Grilled Tomahawk Ribeye Steak Recipe
Whether you call it a Caveman, Cowboy, or Tomahawk; this ribeye steak is the King. Weighing in at well over 3lbs, it’s one “Hoss” of a steak.
If you’re going to shell out the money for a prime cut like this you want to be sure to know how to cook it right.
For this recipe I fire up my charcoal grill set up for a 2 zone fire - hot side and cool side; I also add a set of GrillGrates for even cooking temps and perfect grill marks.
Season the steak with a good dose of Salt, Black Pepper, and Garlic; I use my Killer Hogs AP Seasoning but you can use your favorite seasonings. Let it hang out at room temperature for a half hour so the seasonings can start working into the meat.
After 30 minutes apply a light coat of coarse Killer Hogs Steak Rub and sear it on the hot side of the grill about 5 minutes each side. Be sure to give it a twist half way through each side so the steak develops grill marks.
Carefully take the tomahawk off the grill (use a good set of grill gloves) and place it on a raised rack over the cool side of the grill. At this point you want to monitor the internal temperature. Insert a probe thermometer into the center of the steak set for 125⁰ or your desired doneness.
Place a shallow aluminum pan under the steak and add a stick of butter, fresh sprigs of rosemary and thyme, and ¼ cup olive oil. As the steak cooks, baste it every few minutes with the butter mixture.
Once it hits desired internal temperature…I like it medium rare…remove it from the grill and rest for at least 10 minutes.
A steak like this is great served right on the cutting board. Cut the bone off and simply slice it into desired pieces against the grain. And don’t forget to gnaw on that bone…That’s where the best flavor is!!

This is my first charcoal grill after a lifetime of gas. ruclips.net/user/postUgkxBPjh-m7-eaAjTEt8BOZRSRRxXqxiI90W The food in it turns out great. Also, the ash remover makes it easy to clean. The base is sturdy and it has ample space inside.I use a chimney to get it started, and it seems pretty efficient. One chimney is enough to cook a whole lot of meat and still keeps burning. If you close the vents it cools down well making it so the coals remaining are still usable as supporting cast members (you still need fresh coals to get them going.I was going to get something bigger, but realized with coal, bigger is just more wasteful and harder to cook with.
I bought a tomahawk steak at costco a few weeks ago which was the first time I ever saw one other than at a restaurant. I followed this recipe and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had! Thank you Malcom!

Thanks for the recipe, I made this using a beautiful tomahawk from my local butcher. I marinated it in some mustard powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, sea salt and cracked pepper. I seared it on my Weber per instruction and then turned it down to low for the inside cook, I cooked it 15 mins - Was a little more medium than I would have liked. I should have kept a better eye on my meat thermometer. But was delicious with the garlic butter basting.
I used his method 100% right on - tried this 3x each time it came out perfect….thank you for making this video for us

very expensive because the more you SMELL bbq in your hood, the more you'll go and buy expensive cuts to throw on the grill....
beyond california level
You notice how nice the nearby houses are? Some of the south is economically recessed right now, but I'd still want to be willing to drop $600,000 or more to consider that neighborhood. This is just based off NC prices I've been looking at so I could be way off.

Ramen soup is great with all the right ingredients. Chicharrones, a lil bit of mayo, splash of mustard, a lil bit of beans , diced up pickles , sriracha, and if it’s a lil too dry. Add some pickle juice. Top it off with broken up Doritos And don’t forget the Snyder jalapeño pretzels. Fire!!!!! Either with bread or saltine crackers.

Was thinking I'd do the same, but wasn't sure about the cooking temp. What do you mean by 325 to 130?
Hi there!
Just wanted to leave a quick comment to show my appration for this video. I host a bbq once a year with my best friend at his parents house in the countryside. It's a beautiful place surrounded by forests and they have lots of pets as well!
This year I wanted to show my appreciation for his family who gratiuously let us stay there every year. So I picked up 2 Tomahawk steak from my local butcher and cooked them with your method.
The only difference I made to the recipe was to tie up the herbs with string to form a bouquet garni. Then instead of basting with the brush, I used the herbs to baste my steak.
Other than that, I followed your recipe and the steaks came out perfectly.
I think this is probably the best steak I've ever had in my life and I have you to thank!
His family loved it and also said it's the best steak they've ever had. His dad said it's in his top 5 meals, he's had in his life!
Thanks again, this was a very special night for me and I'm so happy it turned out as well as it did!
