Amiami had another oopsie last night and fumos were once again literally impossible to get. Fumo discord servers the world over turned into mass coping sessions and people got mad. It was all very silly.

My best friend is living JP and i asked him to get me a Sakuya fumo, but knowing how things are gonna be with amiami, i have told him to go straight to the amiami branch shop in Akihabara to buy it for me without having the whole mess on the web store. And then send her back to me.
And now my Sakuya is on the way to Vietnam, to come home with me 👌

It does really suck for the majority of people though because it took AmiAmi several hours to put out the notice saying that they'd release more in waves. I hope they have a better way of getting that kind of info around come this fall, cause if it wasn't for me being the most persistent bastard and scouring multiple servers at once for info on what was going on me and my friends might not have gotten anything in the end. Thankfully we all got our beloved soft Touhous in the end, and I wish the same for those who were less fortunate come this fall
Better communication is a must, yeah. Upshot is that there's clear precedent that they will have rolling/updating stock. Only reason I didn't give up 16 minutes in is because I heard rumors of updating stock during the October sale (only after I had given up unfortunately). It kept me in the game and I made out well thanks to it.
Literally woke up at 3PM the day before the sale because the sale started at 5AM here in the Netherlands. Happy to say I somehow managed to get a Cirno, Koishi and Sakuya fumo in the restocks and slept at like 10AM.
Was it worth it? Undoubtedly.

I was pretty shocked that I got a Ran fumo from the initial wave of restock, it sucks that I didn't get either Chen or Yukari and I gave up after the 2nd or 3rd wave of restock. Though I'm still pretty content with who I got.
I got koishi ran yukari and Chen they did 10+ restocks I could only get 1 a restock but after 1-2 hours of trying I got. Lost word fumo chat was relatively happy about how things went ircc

The increasing prevalence of MTO AmiAmi sales has truly been a blessing.
I was a lucky one, i never got to experience the pain the older Touhou fans had, but i feel SO bad for them, seriously, i already feel their pain when they never got one, even tho its been 1 year, but i hope these guys get theirs soon. 😢
It was an absolute shit show, Gift's move to make them MTO and global was the right move both for them and the fans. The old days when there weren't even worldwide sales were even worse. With that, sales like this were a kinda fun gathering for fumo fans, suffering and occasionally succeeding together.

after buying my first fumo I've been getting recommended lots of fumo videos, and I will continue to venture down this rabbithole of content.
Anyways Im glad I was able to snag a Marisa fumo during the initial wave because I didnt even know of restocks, and if I did I had more pressing life problems at that moment
this wave release was far more effecitve in actually getting fumos in people's hands. However "Misery and Confusion" was the best descriptor I can describe in my experience of literal 3 hours of mashing f5. I did snag a Yukari and Ran though. Chen is finally not alone.
I think in the grand scheme of things the wave system is the best of a worst situation, the real issue was just communication from amiami and people tapping out in the first hour. Also good job completing the Yakumo family.
I wanted to get a Renko and Nitori Fumo but all I got was errors. After I saw that all were out of stock I gave up and bought a bootleg, but after that I see they sold in waves. Eh, in the end, amiami understood that the demand is huge, so maybe next time they actually do something.
I actually got 3 Fumos on that sale. I was awake for like 3 Hours and was close to giving up but I just kept looking and got really lucky.

Yeah, outside of silly Touhou vids like this I'm trying to make documentary type content. Amiami disaster sales are too juicy to pass up however.

My Sunday went from watching WrestleMania Backlash to AmiAmi Backlash on their Twitter feed.
Noticed someone say they got 1 post "Orders closed" and went to load my Bookmarks tab till I saw Sakuya, Eirin, and Reimu all available for like 2 minutes around 11pm. lol my heart legit skipped a beat, and with shaky hands. Added them to cart. At 1st Reimu was erroring during log in for checkout. However managed to procure Sakuya & Eirin. lol I didn't even know that Reimu was an updated version till yesterday. Welp better luck till August or October again.
Exact same thing happened with me, only I never stopped refreshing my bookmarks page. Through sheer force of will I got Snae and Koosh, and I'm glad you managed to get Skukuy and Aaron.
@@CiggySnake Thanks, and likewise! Any at a time is good enough. This wave attempt has taught me a few new tricks. Like pre-adding the Fumos to my bookmark section for easier access and load time. Also waiting till the day ends to snag weeded out bot orders. This time I noticed Ami got lashed out extra harder than usual. I think going forward they're at least gonna ratio suspicious bulks.

Yeah, the 16 minute sell out had a lot of people tap out early on. Amiami will hopefully be a bit better with communication in the future, but otherwise just know that we'll likely see rolling restocks in the future.

I was just looking on Google for a hellscape photo, and I saw a specific image that I liked. Then I decided to look for Touhou content and fumos here on RUclips, and I see the exact same image in this video around the 2:45 mark. Weird.

I’m guessing the server is the lw server. I mainly was on the Fumo discord during this and we all where suffering. I got lucky with reimu, Marisa and miko but I know others who didn’t. Fumo Fumo lifu

They're doing a lot of MTO fumos now, plus I don't think the LW fumos are as popular or in demand as "regular" fumos

I think worst case scenario the august 2022 sale will bump fumo prices up to be the equivalent of ~45 USD, but even then that's a bit of a stretch as Japanese businesses tend to be slow to raise prices.

Back then fumos we'ren't as prolific nor made to order. A lot of people were scalping fumos for several times their value.

Varies, $80-100 were relatively common prices for fumos that were (then) recently released or ones that had had multiple productions. For rarer fumos it could hit $300 or $400, and for the early versions of certain fumos that still haven't had reruns they're likely still at or around those prices.

Yes, Gift and AmiAmi hold MTO preorders for a batch of fumos typically every month or two, and they typically ship 3-6 months thereafter. They're at standard prices as well ($40-50 + shipping), so you can actually get a few without spending too much.
