Just upgraded from my X80 Pro to the X100 Pro last week. The 3 real gripes I had with the X80 Pro, which were the mediocre battery, relatively weak telephoto cameras (especially in mid to low light) and the video recording (not being able to record 4k with either of the telephoto lenses). The X100 Pro fixed all of that, so it was a simple decision for me (I will miss the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner though). Plus, Vivo Malaysia was running a trade-in deal and I got a 40% return of the full price!
I have bought and used about 13 of the best, highest rated camera phones over the past 2 years and when I analyze the photos that I had "favourited" the largest percentage was the X90 pro (closely followed by the Honor Magic 5" .. so naturally, the X100 Pro was high on the wanted list. And it has not disappointed. I take some wonderful photos with it, it has replaced my Huawei P60 as a daily carry and it has been a worthy replacement. Updates, camera, audio and cellular coverage are excellent and of course, no issues with Google services. Highly recommend the X100 Pro.
How does the P60 Pro compare to the Magic 5 Pro in terms of camera? I sold my Mate 50 Pro (mainly due to the lack of GMS) and replaced it with Magic 5 Pro. While the camera is good, I still much preferred the photos that came out of the Mate 50 Pro.
@@TheWertiup the P60 pro takes much nicer, richer and more accurate photos than my Magic 5 Pro. I am waiting to see if the Magic 6 Pro is a massive improvement.
Still using my x90pro plus and it's amazing. You'll never find nothing better for portraits and portraits are the most important for me. The rumours say that new X100 pro plus will loose 50mm portrait shooter, but will get new 100mm 200mpx tele photo shooter. The one that s23u has as a main sensor. I think i'll skip it this year cuz my x90pro plus is still giving me best pictures I can get. And I have gcam on it too so its just rocks everything.
I've heard GCam support on the Vivo flagships can be finicky? Is that so? That's what's been making me apprehensive of getting a Vivo, because despite the native camera app being one of the best in the industry, I still appreciate the flexibility that GCam provides as well 😊
You're good for years in camera department i think i still use my old Huawei p30 pro for photography even though i have a ipone 13 pro max iphone for videos
1 year comparisons are really useful bc it helps those 3-4 year old upgrading customers see if the latest and greatest is actually worth the extra 200-300 bucks. In this case I would be inclined to agree
My x90 Pro has been great especially in low light shots. After learning about x100 Pro telephoto shot capability and V3, I'm really enticed to get the latest model.
Since this new x100 sports a USB 3.2 Gen 2, does it also support Video out for Desktop Mode i.e. similar to Samsung Dex? None of the RUclipsr bother to mention this.
In case of Vivo, there is really good jump from X90 Pro/+ to X100Pro. I will buy soon X100 Pro, because it covers my needs for the completely outstanding good phone with camera setup. I just like it.
I'm really interested in this phone to potentially replace my aging LG V60. I was looking at the Honor Magic 5 Pro as I wasn't hugely impressed by the X90 Pro, and I'm not interested in importing a phone with a Chinese domestic market ROM on it. Honor M5P seemed to be the best all-rounder of last gen (Oppo being out of contention with no global model) but this phone just smacks it out of the way. Seems like it will smack the upcoming Magic 6 Pro out of the way as well, as while I think Honor's 1/1.3" sensor is very competitive with the 1" sensors used by Xiaomi, Oppo, and Vivo, and the 1/1.5" telephoto sensor they are using in M6P is much bigger and (theoretically) much higher res than X100P at 180MP, the actual lens attached to it is only 2.5X optical zoom. So that begs the same question, would you even want to use that over just cropping in 2.5X from the main sensor on M6P? That, and the zoom shots I'm seeing in other reviews from the X100 Pro at 100mm+ are pretty astonishing. Not just a bit better than iPhone or Pixel, it's annihilating them. It seems like it can compete with telephoto lenses on dedicated cameras, which is crazy for a phone to be able to do. Samsung for me isn't even a contender. I got an S21 Ultra last year to play with to see if it could take better shots than the V60. It couldn't. Samsung's photo processing is *HORRIBLE*. I don't understand how anyone likes the shots that Samsung phones take. In 12MP JPEG mode, it's like they pushed the internal sharpening slider to 100%, smashed past the end of the slider, and then kept going to 500%. I took some product shots with it, was horrified at how massively over-sharpened the photos were with edge artifacts galore, and returned it after two days. There's no way to turn that crap off, it's just how it is. I guess it's for people who don't know anything about photography, and think "max sharpening is clearer" and don't see the white edge artifact halos it leaves around everything, and don't know or care that it looks like crunchy, hyper-sharpened crap. S22 and S23U aren't any better. They're all like that. Unless Xiaomi pulls a real rabbit out of their hat with the 14 Ultra (14P does not seem as good as X100P) it seems like Vivo is the one to beat this year, at least globally, with Find X7 Ultra being perhaps the only phone that can match it blow for blow.
