- I am so excited to announce a complete revamp of my Pilatus! I'm going to take you along the journey of a new engine, new avionics, new interiors and new paint. Time for a makeover Perry the Pilatus!
Mark, thank you, thank you! Performance talk on power is perking my engineering soul, very exciting & zero talk of concrete, BLAAAH...BLAAH........!
I’m looking forward to the Platus improvements, and I’m sure it will turn out amazing. I’m also really curious about what happened with your Cub build?
+1 for any info on the cub build. Was an interesting project.
G’day Mark & co ;-) Awesome, potentially looking forward to seeing your 0 point energy motors in use one day soon too?
As explained in YT Cosmic Agency - stellar navigation series…
With many source blessings with truth clarity love light laughter happiness joy fun play creativity adventures abundance wisdom and may peace be with you all! Victoria Australia 🇦🇺 xox
Mike , I don’t know how you do it. Your brain must being going a mile a minute. Amazing just watching you do your projects.
The only way to make an awesome aircraft better is to give it to the Patey brothers. 🤘🇺🇸🛩️
Excellent keep us updated on the flatus.
Good morning from Minnesota! Can't wait to see this!
Happy New Year Mark! Thanks for sharing the Pilatus propulsion upgrade. I think I would love to hear the 5 things you love about your aircraft and the 5 things you hate about it. In my aviation career I've not been initiated to Swiss engineered aircraft yet! I'm sure learning what your pro/con views will add consideration. Love you, the channel and the wonderful Patey family. I've found you guys to be the best!
Really excited to see the Pilatus progress! I know Mike touched on why he doesn't, but this video is a really great example of how a lav mic could be a massive upgrade to quality of video. There are very easy to use options out there that can stream direct to your phone or take very little effort to sync up. There are even ones that plug directly into the camera!
I thought it was just me...
This will be awesome to watch. Need to review the engine specs.
Ha! 3 months ago, I wouldn't have known what you were talking about. But, now that I'm flying the C208B Grand Caravan, I do! Only 675hp though.
Heck yea. Get Perry some more go go !!
Yay, that's awesome Mark. Thanks for the update.
You're like myself Mr Patey, putting things were they technically do not belong, but doing it because we can!
Much respect.
I'd love a rundown on the pricing and install costs of the new motor, and the resale value of the existing motor. I'd also love to see the test phase process in detail once the new motor is installed.
The amount of hard work and professionalism that you bring to the Aviation industry Mark, I am so glad that you get to reap the rewards, love the video's, thanks for sharing your experience and journey with us mere mortals, happy new year to you, Suzy and your family Mark, a big thankyou to your parents when you see them, they have certainly raised a couple of true Gentlemen. 👍
I’ve done many engine changes and several finoff installs on the Pilatus. Let me know if you’ll have any questions.
I grew up flying in my friend's PC 12. SLC->LAP to bring back mountains of fish we spearfished. Best family/recreation plane out there!
Happy new year Guys! Your filming and projects are awesome! My suggestion is to infuse some Draco into Perry! -
I would suggest considering whether the installation of VGs might improve the Pilatus's short field performance at the lower end of the envelope even further without sacrificing significant speed in the levels! With your flow analysis skills you showed with Draco and Scrappy wing mods - it might be a rewarding afternoon study to crunch the numbers and see if Perry could benefit from increased short field performance in the Utah environment. Just my2ct.
we would love some pictures and video of the process
Happy New Year Mark!!! I can’t wait to see the end product of your already beautiful ride!!!
Excited to see this! Curious whatever became of yours and Jason's Cub projects??
Awesome! Can't wait to see the build videos... Mike is still teasing us with his ;)
Happy new year to you all.
No questions, no commentary except to say I'm looking forward to the Pilatus Progress! Sounds exciting! *May the best of last year be the worst of this new year for you all, your families, your friends and loved ones!* *Happy New Year!* 🎉🎊🎆
Been fun watching the different paint scheme on instagram.
That will be a very fun video series.
Looking forward to it.
What other upgrades are you going to do to Perry?
Wow.. that sounds... exspensive, can only imagine the red tape (and $) needed for such a mod given its not experimental. Ballpark? Lookn forward to progress
Would love to know the costs. And also love to hear your opinions on comparing the pilots to other similar aircraft. Thanks!
And your -67B will fit JUST RIGHT on Scrappy!
Seen the vid on Mike's channel of the replacement. You guys did a bit of it in the video, but wasn't super clear. Can you give us actual dates when doing these type of overhauls and repairs just to give us a better idea of how long stuff like this takes? Appreciate all your guys videos. They never disappoint 🤙
Huge fan of the pc-12 and this channel. This is going to be great.
I feel like I’ve been cheating since I follow you on Facebook and I’m a local. Love what you’re doing with this!!
Outstanding!
Awesome!! I'm betting brake upgrades are number 2 on the list??
Wild temps
I want to see the whole process! Also flight test after the mod is completed! Do a light weight/min fuel time-to-climb!
MOAR !
Thanks for sharing Mark! It is going to be an awesome plane to look at!
Go Perry!
That’s too cool! No need to put the price. But if you do it would be cool to set a price per 10 extra degrees of operating temp.
Or maybe a price per average minute saved on climb haha.
Pilatus transforms into Draco X
I'd really like to see what you'd do with a Piaggi Avanti Evo P-180.
