They LS Swapped a BOAT and brought it to LS Fest East 2019?!

  • This is the first and only boat we've ever seen at LS Fest! The owner saw the LS powerplant as being a simple, affordable, and reliable solution to replace the original engine in this boat. The fact that it's fuel injected, small, powerful, and cheap made this swap a no-brainer!

    Im happy to see someone else had the same idea. Im finishing up a build for a 6.0 I ripped out of a 2001 Silverado. Trying to push my 21' past 60 mph though. I've heard these alphas can handle the higher power as long as you baby the throttle.

      Alpha 1 G2 will take 350HP but DO NOT hole shot it...Boat weight will matter to as well as prop pitch.. But I am no expert.

    I would really like to try this conversion I have a 29 foot formula go fast that did have to 454s I would love to put two 5.3 fuel injection or two 6.0 where do I try to find the brackets and wiring harnesses not really finding any literature

      CP Performance, and Eddie Marine aka EMI. Check out the LS pages on Offshore only dot com. Be sure to use marine rated fuel delivery, carburetion and electrical. Car stuff can explode. The exhaust is costly, the result will be stupendous. Blowers can be intercooled with lake water, which can give tremendous power. The only water cooled turbochargers are OE, ie.outrageously expensive. But turbos are well, awesome.
      I built a 10:1 383 for a 22' Formula. In retrospect a less exotic big block would have cost less. You can do a lot with big blocks, but the LS is tempting and lighter and can be built to big power once you get past the initial cost of mounts, cam and the stuff I mentioned. HTH

      Been six months since you commented but I’ve been doing research about a 6.2 aluminum block swap. Came across a company that developed a 7.3 liter ls based engine that saved 450 lbs per engine over a big block and made more power and better mpg. It’s the little stuff that is gonna cost the most to convert.

      Mercury, and Mercury. Ls engine has the same bell housing bolt pattern as sbc. Mercury bell housing would bolt right up and alpha coupler would bolt right to flywheel.

    Got a 2018 l83 5.3l in my boat, what fuel pump did you use? Mine can't keep up, bogs down and runs lean from lack of fuel.

    • @3Repete
      @3Repete 3 года назад +1

      Jack. If you are using OE fuel lines start by getting everything to 3/8 ID. Mercruiser is 5/16. This includes all fittings. Make sure your lines have gentle turns, and they need to be metal to be marine rated. I tapped out my fuel water separator housing and went to a return fuel system for my marine 383. Finished it after the season. Better not go lean any more!
      Oh, my pump is Marine Holley Red. No way a 400 or 430 horse motor will overload that.

      All merceuiser 350’s 454’s 502’s and 496 metric motors use a “truck engine”. It’s the same crank, camshaft, pistons…. It’s just been marinized with cooling system and exhaust. There is no such thing as a marine crankshaft and nothing special is needed beyond the external parts. When you get into big horsepower then forged rods, crankshaft etc are in order. Ask me how I know

      @@THEGMDOCTOR-co9vp I have a 350 in my mirage that’s from a truck dipshit. Where do you think they (merceuiser) sourced the motors? It’s a truck engine. That’s a fact. Some of the later motors received marine cams, but mine and most 350’s shipped direct from gm and were simply marinized. Truck engines have “inconel” exhaust valves and RV style cams which work well in marine environments. I’ve actually built a few high performance versions and of course they are dealing with reversion and high rpm. My truck engine runs all day long at 5000 rpm. Merceuiser didn’t rebuild the old 350’s and 454’s, 502 black motors. Again facts. The blue motors were in house custom builds
