    Nice video. Just seasoned mine and will use it tomorrow for burgers and brats. Pro tip: add aluminum foil to line the ash pan and cleanup is a breeze.

    I just brought mine Friday from home depot, from looking at the video I thought it was big till you see it in person.
    It's a nice grill so what I did I sprayed painted mines with rust-oleum high heat with ultra glow and it came out nice. Getting tired of individuals complaining about the grill you have to make the grill yours so the next step is going toput on the gasket strips, but rather than that I'm very happy with the grill.

    I just season my kitchenaid charcoal grill yesterday followed the instructions in the manual, I brought a bag of the kingford match light charcoal I have to say the briquette didn't take long to turn gray.
    Now the temperature when up to 516 f satisfied with that, the temperature could have gone up high if I had a couple of nice size wood chucks.
    It holds temperature real good it took some time for the temperature to start dropping, so when it finally dropped to 250 I opened the smoke stake a little bit to see how long it would hold at 250 and it did pretty good, If anybody can help me with this next question should I use hickory lodges or wood chucks I think that the hickory lodge wood from home depot would last longer.

    This is a great grill for smoking. Remove the right hand grill and you can snake coals around a wood box and have easy access to add more when needed. That leaves the left side available for meats. You can even have a water pan below your meats. The air gap at the height lever lets air in, and the meat is between the coals and the chimney. It's a pretty good setup.

      Interesting!!! Thank you for that suggestion. We may do just that and experiment with smoking here at the office.

    Thanks for such a great video review of this product. I just purchased mine today 4/29/18 and plan to fire it up next weekend. I had HD assemble it; rather they gave me the display model so it was already assembled but I had no problem with that as it was not "handled" much by customers as it was up on a shelf that you had to have a ladder to get a look at. Assembly seems fine but time will tell. I did buy HD's "universal" grill cover for $11+ change; it fit's perfectly. I wanted to be sure to have a cover because while the grill is housed under my pergola the rain will still get it wet and I don't want rust setting in before the end of this upcoming grilling season. After reading many reviews and watching videos I will line the ash tray with foil each time I use the grill. I HATE emptying ashes and when using my other charcoal grills I always line them with foil on the bottom before adding the charcoal so that when it's done burning all I have to do is roll up the ashes in the foil and throw it away. Easy. Peasy. Keeping my fingers crossed that my new KitchenAid grill will serve me well for at least the next few years. BTW...I paid $199 in store. It wasn't on sale but I see that it sells for $229 online. Go figure.

    Hello My name is Tim Williams I'm watching you Using the Kitchen Aid Cart Charcoal Grill. I understand that You're seasoning first Are you suppose to do that everytime you begin using your Charcoal Grill Please LEt me know Thank you.

      Hey Tim. Only need to season once. Do a dry run without food on the grates. You would only need to reseason if you used some type of grill cleaner and washed it down. Maybe every few years if ever. Like a cast iron skillet. Only need to season once. Thanks for your support and interest in my channel. HAPPY GRILLING.

    *I like the idea of this grill,* but some suggestions to KitchenAide: increase the height of the charcoal basket, because the basket is still not low enough to do adequate smoking. I see one will still need to move the hot coals to one side for smoking BBQ.
    PLUS, it would make it easier to add large wood chunks without lifting the cooking grate. And for ONLY $200 & weighing in at under 100lbs seems nice.

  • @SmokinwithKasket
    @SmokinwithKasket  8 лет назад +2

    One would never cook in the ash pan. It's only for removing the ash created from the smoldering charcoal briquettes.

    The ash pan collects ashes that have fallen from the charcoal briquettes as they burn down.

      Last Man Of Tomorrow - hi there. Thanks for watching the video and supporting my channel. So far the girl has been a really really good purchase there’s nothing more that I can think of that I might’ve forgotten about in the video. We’re happy with it and it seems to be of very good quality. I think it will last a long time although we do keep it indoors and covered when not used. I’m fairly certain you will not be disappointed with this purchase. Stay safe.

    I really enjoyed how Fredo the Pitmaster uses the charcoal fluid bottle to spread out the coals.... 🚒 really smart. I don't recommend anyone to ever do that even those in his case there were no hot coals. Thank God

      Snowflakes today should maybe wear a “hazmat” suit with fire retardant face shield, gloves and nomex. WTF. There’s always a comment that makes me go WTFO?!?! The grill was brand new, never been used and he was going to burn off the manufacturers paint and season the grill. He used the bottle to spread out the goals. Big deal. 😱

      I just bought this grill. I’m new at this. What’s wrong with using lighter fluid. That’s the only thing I saw people use.

    • @SmokinwithKasket
      @SmokinwithKasket  5 лет назад +2

      @@Jigsawmaster1 - Hi John, in the heart and soul of the smoking and grilling community, lighter fluid is frowned upon because it is an accelerant made from natural gas condensates and petroleum distillates. These chemicals can result in leaving a bad taste to your meat or food you are cooking. One should get in the habit from the get-go to use a chimney starter. No chemicals!!!

    • @Jigsawmaster1
      @Jigsawmaster1 5 лет назад +1
