  • OnePlus Nord N10 5G Review - Why I WOULDN'T Buy It. The OnePlus Nord N10 5G has just had it's live launch, and in this video, I talk through my usage since the unboxing in a full in-depth, walkthrough review, of all the features and my impressions of the OnePlus Nord N10 5G after some real everyday use. It has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset, 90hz refresh rate 6.49" FHD+ LCD display, a 64MP Quad Camera, and 4K video. It's great for light gaming, but may struggle with juicier titles like PubG, Fortnite and Call Of Duty (COD) etc or high frame rate games. It does score well on benchmark test scores, falling just below the likes of the 765G that we see in the OnePlus Nord. It does have stereo speakers, 4300 mAh battery capacity, and up to 6GB Ram and 128GB of Storage! It's running on Android 10, with Oxygen OS over the top, and there is also a headphone jack! 30W Warp Charge 30T fast charging and it's some great premium mid-range features! But, no wireless or reverse wireless charging, a build consisting of gorilla glass 3 and plastic construction, no amoled display, and I feel you are compromising quite a lot here considering it is still priced over £300. I feel the original Nord at just £50 more offers a lot more for your money, and if you are on a real budget and looking for a new smartphone in 2020, the OnePlus Nord N100 is only £179! Let me know in the comments what you think!

No OnePlus phone deserves to be my favourite
All 8 series phones and OnePlus Nord had display issues
Asus counterparts of the OnePlus 8 series were pretty good and I preferred them more
And the N10 and N100 I don't understand why OnePlus even launched these devices
And S20 FE is much better than OnePlus 8T

I need a phone phone upgrade and honestly this is gonna be it because it's the best of the budget devices. I ordered a OnePlus 7t on Amazon a while ago for like $450 and when I recieved it, it wasn't unlocked and the store was like you have to contact the seller about it complete waste of time. I couldn't use the phone with my sim at all. I don't even trust "unlocked" phones from online anymore.

IMHO....The Nord and N10 are for 2 different type of users. The N10 fits a particular user's requirements better than the Nord. Eg: The N10 has the rear fingerprint scanner, headphone jack, microSD card slot and stereo speakers. Some users value these feature more than the Nord's OLED screen, ultrawide front camera and better processor.

I opted for the OnePlus Nord 256gb, and I'm slightly regretting not waiting and stumping up a little bit more for the 8T. I have screen calibration issues on mine, where the whites can't decide if they are warm or cool and seem to keep flicking in between, so when i'm reading a white page it keeps adjusting the colour. There doesn't seem to be any fix coming from One+ either and it is really frustrating!! Thanks for another fab review!

The LCD is honestly the reason why i think about buying the N10.
OLED displays are actually quite shitty for phones, the only reason for the OLED craze is the heavy advertising they threw at it.
It was new, it was really dark, it sounded like the new, noble option. But for the few upsides you get also extreme downsides, which are especially noticeable when trying to read a lot and scroll a lot. Which is why Desktop monitors still use LCDs and not OLED like TVs.
And honestly, i read more on my phone than i watch movies that really need the true-black advantage.
OLEDs are trash for phones, stop saying they are superior. LCDs are far better for the average phone (unless you use it for gaming)

    • @kingmonkey88
      @kingmonkey88 3 года назад

That's what I've been saying. A good quality LCD is as good if not better than an OLED, the OLED has deeper blacks and a top quality one can be really nice. Pictures and colours can be punchy and some pictures look really good with that pop. But colours are over saturated and gives everything a glossy magazine like quality. Not true to life, looks edited or fake. Pictures and videos can look great but flat. Too much black can crush the details. Can get tiring after a while. I tried a OP Nord and that screen just gave me eye strain.
LCD's have a more natural tone and things look more realistic and true to life. I find the LCD more pleasing with extended use.
OLED was due to the Samsung marketing hype when they were launched. They looked more punchier in the shops but are not the most accurate screens. But now it seems to have stuck that they are superior. The reviewers didn't help by saying the OLED were better and not actually highlighting the differences.
Just wish we had more options for phone screens.