Must say, Absolutely LOVE your videos, also your brother's! You Guys are such an inspiration to everyone!!!!! I'm Not a pilot but have alot of hours with MSFS since 2006. Recently finally got my MSFS2020 and absolutely Love it!!! My Wife got me a couple RC toys, a twin electric over wing and a drone from facebook. Both fun to play with but what would the Drako cost??? I'm a 62 year old ready to retire and i need somethink to keep me going!!!! LOVE YOU GUYS!!!! Fly Safe And BE Free In The Ski!!!!!
More Power! Sounds like "Tim, the Tool Man Taylor' from Home Improvement. What about interior and avionics? I don't remember if you have the Apex system in there or not. A nice G-3000 system would be nice.
AWESOME content! Thanks for shaing, Mark
I will be waiting for every episode!
Very cool, are you going to put a 5 bladed prop on it?
This will be great to follow. Thanks -
Thanks for taking us along for the journey! Looking forward to it.
May I suggest maybe getting a wireless mic like the DJI Mic for recording? Just a suggestion to improve the audio!
This will be a fun build. Can't wait.
Is the new engine as dependable as the present engine in the plane we know that the present engine in the plane has an unbelievable safety record and is used in a lot of planes because failure is almost unheard of.
Can’t wait to see these fantastic videos!!!
Are you going to do any off airport landings? If so, are you going to do any upgrades to the landing gear to increase the off airport landing capabilities?
The Patey's are insane with all the wild projects they are involved in. I LOVE it. Thank you for sharing. What a great kick off for 2023.
Finnoff STC is awesome upgrade for a legacy, pretty time consuming mod, but they set up up pretty good with the kit.
Are there going to be any improvements for the aero of the plane? aka smoothing it out for more speed or adding fancy wing tips for increased range etc? Also is there going to be a games console in there so your passengers can play MS Flight Sim as you fly? kinda a flyception thang going on?!
It’s a lot to get through the FAA, not sure if we’ll try and make speed mods or not. Must say it would be fun to see if we could get anything out of it speed wise but the plane is already amazing for its size and payload
Nice plane, Mark. What sensors are housed in the right wingtip? weather, infrared ?
Patey = Panel! Is there an avionics upgrade in store, or has it already been done?
Perry the Pilatupus….lol🤘🤣
I understand go fast. But, with aircraft, go fast includes go high. Are you planning on going faster higher, significantly raising the altitude limit?
Is the old engine at TBO? Seems like a very expensive marginal improvement unless you already had a big spend coming up
Eagerly attentive.
All the questions you asked yourself at the end I would like to know. I am curious the cost, I dont have any idea what turbines cost.
add some bush wheels...strap a few bikes on top of the wings and yer golden
What happened to the Wilga draco 2 project?
So other that the engine swop what other upgrades/charges do you have planed ?
What, if any structural changes are required for this upgrade? What's the process for a project like this one? I'm a retiring military mechanic with a A&P cert and GA experience and I'm sure a lot of people like me are very interested in this.
Is this an STC, or would this make it experimental or anything? And, the big question, what is the old engine going into? Draco X?
Are you switching to the 5 blade prop too?
Pilatus:
Pateys: "Meh"
Failing to see a good business case for the motor upgrade? The old motor is going to be used somewhere else? It has a lot of hours on it?
Still a "Certified" Pilatus with the change?
The big question is can it land in the "BACK COUNTRY"?
And the old motor going in DRACO 2 ??
Nope, but I can say Mike get the old motor from me for a new project 🤠👍
1200 SHP nice. It’s going to Getty up quick. How does that relate to cruise speeds? Do they improve?
Why not go with a 1500-1800hp option? Too many fuselage modifications?
Also, why do i feel like the old engine is going in the Wilga? 🤔
Are you also changing the prop to the new 5 blade like on the NG’s? Or is it part of the engine swap? Thanks!
Mark the Tool Man Patey! More power! Hmm hmm hmmhmm hmmmmm…
What about a brand new one?
Video ALL the work please.
How big of a fuel economy loss is the new motor going to impose? 2:16
Soooo…, what is the old motor going into?🤔
When do we start?
Hey mark quick question. is the pappa motor an option when you buy the plane or is this a one off from pilatus or is this modification coming from another shop?
-P is what they put in the PC12/NG (47E), so I'm guessing you could get one from P&W if you can find one. Huge lead time right now, even for a refurb.
Does that fly with the avionics? and fuel systems. is there room? and how does the factory feel about it? and servicing.
Are you going to do anything to the PC-12 that will make it "Experimental"? If so, what would that do to the allowed use of the aircraft?
Now you’re talkin
Whats up with Draco? lol
Does a new engine warrant a new prop - 5 blade?
Send it
why not the epic?
What's the story on Scrappy?
Hey Mark,, here's what a PC-12 looks like operating on an unimproved surface. ruclips.net/video/vUTp97HKAQQ/видео.html
I shot this last January while some pilots were receiving their checkouts in the bird. Enjoy!
Curious on the cost of the new motor.. Also is the other one timed out or does it have value in a different airframe?
draco?
@@KunGProductionS Hasn't Draco's new engine been in that illuminated table for a while?
What altitude does the Pilatus typically “temp out”? And how high will the new engine temp out?
-P usually temps out in the upper teens to around 20k.
What happened to Draco X?
Dibs on the old engine😂
