I went to Stadium of Fire this year and saw this guy. He was the co-host and freakin hilarious! I'll never forget when he went up to a random couple and asked how long they've been dating and they said 3 years. Then he asked them if they were engaged, they said no, and he goes FAITH OVER FEAR PEOPLE. FAITH OVER FEAR.
I've seen this video many times because I was looking for studying tips and funny stuff to send out to students I mentor at BYU, and it's such a good message with a hilarious and well-done approach to it. I love it!
"8 out of five dentists say that studying in the library is six bajillion times more effective than studying in your shower." But I don't trust dentists.
I went to BYU - graduated in 1997. I love the Harold B. Lee Library! I used to study on the 6th floor where the literature stacks were kept. BYU is a great place. This brings back fond memories. I am proud to call myself a BYU Grad and a Mormon!
Absolutely brilliant! Very well done!!! Probably one of the best parodies I have seen. I love the original Old Spice commercial - now can add this along side. Kudos to the creators. Bravo.
@gunther558 the guy is not dead he is part of the transition between the couch room to the next room. You are not supposed to notice him. You are meant to be focused on the foreground rather than the background.
@mattsmith Um, this video was created by the Harold B. Lee Library staff - which implicitly means that it was approved by BYU admin. It's professionally done, my friend.
@strokeofg I'm not sure what CNBC is saying. But according to ad age, market share has risen as well as sales, but this article speculates that much of that has to do with coupon promotions. But this campaign raised awareness for a once old man's brand, and they've done it without stooping to the level of AXE. One of the issues I see with Old Spice is they have so many product offerings they might be cannibalizing their own market share as well as confusing the consumer.
OMG!! THIS IS SO AWESOME!!! YOU GUYS DID SUCH A GREAT JOB!!! lolz, i'm already a bookworm myself so I spend days even years in the library. see my sad, C+ classmates? the library is where it's at! study like a scholar, scholars!!
Actually, that's only for every page after your first. Many teachers mark off if you have your first page labeled "April 1". Seems like you need to go to the library.
LOLOL MLA, the first page is double spaced on the left, which include name, date, teacher, subject, and class (if required). All pages afterward are on the upper right corner with last name and page number.
@kentran9 - I don't think it is. I think that it's the way he's holding it and the way the light hits it... I slowed it down and you can see that there is writing on it, but because of the light, it's really hard to see the grade (the GIANT A+, LOL)
Awesome. I'm a library science student and I think the world needs more clever library marketing. Heck, most people don't know that many public libraries these days offer movies, CDs, video games and services like Overdrive and Freegal that allow patrons to download e-books and digital music respectively.
0:16 there's the guy with the plant, lying down and pretending to be invisible…
After 11 years this is still both relevant and great. Love it.

8 out of 5 library employees think this ad is AWESOME!!!
Brilliantly done, kudos to those that worked hard on this. Go BYU! :D
that was the most beautiful thing i've ever seen
This still makes me smile every time. I miss the HBLL sometimes. #BYU Study like a scholar, scholar. #oldspiceguy
You know, for $50 a year you can become a "friend of the library" at the HBLL, which gives you access to almost all of the library resources.
I effing LOVE THIS COMMERCIAL AND ALL IT STANDS FOR HEEYAH!!!
I've seen this video many times because I was looking for studying tips and funny stuff to send out to students I mentor at BYU, and it's such a good message with a hilarious and well-done approach to it. I love it!
I can never get enough of this video.
Cheers from Czech republic librarian filmmakers - keep up the great work, we love your production!
"8 out of five dentists say that studying in the library is six bajillion times more effective than studying in your shower."
But I don't trust dentists.
You could discover the sociological and psychological reasons for that distrust in library resources.
***** I could indeed. But I think that root of the problem is overdoses on laughing gas. :)
Dentists do root canals.... 😉
And I don't trust people who are three extra people.
He came and spoke to my school in an assembly. He is so inspirational and funny
I had to watch this as a part of my first class session assignment -______-
so did i but i found it entertaining.
Their behind the scenes is awesome! Definitely worth checking out!
Do you know how incredibly happy I am that you shot this at the Harold B. Lee library? I love BYU.
This is the best parody I've seen of Old Spice!
This made me want to study
This was on the top of my session overview, I almost skipped it and I'm actually glad I didn't. XD

