Great video. I owned the 5DEV All Around pedals but at the same time I found Tenet’s Omen pedals which I fell in love with right away. Both are high end pedals but I personally love the machining and design of the Tenet’s more. Both feel great under the feet. Very secure and sufficient grip, not as grippy as OneUp’s aluminum pedals.
One of my cheap raceface chester pedals started squealing last week so I decided to get these 5DEV all around pedals (Kashima). They were delivered today and I'm anxious to get them installed and ride them this weekend. One thing I noticed right away is how stiff they are. What I mean is that they don't spin freely compared to the Chester's. I've read that the sealed bearings don't necessarily spin freely but they should turn smoothly, which they do.
One Up composites on all my 3 bikes, cheaper than just one pair of those, I have had zero trouble with the One Ups. I can see me with those smashing into rocks and making them as ugly and beat up as the last aluminum pedals I had
Sending my back. Don't like the bulge near the threads and they are not concave enough. That buldge (with the L and R stamped on them) raises for foot up. Hope pedals I will stick with.
Kona wah wah 2 composite pedals are solid. Lighter than those, they look awesome and they're thin. Good range of colours as well. They look better but they're nearly twice the price.
Beautiful looking pedal and they come in the appropriate color: purple. I go cheap. I've had aluminum pedals before and destroyed them by bashing into rocks. Now I just use RF Chesters, they take a hell of a beating and keep going. I know cheap right?
Nice look! I use Tenet Omen v2 pedals myself and absolutely love them. I get on better with a pedal that has true concavity (pedal body itself is concave) and that's why I didn't go with these 5 Devs. Can't go wrong with either, except maybe your bank account has to say it's OK to buy of course.😅
I've switched over from clipless pedals and bought a cheap set of Stamp 1 on sale to try it out. Hated them, then changed the screws to something a bit longer and now they are decent pedals. Looking for something a bit nicer but not in a hurry and not willing to spend north of $200 on a set of pedals. I'm cheap that way LOL
For quality to value ratio I hear the most love for Deity Deftraps, I can't wait to try them myself. Sounds like they have the highest grip and quality you can find in a $55 pedal, the only ones I hear more praise for are $200 and up
Nice video and nice pedals. Too nice for me. Use flats on some trails that I do not know so well and usually bang them around. Therefore, I go with OneUp. Cheaper and do the job just fine
Currently running Hope F22 pedals which are amazing. I ran stamp 7s for a while and thought they were okay and eventually started trying other brands. I tried composites including stamp 1s (my least favorite pedal ever), one up composites sucked too IMO. I love the one up aluminum pedals 2nd best I've tried so far. I've also used DMR vaults for a while, they are the most grippy but don't like them on my trail bike or DJ, they feel too heavy. I've been curious about the 5Dev pedals and may try them someday, but for now Hope F22 are the best IMO
I'm using Deity Deftraps which I love. I just can't bring myself to buy gobsmackingly expensive gear like this. Even so I don't like the design, much too similar to CB Stamps with the raised centre area. I found it really off putting as it felt odd under my foot.
Another well done vid thank you!!!I'm not sure I like the idea of 6mm opposed to 8mm allan keys to tighten them up.I'm running race face atlas peddles which also have 4 bearings and about the same price and so far they've been awesome!!!
Flat pedal design\profile is important but IMHO composite flat pedals beat metal hands down both for comfort and for grip, in my experience durability is comparable.
Pedals aren't something I spend alot on. As long as they have a concave and loose balls I'll ride them. I bent and even snapped too many with the thin little axles. Sadly even BMX pedals are heading that direction also. I only weigh 150lbs so that says alot. I'll never buy crank Brothers or black label ever again. They failed way too easy and it's not warrantied
I love that crankbrothers stamp 7s I’ve had them for five years and they’re still holding up. Love the look of everything 5Dev makes so beautiful.
That's true, true CNC specialists

Park tool do have a 6mm pedal/crank wrench.
Indeed just not common
I only use platform pedals which have needle roller bearings instead of bushes because I find they last a lot longer.
Mostly use crankbrothers clipless pedals although one bike has Tenet flat pedals.

It's good that they don't spin that fast freely, safer for jumps, overall control of the pedal.
I’ve been running OneUp aluminum for the last 4 or years. But open to trying 5Dev and others.

Super nice pedals and low weight,I thought the axles were titanium for a mom.Ive never used flat pedals, just clipless Time atacs all the time.
Stamp 7,pnw,canfield crampon,one up

Right on!

I love my Yoshimura pedals! Would love to see you review a pair.
For sure, if I can get my hands on a pair. California is pretty far away from Toronto🤓
Was on Shimano XT flats, now on Stump 7. Both great, Shimano fills a little grippier.
Interesting thanks for sharing.
Everything 5Dev makes is just so beautiful. My flat pedals are quite a bit cheaper. One day I'd love to do 5Dev cranks/chainring/pedals.
Couldn't agree more!

It's just a set of pedals? For the same application I use DMR V12 Magnesium, same 350 g weight but 75% lower price. Currently €42 where I'm at.
Dmr magnesium jobs are lovely when they're new but I found they look a bit ragged after a couple of pedal strikes.

Good points! Happy trails

Fair enough!
Oxford and OneUp composite large platform flats. The more you scuff them the better they look.
Don’t really know about BIG platforms, in my experience bigger is not always better in this case
@@LoveMTB That's not what she said.
I have them super light aluminum pedals
all the links in description, not one for these pedals?
Bikecomponents carries 5Dev, it is their first link
@@LoveMTB thanks bro
@@TecraTube No problem plus the discount from then!

Could we get a review of crank brothers stamp 11 flat pedals
I just ordered a pair and there’s only like one review 😢
Shimano XT flats on both bikes
Yeah they are pretty much the ols Saint flats, pedals we still use.
I don't like the middle hump on the pedals. Needs to be flat end to end so the shoe can flex in the middle and press the edges into the pins.
It's how thse are
Why not Ti instead of stainless even lighter! I do like the thin flat almost perfectly symetrical design. Flat Pedals Win Medals
💯
is it teal or blue ?
They are definitely blue vs teal (yeti)
@@LoveMTB in your video , which color did you pick ?
@@sebastiengiovannelli8556 blue
Do you think the paint would scuff off easily (with light use)?
Probably not it’s anodizing not paint
Flat pedal design\profile is important but IMHO composite flat pedals beat metal hands down both for comfort and for grip, in my experience durability is comparable.
Look nice, but I don't use flats
While those look great, I find pedals to be consumable items. Not sure I'm willing to spend $250usd on them.
Not for everyone that's for sure!
Beautiful, but $200 pedals is ridiculous
Yeah, like almost everything new in the MTB world these days.
I would love to support a smaller business, but my wallet isn’t that thick.😢
Thank you 😊

I hear you about Crankbrothers...
It`s a freaking pedal, nothing new about this design.
And you keep talking for over 5min. Even about installing them....!!!!
This is not normal
