Reviews:
"All four Cartwrights find themselves in a real jackpot in a small town where Charles McGraw and his deputy Ben Johnson are the law. The bank is held up and a teller killed and the money the Cartwrights are carrying from a cattle sale is thoought to be the bank loot.
They geta quick trial and a hanfinf sentence, but Michael Landon escapes.
Upon Little Joe's shoulders is the fate of the Cartwright family. That this is an inside job is obvious, but can it be proved?
Nic stry with good guest star turns. Little Joe comes back with a lot of help." Written by bkoganbing on IMDb.com

Little joe on the side of that horse ☀️ now that's riding💯💯
He learned from Billy The Kid who was an ace rider!
I love how Little Joe hug off the side of the horse great trick riding 😁
I actually thought at first he jumped off the horse in the bushes but then I saw him behind the horse 😂
If Hoss has tried that, the horse would have toppled over.

I watch Bonanza all the time when I was a kid but I enjoy it more now at the age of 63 than I did back then. It makes more sense now.
😂 always watched it with my wife now I'm widowed I still watch it on DVD
I’m 63 watching all these episodes for the first time. I used to watch Gunsmoke with my dad before he died. I wish we watched us some Bonanza too.
Dan Blocker was actually very intelligent. Almost every episode Dan Blocker played on, there was always a poke at his size and jokes about his eating habits. Over the 14 + years of the series. 2nd longest running western 2nd to Gun Smoke and the 1st in Color… he was an amazing actor and my hero.
One of the best episodes. Little Joe rocked in this one. Luved the horse trick and the way the Ponderosa boys all came to help.. .. Made me cry the way Ben, Hoss and Adam were talking in the jail before the proposed hanging.....Great ending.....Awesome!!!

Yes, one of the best episodes, awesome. Loved the horse trick & the way theponderosa boys all came to help.
I agree he was great here. Great episode

All Joe had to say was that they were in trouble and they came riding. That’s respect ✊
The respect that the Cartwright gained from the men who worked for them
Lol, that´s *Hollywood.*
John Wayne hated "High Noon" because it told the truth.
@@daysyperez5103 That's right. The Cartwrights treated their employees with the utmost respect and that's why they were willing to rescue the Cartwrights very quickly.
in this scenario all three should have been hanged immediately they tried to get the cartwrights hung
Women love to contend all the time.
This was a great episode. Especially liked how all the hired hands from the Ponderosa were riding in a large number towards the town to save the Cartwrights.
And the moral of this story is that, it's amazing what 30 men with rifles can do!
It wasn't just the hired hands, the friends and neighbors were there too.
So do I at 41:48 or 41:49 I love Hoss's smile it like you men are going to get a raise for coming to save us
Micheal Landon wrote this one! The first one he wrote!
@prairierockhomestead1261You realize this is a fictitious rendition of the old west right, it probably wouldn't of happened back then either...........sorry I take it all back, it's nicer to believe things were more idealistic back then!
It is the best thing ever to see Little Joe round up so many friends like that, everyone had each others back. Great story.

Accept in Virginia City but that was Virginia City business has Ben would say.
This is in my top 10 favorite Bonanza episodes. I think I need a top 20 because there are so many EPIC episodes.
Joe: "I don't know about you fellars, but I don't want to hang around here!" 😀
I like how calm Adam is during the sham trial. Even when it's clear they've been set up, he just like "yup, not surprised". Unflappable
True that, I luved the way he sat at the trial, cool, calm and colleceted.
I think he might be my favourite. If anyone can be counted on to know the score it's Adam
@@MaskedMenace830 Adam is definitely my favorite, especially in the episode "The Ride". He is so cool and calm.
I love this episode for the reason that there are so many people who are Adam fanboys and sycophants that always go on about how smart Adam is. Well in this one he was as useful as a pile of wet socks. He just sat there and did nothing to help in any , absolutely any way. He had no ideas or intelligent things to say. Nada. If it wasn't for Joe he'd be swinging in the breeze. Lol and then the fanboys still find something to praise him about saying he was calm and collected. Well so was the furniture hahah.
Thank goodness that Joe wasn't calm and collected too.
One of my favorite all time Bonanza Scenes is the hired hands riding in with Joe ready to shoot
Great acting by Michael Landon! 👏🥂💯

Little Joe hits a major grand slam on this one. ME love the Cartwright's!!
This story was the idea of Michael Landon. Well done.
I can watch this episode over and over because it's the best one I've seen.

