Sad that Don and Mel kicked Mark Farner out of the band he made!!! They’d be nothing with him! Mark wrote most of the songs. Composed the music, wrote the lyrics and now the backup band takes credit for it all! Pisses me off! I go see Mark any chance I get!
I met Don and Mel at the Seneca Allegany Casino. I told them both what they did to Mark was appalling and that Funk died when he was pushed out. The band was good, but without Mark's voice and guitar playing it wasn't anything like the original three. I retired from drums in 2016 after 50 years of rocking and seeing them I thought would be great.... no. I'm glad I had the nerve to tell them both. I kinda used to idol Brewer, but when they pushed Mark from the corporation I lost all respect. Long live Mark Farner! Two thirds of GFR and 1/10th the appeal.
Gotta give you credit. I met Don at a drum clinic years ago and told him I hoped to see the band tour again. He agreed and said he hoped so, too. Little did I know he meant tour WITHOUT Mark! Since then, I've lost all respect for what he's currently doing

It was stuff from Animalize , Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade and Revenge. I'd love to see that and would be cool if he could get Eric Singer on drums.

You know... here's my view. I know what happens in bands, being in them myself. There are personalities, fame, and jealousy.. I would say Jealousy is the main issue why GFR broke up. What Mel, Don and Mark must realize that absolutely yes, Mark was the frontman... Great voice, rhythm and lead guitar and had stage presence with energy all in one package. Don and Mel have to come to terms with that. That being said Don an Mel are Missing the point as a band together... they too are extremely talented and all have a gift to make the band great as Grand Funk Railroad. They all individually added there talents as musicians to be extremely successful. If they can wrap there heads around that, hopefully soon, they all can be happy and get together.
I wish these guys would bury the hatchet with Farner and go on tour as the originals. They sound great. I know Kulic would be out of a job (again) but I assume even he would want this…