And in that sense, Oneplus has made a device that can honestly say that, although a flagship may offer better performance, all the quality-of-life experiences from a flagship can be brought down to something affordable. If I plugged in a phone, got a usable charge in 30 minutes, downloaded a movie over 5G, scrolled through my news feed with then smoothness of a 90hz panel...I wouldn't think it's a $300 device.
It may not be the Nord. But it's certainly something you don't find in the $300 price point.

You missed probably the most important reason not to buy the N10 or N100....OnePlus claiming to only provide 'one' Android update on them. And if what I heard is correct and they're shipping with Android 10 (with Android 11 already on OnePlus 8's), then that's a deal killer.

I'm using the n10 to watch this video and I live in usa. It's the best quality phone for the price you can get INSIDE of a stores selection at least when I bought it six months ago. I spent 265 dollars for the phone and was given a good case as well. I'm a Call of duty mobile player and for the price this was the best I could get in store. I don't have an issue with the phone playing my game if connected to good wifi but playing on my data in my building is t always the best. I'll get anywhere from 45 ms to 70 ms while on Data in my building but if I connect to a good wifi and play I get around 13 to 17ms and it plays the game quite well on max frame rate and of I choose medium graphics though I usually play on low. Overall of I had known about the Poco x3 pro phone at the time I would have ordered it considering it has a Snapdragon 860 with 6/128 storage or the 8gb ram for 300. Overall the phone is ok I'm somewhat pleased with it. Just wish I would have known about the Poco x3 pro.

I'm only searching for the Xioami Mi10T that is 50USD more expensive for the same reasons as the N100. If it had 120hz AMOLED or better, at a price point OnePlus was known for and which Xiaomi still is known for: it's price, I would've bought that.
Do you know when the Mi 12 will arrive? January? And if it comes with these specs? (ofcourse I don't mind if it has an 875 by then).

440 nit rating. (Yes "nit") brightness rating. It's not a very bright phone. Good range is 600+ for those bright sunny days. You'll basically just need to shade your phone.
... On the flip side I like the LCD for it's far more natural contrast with the empirically better black and whites particularly being the AMLOD's yellow yuck yuck (If you didn't know AMLOD makes whites a very noticeable yellow. Compare. You learn to spot what a phone's screen is real quick based on that alone

    Rear Camera - Oppo
    Front/Selfie Camera - Vivo
Flagship Performance with good camera - Oneplus
Budget (Mainly to try overtake Redmi) - Realme
But now, it seems they ignoring these setup, mixed multiple pros on their each childs. For example, nowaday Vivo will have great camera on rear and front. And also have a budget Vivo too.
My question, why tho? I heard Redmi also about to launch their first gaming phone, while they already have Poco and Blackshark.

Now, I just need to root it (any tips folks? Can't get any process via fastboot etc to work on websites which claim its feasible) & get the font a decent size on WWF game!! Expandable storage a huge plus (why others dropping it I have no idea) but could do without headphone jack (as we have had BT for about 15 yrs now - why bother with headphone socket manufacturers??! Just makes a slim phone thicker!!)

Sadly in North America, OnePlus Nord isn't really available and if you try to buy it from any dealer it is $100 dollars more so the next best thing is the Nord 10 5G, and on a stricter budget the N100. This is also taking into consideration the mobile carrier (low end / Cricket or Metro / At&t or T-Mobile) so if you can find a better phone with better specs I would suggest simply looking if it is compatible with your carrier buy your own and bring it in. As for this phone that is available at the dealer, this isn't too bad for the average person and can last you a couple years until Samsung has a better flagship phone at better retail pricing or any phone in general.
-Side note it has a headphone jack which my car needs to play music...lol so I'm getting it. It was either this or the Samsung 20 FE which is close to $450-$500... yeesh.

But the downside is, it does not have an audio jack, needs to use a connector/converter. imagine you forgot the USB-type c converter to the audio jack, and you cant listen to your podcast on a long journey. Bluetooth audio is bad on mi a2.
and looking at one plus Nord n10, same price range, similar hardware spec except no infrared,
the advantage is it got an audio jack, a nice speaker, Bluetooth audio seems better, GPS locks well. and NFC(which i have no idea when to use it)
for me it depends on the user. worth the shot. if you want to buy the phone, please test and compare with your current smartphone.
if it is seems as good upgrade within your budget, then take it with no turning back.