I have avoided the shoot them up Bonanza episodes and have been trying to find the amusing ones, but I am discovering a lot of great episodes like this one. I was surprised to learn that Michael Landon wrote the story and co-wrote the script.
The last line is priceless "I don't know about you fellows, but I don't want to hang around here" 😂😂😂😂
Been looking for this episode for years! Watched it as a kid and never forgot little Joe riding on the side of the horse to escape the posse. Thanks for uploading it! ♥️ So neat knowing Landon wrote the script!
Figures - Joe gets to be the hero while the others sit in jail.
Good morning
I get it. Good one. Been/Ben like Ben Cartwright, thats hilarious
I've watched quite a few bonanza episodes and I have to admit this is got to be the best one of all. Michael Landon directed this episode too. Season 3 episode 27 the GAMBLE. Acting was great in this episode.
Same with me. Saw it as a kid and remember the side horse riding scene. Been trying to find it for a long time.
This was a great episode from beginning to end.
It was, indeed
JOE IS THE BABY BOY.& THE HERO. WE ALL KNOW JOE LOVES HIS FAMILY & WOULD SAVES THEM. I LOVES THIS DAM GREAT WESTERN!!!!
That was pretty good trick riding Joe and excellent catch of the gun tossed from the hayloft!
One of the rare movies where the suspense fear worry n excitement got us in our hearts from the beginning till near the end. Unusual twist of plots made the showdown one of the best.
Little Joe was awesome in this episode!
One of the best episodes ever.
This is like a dream come true! Wonderful episode. Michael Landon wrote the script? He had endless ideas, and that kind of talent that comes along once in a generation.
And yet there are some jerks who dare to bad talk him in some comments like in the episodes i the last seasons. Just look up the last episode of Bonanza on RUclips and see for yourself. I can not understand someone hating on a genius like Michael Landon. A true legend and talent
I love how Pa caresses his youngest, Joe. He did that in the jail and at the end.
To see all of those Ranch hands with those guns brought tears to my eyes
And they deserved a good bonus from the Cartwrights or the Cartwrights would have been hanged including little Joe
I'm sure the Cartwrights woulda thrown a Thank You party.

BKMN. Why none of them died in this episode? For me it was a beautiful sight evened out the odds beautifully. What I want to know is how in the hell the people of the town Alkali, hadn't heard of The Cartwrights or The Ponderosa?
Me too my eyes teared up too.
Artie sure is a sick effer.
Dan Blocker was truly underrated
Written by Michael Landon. They were short a script and needed one, so Landon wrote this one, and it's pretty good.
I didn't even notice, thats awesome that he got to write the script himself! 🤠✌🍿📺
Esta.pelicula.debe.ser.en.español.gracias.de.colombia
I was just going to say, this is one of the better episodes.
I hope posterity credits Michael Landon for his athleticism in this series. I see only one fake jump, and maybe a stunt double riding top speed. Other episodes has him doing all stunts, fights.
Indeed. I thought the end was pretty cool how he enlisted enthusiastic support of many men and a very convincing quick trial.
Lesson of this episode: don't talk bout your MONEY in the open you never know who will make plans .
Very valuable lesson! Hope you enjoyed it 🤠👌🎬🍿
Agree that is a good lesson never talk about money not in the open and not even nobody and trouble is always there and don't make any plans on anything and I wish The Cartwrights don't talk about money and that why they get accuse lot of trouble and wish they don't stop any unfriendly small towns while they do they cattle drive and when they finish they business they need to straight home don't stop any towns for overnight stay and there be trouble
absolutely! Hoss, Adam and Joe fumbled here. Hoss mostly but the other two as well. They need a pact that they never discuss money with anyone else in earshot.
@@andrebond678 Haha, if they listened to you what fun would the show be?
That and you don't lie or mess with the cartwright s ❤❤
I was at work at the hospital today and one of my patients were watching this episode. I couldn't finish watching do to work, so I looked it up on here. Thank you, big fan of Bonanza!!

joe realized he was dealing with unreasonable people so he took his chances and it paid off
I love Bonanza and the Cartwrights. The storyline is really great esp.this one that Michael Landon wrote it.Thank you for uploading.I watched it here any chance I can.
The Cartwrights never learn about announcing the amount of money they carry.
Underrated commit.
Yes they did announce the money they were carrying 30,000 Dollars
How else would the bad guys find out when to rob them? 🤷♀️😂
Yes the Cartwright's are a little cavalier with their money.seen little Joe traveling by himself with saddlebags loaded with gold.Horse runs off but no problem Joe says it will find it's way home.
It's because they read the script. Lol lol lol
Always a better day when I see the Cartwright's🤠👍
Another town finds out that ya don't mess with the Cartwrights. Hairy episode this one.
A sure cliffhanger, best episode for me so far!

Now this is a community I can be a part of. I’ve loved everything western for years and finally have stumbled upon bonanza. Thank you for uploading this gem of a show!
Lol how could you have loved everything western for years but not have heard of the most famous western of all until recently?
Lil Joe has always been the most wittiest of the 3 he”s so smart at reading people an he realized which one of the sheriffs men was the weakest an used him to get the true story out gotta love the youngest. ❤️
But he has a bad temper in many others. Glad he did not in this one or they all would have been dead.
The youngest is always as bright as they are hot tempered 😂 youngest of five speaking.
@@barbaranewton2902 Saying he has a bad temper is totally misleading. When you think of someone who has a bad temper you think of someone who punches you because you said something he doesn't like. Joe didn't do that, well except if a woman was insulted just like society tells men they are supposed to do. He is a little emotional but calling him bad tempered is way off.
Joe is the real hero
Loved the trick riding tactic!
GO LITTLE JOE, GOOO!!!
These videos are terrific! I LOVED Bonanza and especially Joe and Hoss. It's great to see them again and remember some of the parts I'd forgotten. Since I ran across the first of your videos, I've been binge-watching and can't get a darned thing else done, LOL!

