Sad that Don and Mel kicked Mark Farner out of the band he made!!! They’d be nothing with him! Mark wrote most of the songs. Composed the music, wrote the lyrics and now the backup band takes credit for it all!

I’m 70 yrs. old and grew up LOVING GFR since buying On Time as a teenager.I’m from Georgia and saw ya’ll in Atlanta Stadium when Black Oak Arkansas was your warm up band. You are robbing and betraying us True GFR fans by not including Mark in the band with his Signature voice and guitar.Can’t you see that and don’t you give a damn? No Mark, No Funk. I have been an avid fan since the beginning in 1969. When you gotta hire multiple people to replace one then you are headed in the wrong direction. Especially when the two is not as good as the one.

I met Don and Mel at the Seneca Allegany Casino. I told them both what they did to Mark was appalling and that Funk died when he was pushed out. The band was good, but without Mark's voice and guitar playing it wasn't anything like the original three. I retired from drums in 2016 after 50 years of rocking and seeing them I thought would be great.... no. I'm glad I had the nerve to tell them both. I kinda used to idol Brewer, but when they pushed Mark from the corporation I lost all respect. Long live Mark Farner! Two thirds of GFR and 1/10th the appeal.

Gotta give you credit. I met Don at a drum clinic years ago and told him I hoped to see the band tour again. He agreed and said he hoped so, too. Little did I know he meant tour WITHOUT Mark! Since then, I've lost all respect for what he's currently doing

Don Brewer legally stole the band members 1/3 share and now owns the rights. Mel and Mark are out. I believe karma will get Don Brewer. This happens a fair amount and while it's legal it's also a dick thing to do.
What are you talking about ? It was Brewer who conned Farner into signing the GFR corporation papers and then both Brewer and Schacher voted Farner out of the corporation. Schacher's not out, he's still in the band..

This is Grand Funk Don Brewer owns the name. This is the current Grand Funk lineup since 2000, with Mel Schacher, Max Carl of . 38 Special singing, former KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick, and keyboardist Tim Cashion. And yes it's not the same without Mark Farner

Hey Don why don't you put your ego aside, patch things up with Mark and you guys start putting out music that is real Grand Funk Railroad music. This is not Grand Funk Railroad. I listened to the original group when my brother turned me on to it in 1970. It would be amazing if the original Mark, Don and Mel put out some new original material. I bet it would be awesome and I know I'm not the only person who thinks this way. What you have here is basically a tribute band that even though still has 2 original members. I'm afraid that's all it will be. A tribute band.

Sorry Mel, without Mark you're no where close to Grand Funk. You were part of it but he was the "Heart and Soul". I've been a GF fan since On Time was released but now I wouldn't walk across the street to see your version in concert. I would run if Mark was playing.

You know... here's my view. I know what happens in bands, being in them myself.
There are personalities, fame, and jealousy.. I would say Jealousy is the main issue why GFR broke up.
What Mel, Don and Mark must realize that absolutely yes, Mark was the frontman... Great voice, rhythm and lead guitar and had stage presence with energy all in one package. Don and Mel have to come to terms with that.
That being said Don an Mel are Missing the point as a band together... they too are extremely talented and all have a gift to make the band great as Grand Funk Railroad. They all individually added there talents as musicians to be extremely successful. If they can wrap there heads around that, hopefully soon, they all can be happy and get together.

Good news is Bruce announced today that he quit Grand suck and is going to focus on his career and solo projects. I'm really hoping he does the band with Todd Kearns, Brent Fitz and takes it on the road playing his career in KISS. Like they did on the KISS Cruise. It was stuff from Animalize , Asylum, Crazy Nights, Hot in the Shade and Revenge. I'd love to see that and would be cool if he could get Eric Singer on drums.

Going from idealizing Don Brewer as a drummer in my teens, twenties and thirties to growing up and finding out what a dirtbag human being he is for his blatant pre meditated theft of GFR from Mark Farner is absolutely heartbreaking. I just don’t understand how come the bass sound in 1970 sounds better than now ,with more technology I understand that the precission is heavy but this bass sounds “ empty”,. The great sound about Mel was that distorted bass in the early 70’s,. And I’m not going to repeat what everybody knows about this band without mark.