What college was this filmed at?
***** Brigham Young University in the Harold B. Lee Library (HBLL)
Sacramento city college
It was filmed at the Harold B Lee Library on the campus of Brigham Young University
+Natalie Melvin The "Y" on his sweatshirt is a clue
That Y is easy to confuse with Yale though!
This is like the 7th time I've watched this video and I still can't get enough of it! Great job guys!
Impressive! This took some real planning to create this. Good job!!! Go Cougs!!!
Did you know that 8 out of 5 dentists say that studying in the library is 6 bajillion times better than studying in your shower? *creepy laugh*
I love these commercials

Love it! Best video I've ever seen!
OMG, love it... for those of us who work in a library that is *slightly* quieter than this one, it's a breath of fresh air!
GO MORMONS!!!
🧐Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints😉😉😄
those 303 people that gave this video a thumbs down, deserve a thumbs down for their party pooping

I don't know how many times I've watched this video. Stephen Jones is perfect and the BYU multimedia team has great talent! Go Cougs.
Great parody of the Old Spice commercials and a good message about effective study :) Love it!!
Transcribe Audio makes this video ever better.
Good job Scott Directing and filming this.
@gunther558 the guy is not dead he is part of the transition between the couch room to the next room. You are not supposed to notice him. You are meant to be focused on the foreground rather than the background.
@NightfireOP It's BYU, I'm pretty sure it was "bucket loads"
One of the greatest videos ever!
Ah Stephen I love you!
Definitely going to start to studying in the library.
omg that has motivated me to study more xD hats off to you
Hey! this thing is the sponsor for our school's broadcast show! Awesome!
dude, this never gets old! :D
They showed us this in UniStart today, as an example of what to do and what not to do
Epic... reminds me of my university days... I MISS IT SO MUCH...
Bravo! Love it! Passed it on to all of my students and colleagues.
Since when is there a snack zone in the library? Where is it at??
This has inspired me to study, love it!
Love this! Thanks from a Seattle librarian!
Watched this like twice today during our library orientation at school today.
@RHeerland I heard that at least one time too....

This ad is now DIAMONDS.
This one is actually really good. Better than all the remakes i've seen
Actually, that's only for every page after your first. Many teachers mark off if you have your first page labeled "April 1". Seems like you need to go to the library.
I can't stop watching this!

@PalletTownStudios correct, but the question is why?
I'm a Utah fan through and through but I gotta hand it to the Y students on this one. Nice job.
The guy pushing the cart at the end was my roommate in the dorms my first semester at BYU.
Could be a memo/business letter/etc.
Shout out for getting a few seconds of this video aired on the CBS Evening News on Friday, June 16, 2010!
@kentran9 - I don't think it is. I think that it's the way he's holding it and the way the light hits it... I slowed it down and you can see that there is writing on it, but because of the light, it's really hard to see the grade (the GIANT A+, LOL)
This is the bomb! Good job--all involved!
I actually thought this was a real commercial by the same old spice guy.
Incredibly well made.
I don't get it, what am I supposed to buy?
Absolutely hilarious! After watching this, I'm proud to say that I'm a BYU graduate and that I taught part-time there for several years!
man, howd u do that, musta been hard, with the library living room thing
One of the best!
I'm assuming its most likely Private?
Bloody brilliant. Makes me wish I could read.
I had to watch this as my 1st assignment in a college course.
@Hapinachu ummm that Y is for BYU not yale
lol I just love the epic way he says "Look AGAIN" at 0:36.
Ever tried doing what he says when he says look down and up? Makes it more surprising.
I'm lucky enough to work with Chris Garcia. He's still got that witty humor.
The page number and last name go in the top right. The rest goes in the top left.
This must be the best library commercial thingy ever! :D
I love the way he talks
Great delivery!
amazing work!
Absolutely fantastic!
let's get this to 2 million views baby! oh stephen jones...you are my hero.
omg DO MORE OF THESE!
usually copying a successful commercial doesn't work, but in this case, it was GENIUS.
Im on a cart ya!!! omg i love this spoof they did so good!!
