    I dont know if you saw Asics's financial reports recently but I think you might be interested to know that their sales and profit growth is quite significant. Even their stock has gone up about 400% since 2021. And the company's value has almost doubled. Not only are they killing itbin running shoes, but in sports shoes (volleyball, Tennis 🎾, Basketball 🏀, Football ⚽ etc ), street fashion shoes. This is since the CEO position was taken over by a 30 year veteran of Mitsubishi. His name is Hirota I believe. And he has pushed through a LOT of changes at Asics since he started his tenure.

      Good to know. I knew they were doing well but not that well. They definitely have revitalized the brand and the products. Her win Taiwan Asics is massive for Baseball and volleyball… as well as “sports” in general (think someone who needs athletic shoes or anything, reprisals kids).
      I’m glad they are doing well though.

    I experienced the same frustrations with the Novablast 3 that you outlined. I bought the 4's based on your review, and again, have found your insights to be spot on with my experience.
    The Novablast 4 has become my second favorite daily trainer, right behind the Puma Magnify Nitro 2. I would have never guessed it after my experience with the 3's.
    Thanks for your reviews! The content is awesome and you've become my go-to shoe reviewer on RUclips :-)

      Hey , is the Magnify Nitro 2 as stable as the Nova Blast 4 ? In the Nova Blast 4 and the Gel-Cumulus 26 the guardrails and the geometry of the middlesole guides the feet well when ruining. I wonder if the Magnify 2 is as good and stable as recent Ascis neutral shoes launched recently.
      Thanks.

    • @torenforsberg1
      @torenforsberg1 9 месяцев назад +2

      @@MiracleWarriors I don't know if it's as stable but it is a very stable shoe. Overall it doesn't have as wide of a base as the NB4, but I haven't had any stability issues in the Magnify.
      The foam is the reason I like it a little bit more than the Nova blast. It is nitrogen infused and has the same firm feeling as the NB4 (you don't sink in too much) but is much more responsive. It has a nice bounce that I don't get as much of in the Nova blast.
      The other thing I like is it doesn't have much of a rocker, which also helps the stability.

      I’m glad I’m not alone with the NB3. I’m also glad you see why the NB4 was such a surprise!

      Puma use fairly narrow platforms on their shoes and they also seem to have a lateral bias to them (some more than others). So compared to the NB4 they won’t ever be as stables even with the firmer foams.

  • @timtrenholm3698

    You are reeeeeally making me wanna try the NB V4. I have 120km on 6runs in the NB V3 (everything strides/5k to Z2 32+Km long runs with race pace injections) and so far the shoe has been fantastic. I have 700km on my NB V1 which still gets occasional treadmill use only. I think I have 6 pairs of shoes that are right on the cusp of retirement, so I need to pickup another shoe. Thankfully I did just find a 3rd pair of Tempo Next% to hopefully get me through all my key marathon workouts over my next 3 marathon blocks. If not for the Tempo Next% I know I'd probably have 2 pairs of Superblast! LOL

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 месяцев назад +1

      Wow, Tempo N% or SB… I hear a “vs” I could never imagine. I never loved the Tempo N%, it was always clunky and techy and not fun to run in (for me)… but it was fast and it did get the job done for a range of paces. The SB it’s just so much more enjoyable to run in… but we all have our “the one” shoe… you definitely know yours!

    • @timtrenholm3698
      @timtrenholm3698 9 месяцев назад

      @@SagasuRunningIt's the airpods. The ZoomX implementation in the Tempo Next% wasn't great. That wide forefoot for the airpods is just magical if you can hit them right. I might still grab a pair of SB just for long runs...I dunno. I'm halfway through this block (which will hopefully get me a Boston 2025 bib), and then I have Chicago 2024. So will have lots opportunities to eat up KMs.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 месяцев назад

      @timtrenholm3698 That they will… plenty of kms ahead for you.
      I do remember the ZoomX foam in the Tempo to have felt more dense… combined with React it was very “brick” of you didn’t strike the ground perfectly.
      I’ve just never fully meshed with the AirPods. They are fun for a bit for me but then quickly they become very not fun and a chore to run in. Plus the OCD in me always worries about blow-outs with them… though I never had it happen over 6 pairs of AirPods Nikes I’ve had over the years.

