Great idea, I think it would be better suited for stripping large cable insulation. As you need to be able to adjust the depth for pipe. With cable you only need to cut just a small part of the insulation and then bend back and forth to break the the remainder. Using a box cutter will sometimes cut the wires inside while leaving a break in those wires.
Like so often, you destroy a perfectly useful tool, to create an other (bad) tool. I always wonder:"Why, in heavens name do you do that?!!!" The tool you create usually is impractical or unusable.

Yes, the optimal thing to do is to go buy a proper tubing cutter and no, no one is going to go out and buy a brand new wrench to drill holes in and purchase all of the other components necessary for the build just for the hell of it. If you happen have an old adjustable wrench and other stuff lying around you just might feel like creating something. You also might be in the middle of a plumbing job knee deep in water in your basement, need a cutter and happen to be flat broke and can't afford one. In an emergency repair this wold be good information to have. Bravo for all of the negative comments and trolling faceless and anonymous youtubers who have no content of their own posted on their channels but love to put other people down for their creativity. Maybe you ought to try to dazzle us with your brilliance sometimes since everyone else here are clearly morons.
Yes, very clever but because of the depth of the jaw you can't cut bigger pipes, that's why someone invented pipe cutters. But I don't want to piss on your parade.

Humm. Nice technique. The economics don't work. if I had to buy the parts it would equal or exceed the price of a simple PVC pipe cutter.
Nice vid but why go to all the expense and time to make a pvc cutter when you can buy one for $10 and it cuts it in a couple of seconds.