Just upgraded from the M5P to X100 Pro, and I would say that the cameras on the Vivo is better than on the Honor for most things. Almost every aspect of the camera is better. Only things that I think M5P does better are: 1. Detail sharpening to noise reduction trade-off on the main camera is very slightly better (although it does sometimes produce oversharpening artifacts) 2. Shooting in medium indoor artificial lighting does sometimes wash out the colors of the X100P (could be due to Vivo preferring to overexpose images to get more details in the shadows) 3. Long range zooms on X100P while looks clearer at a glance, they are heavily processed. M5P while looks softer, it is more realistic. 4. You can shoot videos in log and HDR10+ on M5P while you cannot on the X100P (on the native camera apps) Other than that I think everything else is better on X100P. Video stability, night mode, ultrawide, telephoto, macro, portraits, RAW is better on X100P. (You can only shoot RAW with the main camera on M5P, while you can shoot with all lenses on the X100P and also has SRAW)
I'm still filming vids for youtube using Vivo X70 Pro+ (great phone/cam with builtin 3 axis gimbal & Zeiss lens etc etc ). Waiting on Vivo X100 Pro+ (or Vivo Ultra?) to upgrade. However, soon phones will have AI (and possibly S24) with hex colour matching etc etc etc. So it's a tough call but love Vivo phone cams and likely stick with.

I was honestly considering selling my Pixel 8 Pro for this phone because I keep hearing how great the Cameras are. Juan would you rank these cameras over the Pixel 8 Pro?
The Pixel still is a crowd pleaser in a "you have one chance to get the shot, and might need to use face unblur to fix it" kinda way. The Vivo is a beast tho, and I like the IQ better in almost every other way over the pixel.
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks bro! Do you have a site you recommend I order from? Also do u know a good site to list my Pixel other than eBay? They have gotten ridiculous with the fees.
I was still contemplating on getting the X100 Pro. But after I looked at GSMArena's benchmark performance, especially for the GPU, this is definitely in my list. Dimensity 9300 is an absolute monster!
@@SomeGadgetGuyI keep hearing this chipset debate..from reviews I've seen the mediatek in the x100 is a beast phone runs buttery smooth and is more powerful
Just a quick question does Vivo X100 Pro still supports tripod detection in " Night Mode "? I can't find answers to that in any review of the phone, it seems like the that small tripod icon what previous models had is missing there. - I would love to know that, it's a bit game breaking feature for me.
I still have the Mi 11 Ultra that performs very well, i'm currently seaching for my next camera phone (that i basically shoot everything on my channel with) the Vivo x100 Pro and Mi 13 Ultra are on my list but the difference is not yet enough to upgrade
REALLY anxious to see what the 14 Ultra will bring. The jump from 12 to 13 ultra was bigger than I was expecting, but I'm not sure the same will be true jumping from 13 to 14.
@@mastroclaGo for Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The main Cam 50MP HI Res is the best ever to date. Almost DSLR quality. The 8k video is also the best for a Cameraphone. Also IMHO I think Xiaomi 11 ultra beat Vivo x 100 pro.

Sticking to my recently purchased X90 Pro as I use auto mode anyway and prefer the vegan leather back and even that cheesy steel strip :) one question Juan which I hope you can help with for the future: does the X100 Pro have the same built in hi res DAC to be used with an analogue dongle? Device specifications website shows the CS43131 in the X90 Pro but no mention on the X100 Pro. That can be checked by entering the Hifi mode in the settings menu and checking the specs. Thx
First review that realises x100 pro plus using snapdragon which is most likely might not be an upgrade due to this dimensity being an absolute powerhouse
I'm kinda surprised more folks haven't mentioned something similar, but they'll never understand the real performance differences between the two if you only look at antutu scores, ya know?
@@SomeGadgetGuyexactly bro Snapdragon in the pro plus I think will be a downgrade this mediatek soc is ridiculous,People go with what's most popular so they preach about snapdragon but seeing is believing and you rendering that video in 16secs is absolute INSANITY Yeh the pro plus will have a better camera in theory with the lyt900 but as seen with the imx989 it's taken vivo a couple years to truly maximize that sensors potential, which we are only seeing now with this phones mind blowing pictures.. So Ive ordered this phone and will skip a generation and upgrade next year 2025 to THAT pro plus MAYBE ,depending on if enough strides have been made with the lyt900
Forgot to suggest this to you Jaime, but could you give the Vivo's "Sports Mode" in the camera a go, I have heard people call it the closest thing to generating the results that a Sony phone's eye AF gives, could you check if there's any truth to that in your Camera Deep Dive?