    Great recommendation with this shoe! I just picked up the Novablast 4 LE. The main differences I noticed between the 4 and 4 LE are the updated upper-though I’m not sure it’s better, just different-and an improved eyelet chain. It might just be me, but the heel counter feels slightly firmer too. I took them out for a run but had to cut it short after 3 miles because the heat and humidity were higher than I expected. That said, the shoes performed really well. I still prefer the Supernova Rise overall, but the Novablast 4 looks like it will be a solid addition to my daily trainer rotation. Honestly, I think the perfect daily trainer for me would be a combination of both shoes with a lower drop.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  2 месяца назад +1

      Yup, the "LE" label from Asics is just a lighter upper, usually intended for summer running. I mainly see it on the Novablast now but it has appeared on other models in the past. I've never owned one but a lighter upper on the NB4 sounds great.
      The NB4 is a great shoe, by far my favorite NB. But its still often too much shoe for me. I agree the SNR is a better cushioned trainer option. Combining the two would make a great shoe.
      The NB5 will be upon us in 5-6 weeks...doesn't look like massive silhouette changes, but some big foam updates. I look forward to them.

    Just ordered a pair on sale to try a cushioned neutral shoe as I think my Glycerin 20 GTS have been exacerbating some knee issues. I also wanted something more versatile that I can pick up my pace in (for me that means 8:30-9 at this point), and I’m not quite ready for the super shoe craze! Fingers crossed these are the answer!

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад +1

      GTS is a mild stability/support option from Brooks so that very much could cause the knee issue to come up, especially if the type of stability/support it offers isn't the kind your body needs.
      The NB4 is a neutral shoe that is fairly stable due to the width of the platform. The midsole is soft'ish, but it is a neutral shoe.

      Velocity Nitro 3 then! If you like Pumas foams already… that shoe sound like wha you want. It is actually the shoe I grab over the NB4 often when I want a firmer ride (which is most of the time). Plenty of protection and it does everything the NB4 does but in a very Puma way.

      It’s a preference more than anything. I am finding 5-8mm shoes to feel more natural lately… additionally more of the shoes I’m running in are in that drop range… so when I get a classic 10mm drop trainer like the VN3 I really feel it. I do run in a large range of drops though, form 0-10 on a regular basis.

    Listened to this on a 10 miler in the NB4. Have about 50km and really starting to like it. V3 felt flat after 45min-1 hour and it felt like a reverse drop: best at mid to forefoot running and slightly challenging as a roll through shoe. In the 4, I feel the rocker/roll through and a uniform bounce across the wider platform. It reminds of my first run in the endo speed 3 but with more bounce in the forefoot (I bottomed out in the speed 3).
    I’m using the 4 for easy and daily now but I am curious at uptempo/mp speeds, with less ground contact time, if there is an increase in energy return. Awesome review, as always

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  9 месяцев назад +1

      I’ve not found the NB4 to be as comfortable above, what I call, steady pace (+30secs over my MP per km). Once I get into MP or HMP the soft nature of FFBlast+ ECO starts to let me down. It will do it and it’s fine but it just feels too soft and unstructured at those speeds. I’m finding the Hoka Mach 6 to be much better behaved there.

    Just bought the NB4 due to this review as I have been on the fence between getting these right now as they are heavily discounted or just get the NB5, however, I'm not that hot as to the redesign and repurpose of the 5, I feel like they're even lesser aggressive and more tailored to an even more casual demographic.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  Месяц назад +1

      The NB4 is inherently a cushioned daily trainer. It is neither purpose built or a specialized tool. Its a very casual shoe that anyone can pick up and get some use out of. That is one thing that MAKES a good trainer. The NB5 doesn't look any different from a specs standpoint, other than the foam. The foam is a big unknown. I will be covering it, hopefully soon, on the channel. Maybe wait for the review and the vs before making your final choice.

    Novablast 4 or Boston 12 ? Overall

      Well… I don’t believe in using a plated shoe as a daily trainer… so the choice has to be the NB4. However, the two shoes are in different categories and compliment one another well.

    Can this handle a 90kg runner?

      It should, yes...however the durability and how much use you can get out of it may suffer. The Asics Nimbus 26 may be worth looking at. It's a beefier shoe and has alot of the same characteristics of the Novablast 4 but in a much more durable package.

      I weight 86 and I love them, running daily 8-12km no problem

    Some of shoes are really need time to break in. Once they broke in, they became almost completely different shoes

      Definitely, Asics shoes aren’t as bad as Puma or Adidas and the Breslin they need… but all shoes benefit from some time to adjust to your specific foot.

    There is no shoe on the current market that I want to try LESS than this shoe. Straight to the trash bin 🗑️

      Would have loved you to elaborate on such a harsh opinion, if it goes straight to the trash bin for you what are you wearing right now and what pair are you excited for ?

      What a silly, hyperbolic comment. Trash bin? Give me a break. Many in this world would love to have this shoe. You sound quite entitled.

      I felt that way about the NB3, still do. Even looking at the footage of me running in them made me angry about that shoe.
      Otherwise… I’m glad you enjoy the content and the channel. Thanks for watching/commenting. 🤙🏻