Can't live without the four Cartwrights, especially Adam.
Love Joe and Hoss!
Whenever the Cartwright clan talk loudly about large amounts of cash in their possession, trouble follows.
It teaches a valuable lesson! 🤠✌🍿📺
Why would you talk out loud about how much money you're carrying
Cartwright's family always taught valuable lessons we need people like them these days
This is the second time I've seen this. I cringed when they talked about the money where the livery guy could hear...big mistake.
Ben talk so loud when he got into the sheriff about the money and Ben got livid when he told the judge "You honor I gave this man a copy of Bill of sale to prove that our money" Sheriff denies say I didn't see a bill of sale" The Cartwrights don't keep talk about how much money they carry period and that why they keep get in trouble especially when they visit different towns
The actor who played the sheriff has the most sheriff voice in TV history. LOL.
yep!
Unfiltered cigarettes voice
This was very exciting. Had me on the edge of my seat. Loved it!
Same here. I was amazed that such an old show could be so gripping. Even when I knew that the Cartwrights have plot armor, I was still wondering what was going to happen.
Plot armor! That's a great phrase.
This episode was written by Michael Landon.
I Luv Ben Johnson As Stan He's One Of My All Time Favorite Actors
Thanx for the show! Ad frequency is low, so that's a plus. BONANZA is one of my favorite western shows from the old days. It aired from 1959 to 1973. I really enjoy the good stories and lessons to learn from the show, as well as the entertainment value. The acting is very good!
Little Joe with the "Avengers Assemble !!!" moment.
Little Joe riding Comanche style.
These amazing actors really could ride with ease! Watching them just "hop" on and ride... amazing, it was really them doing many of their own stunts
They were awesome & your rite!
That's what friends are for. If you know each other well enough you'll have each others backs against anyone.
That was some nice horse riding that Little Joe pulled off! Lol
This was a great episode remember Bonanza in the 1960s.
The horse 🐎 move by Joe (a stunt man) was perfect. Very smart part of the get away from the pose.
One day my grandmother asked my grandfather to take her into town (she didn't drive). He was watching a Bonanza rerun. He told her to wait until Bonanza was over. It was taking too long, so my grandmother told him "Get up and take me now, you know those dad-blasted Cartwrights are gonna win. She was right of course, but the best thing was waiting to see how they were gonna win. This was an edge-of-your-seat episode for sure
Hoss was the most naive and simple minded of Ben's three sons. However, he had a heart of gold, and would stand up for his family.
He was also the friendliest.
@@jeremylindsey633 Up to a point.
However, when it came to his father or brother's being harmed, his temperament was similar to theirs.
He nearly squeezed a man to death for beating, nearly blinding little Joe, and leaving him in an alleyway.
There are episodes though where he's really smart. Do you remember the episode where he had to play sheriff in some town he was visiting? He was like sherlock holmes solving the crime.
Little Joe was amazing to hide at the side of the horse.
Remember watching this on TV Land in HS. They cut so much of this episode out. Hardly include any of the segment where Joe rounds up the hands. Nice to see uncut.
Great episode...I was on the edge of my seat the whole time.
That should teach them you don't mess with the cartwrights, touch one u touch all...love em all, rip😚😚😚
Old Eugene was a great actor..
This is one of my new action high moment movie my high light of the night. Cartwrights movie's
I believe this is my favorite episode of all time. Admittedly, I haven't seen them all. So, if anyone feels one is better than this all factors considered please let me know.
Finally, they do something they never do in this series that I've been asking myself why? They have a zillion people in their community, friends, cow hands and people they've helped throughout the years and whenever they get into big trouble they never call on any of them for help. Well, here it is. The episode where this finally happened! It was oddly satisfying to see.
That hiding behind the horse maneuver of Joe's was something right out of Indiana Jones! Epic
I thought the sheriff had figured it out when they said they couldn't find him.
But indiana jones wasn t made yet😊
i probably saw this when i was kid, dont remember it at all however, but when joe's horse came around that rock i thought, ha joe is hanging off the side somehow. i must be losing my mind, i know ive seen all of them, or thought i had. but watched about 10 episodes in the last 2 days and they all seem like episodes ive never seen. oh well, whatever the case, getting to watch for "first time" is a silver lining if i have lost it. :)
There are so many seasons and episodes you could almost cycle through them repeatedly and a lot of them will seem new again lol. New Bonanaza forever!
Tense episode. Well written, cos even though you know it will end well, you want to see how it comes about.
Why was it called The Gamble?
Exactly
@@nadaprlic22 to make u forget u know they will be alright