Bought the Vivo X100Pro after watching ur video... I was having a confusion regarding which one to buy between X100/ X100pro or Samsung S24/S23FE ...S24 Ultra is not pocketable to me... But in India S24 launched with Exynos 2400 which is a crap... And have to wait till they launch the SD version ... And with S23FE its the same thing .. they launched with Exynos 2200 but when the SD version will come it won't be any good as it will SD 8Gen 1 the heating box processor... So went with X100Pro after a camera persons review... I am no gamer so pro+ wont help me much... But could you just let us know which app are u using for editing and rendering on the phone ? ... Anyways... Thanks for your review... Hope I would enjoy the phone for the next few years... And hope not to curse you 😂
Not at all. I've mixed camera files in my projects. My video rendering test uses 4k video files from my Panasonic Lumix G85 at 100Mbps bitrates. Android phones chew those up GREAT.
I really hoped that at least one manufacturer would make a phone with a "one inch type" sensor that would retail for under a grand, but I guess that's not happening in a while.
OK I have to ask the total noob questions that I'm sure the answers are out there but I don't see explained on similar videos. 1) where is a reputable place to purchase these phones and/or other lesser known android phones that I see on RUclips. 2) How do they perform on US carriers vs better known brands. Thanks
This year MUCH better support for t-mo 5G bands, but they're still not COMPLETELY band complete yet. There are a couple decent retailers out there. I shop around aliexpress a little, and will also check out sites like giztop or wondamobile.
Currently driving the X90PP, the X100 isn't enough of an improvement for me to upgrade, losing the ultrasonic fingerprint sensor (which is massive on the x90pp) is a downgrade to me anyway. I don't think the picture quality, although clearly a minor improvement on the X100, is enough to make me upgrade. The only thing currently swaying me is the Oppo X7U and Vivo X100PP (depending on reviews from yourself and bens gadget reviews). If rumours are true on the 10x optical 200mp sensor, and assuming there is 3x optical, or similar, to fill that gap between 3x and 10x, so quality isn't dreadful within that delta then potentially X100PP will get me to upgrade. X90P to X100P is a good upgrade though and should definitely be considered, because the picture quality improvement and the camera setup actually makes sense now. Ignoring 2x optical and go to 3/4x so they can squeeze performance from the main sensor for 1x-4x shots and use the telephoto for 4x and above. Actually seemed to be planned rather than chucked together to get a longer spec sheet.
Yeah the pro+ is tough, because it DID have a better telephoto. The dimensity is a screamer, but you have the solid 8Gen2. Yeah, I don't know that I would call a winner like that.
If you ask me, I'll hold off to see if Vivo going to launch the X100 Pro+. The X80 series didn't get Pro+ model, so who knows Vivo might do the same thing for X100 series.
The X100 Pro is the best phone especially for stills and low light. I had the 80 Pro and the 90 Pro Max. The X100 Pro even beats my s23 ultra. I don't care about selfies or video especially on the front it's the back that matters
Normal use is kind of a useless metric, because my "normal" will look NOTHING like your normal. Just sitting in my pocket, on 5G, streaming audio to some headphones, and keeping up with the ludicrous number of alerts and notifications I get, the phone runs substantially cooler than an 8G1 or Tensor 3. I believe the claim of "bigger cores get job done faster, and return to sleep" from mediatek is accurate. If that's primarily how you use a phone though, it makes more sense to buy a mid-ranger.
so d9300 _that's_ the SoC i should be looking out for? not the SD8g3? this revelation of yours thrusts me in a "special" position of my own, juan which is to say: i wonder what linus (who's still, kinda, in the doghouse with me), marques and arun might say about this x100... ...and whether, in the months to come, they'd hold samsung (in particular) to this standard of superior processing power i'm still, begrudgingly, holding on to my sammy ultra note 20 (as interested as i am in the v50 / v60, i'm not presently in a position, financially, to spend my money nillily-willily, you see...) i reckon, thusly: i'll be looking to thee, particularly, to inform my decision for the next beauty i'll be buying in twenty-twenty four, juanie
Oh we'll have to see. Larger reviewers don't do things on their phone. Average consumers upload BILLIONS of videos to tiktok from mobile. We can heartily discount any performance conversation that only focuses on geekbench or antutu.
