industrial engine.
Emulation tube is a timing of main jet ( fuel curve)
Any engine that is very peaky needs much larger main jet vs air corrector.
Most importantly must have larger needle and seat vs main Jet.
love this idea. my first car was an early corolla, wish i had put a rotary in it!
Yeah, drilling out the air bleeds will lean fuel out at the top end as more air comes in reducing the signal to the fuel bowl...
G'day from West Australia,
Fun watching this😉🙂👍👍
The 9 mm drill bit would have sorted it for sure!
Party up the front environmental disaster out the back
Best comment 😂
10:28 that spider makes a run for it lol
I know everything l need to know about working on rotaries cos Scott n Mark showed me so.....
Also make sure air cleaner base plate has float bowl vent hole.
Yep, love to see more dino vids......but only if you drill out all of the jets
Yeah loving the dyno vids. And spider-fan was so funny... Get him back

Grab a used Microtech and some wrecker parts including a handful of Denso 850s and increase the pump settings to the max... profit!
Best video you’ve done I think. Bloody funny, but interesting too. Loved it
Love the dyno videos! Should've taken it for a spin after to see if you can feel the difference also. Such a mad little nugget.
Yes please! Supra 1000 with good head gaskets!

Dyno vids are good sometimes, definitely mix one in every now and again. My wife hates them :D
Tuning by drill bit. Loved it.
ahhh the old drill tune on the rotary
This makes BoostedBoiz look professional 😂 great video
Mate please do more of these dyno's hahaha ,feels bit like old school .... Fun times , just need some beers hahaha
0:55 "150 to 180-ish..."
You were talking about decibels, right?
The problem after moving the dizzy was he didn't yell "Clear Prop!!!"
I like the way you guys work.
Definitely more dyno vids guys! This was awesome. Chur from NZ
Junk the weber and go turbo and injection . Finally got through your back catalogue.. awesome laugh's 🤘🤘
That was such a fun episode, bloody entertaining
Definitely more Dyno tuning boys! Love that shit.

Industry Standard rotary tuning?
Love it!
+1 for additional dyno fuckery

yeah mate I don't mind the old dyno video
Laughed so hard at this! Looking forward to the follow-up. Cheers from a 12A idiot in Canada!
Love the Dyno sessions !!
Yes to more dyno videos please.
nice drill bit theory..
I have to say this is nugget at it best bro, classic or I mean nostalgic bro...

Those running on empty references 👌🤣
3 cheers for that Starter...
Such a good episode, and the comments section as well 😂
This is nugget garage at it best, got grand daughter, grandson, and most of all got the farno from the kiwi land....I mean grandpa...
At least it was just one carb... Imagine a straight six with 3 ;)
We had those here on a factory Mopar.

DYNO VIDS ARE THE BEST VIDS
Lol, that intro was golden lol
More dyno videos please, makes for great content. VL needs to be 1000 for internet glory
This was awesome to watch. Good learning.
Great work guys, the vids are getting better and better 👌
I love 12A's but you never see builds for them on RUclips till now
Welcome to da rotary old school bro...
Yes more dyno videos