I have a Vivo X80 pro and I was amazed by the iPhone 15 10bit ProRes and the free Blackmagic app. I don't want to get an iPhone and I was curious what the x100 will bring but I haven't been able to find details on the RAW video format. My X100 pro comes in a couple days, and hopefully it lives up to the hype and gets me feeling passionate again about phones!
Congrats on the new phone! I LOVE Sony gear, but if you were looking to shake things up, the Vivo is a REALLY fun way to do that. It's a significantly different vibe, and that takes a bit to familiarize yourself with how it works, but there's no denying these results. Vivo came out SWINGING this year.
Great video as usual Juan! I made the jump from the X90 Pro Plus and couldn't be happier. My only issue is i get 5g with the Chinese versions but not the global versions and can't figure out why on T-Mobile
X90pp is powered by S8g2 and its 5G bands are compatible around the world. X90p or x100 pro is international which is bulit for each market and limited to their local 5G 😂😂😂
I hope they can be more competitive, but all I'm seeing in rumors right now are higher prices than competing phones, iterative design and features, reduced RAM (which AI really needs to do LLM and Gen AI on device) and a return to the mediocre exynos internationally. I don't think this is going to be a great year for Samsung.
Really hoping this gets released in the UK soon😅🤞! Getting so limited with phones here its unreal. Samsung/apple or Google is all we're getting really!

I was still contemplating on getting the X100 Pro. But after I looked at GSMArena's benchmark performance, especially for the GPU, this is definitely in my list. Dimensity 9300 is an absolute monster!
Damn..do i get the x100 pro or wait till april (rumoured release date) for the x100 pro plus
I'd wait to see what's on the pro+. I'm REALLY curious to see if it has MediaTek or Qualcomm.
@@SomeGadgetGuywould you pick this Vivo or Xiaomi 13 ultra (especially camera-wise)?
@@mastroclaGo for Xiaomi 13 Ultra. The main Cam 50MP HI Res is the best ever to date. Almost DSLR quality. The 8k video is also the best for a Cameraphone.
Also IMHO I think Xiaomi 11 ultra beat Vivo x 100 pro.
@@SomeGadgetGuyWith the 14 Pro got the same dual-stage variable aperture as the 13 Ultra, it makes me wonder what Xiaomi will do with the 14 Ultra. I'd love to see Xiaomi doing the same 10-step variable aperture as Huawei's.
Hope they fixed the battery life and screen (green line) issues that the X80 Pro had.
This munster have to be in global market 😮
@@SomeGadgetGuyexactly bro
Snapdragon in the pro plus I think will be a downgrade this mediatek soc is ridiculous,People go with what's most popular so they preach about snapdragon but seeing is believing and you rendering that video in 16secs is absolute INSANITY
Yeh the pro plus will have a better camera in theory with the lyt900 but as seen with the imx989 it's taken vivo a couple years to truly maximize that sensors potential, which we are only seeing now with this phones mind blowing pictures..
So Ive ordered this phone and will skip a generation and upgrade next year 2025 to THAT pro plus MAYBE ,depending on if enough strides have been made with the lyt900
I am using vivo x80 pro and iPhone 14 plus planning to sell iPhone and buying vivo x100 pro.I am a big vivo x series fan.
Forgot to suggest this to you Jaime, but could you give the Vivo's "Sports Mode" in the camera a go, I have heard people call it the closest thing to generating the results that a Sony phone's eye AF gives, could you check if there's any truth to that in your Camera Deep Dive?
Missed seeing your videos its been a long time
does the x100pro have the same yellowish display issues ? does it also oversaturate the yellow tones ?
And hope not to curse you 😂
hello bro , i have x90 pro+ , still worthy upgrade?:)
Is it crazy to get this phone to render stuff taken with proper cameras?
The chinese variant can be imported here for $799. I think you should be able to find some killer deals on Xiaomi 13 Pros?
The camera sensor alone is not cheap, so don't expect it to go cheaper anytime soon.
How much does the speaker and vibration motor fare against the ones in Oneplus 7 Pro? I found the ones in X90 non pro to be worse in comparison
@@SomeGadgetGuy thanks for the reply. I have T-mobile so I may have to look into this one.
Actually seemed to be planned rather than chucked together to get a longer spec sheet.
is there any word on when the x100 Pro Plus is gonna be available?
We currently have the X90 Pro+ and wants this X100 Pro for camera purposes. But overall, is it not worth it?
Yeah the pro+ is tough, because it DID have a better telephoto. The dimensity is a screamer, but you have the solid 8Gen2. Yeah, I don't know that I would call a winner like that.
If you ask me, I'll hold off to see if Vivo going to launch the X100 Pro+. The X80 series didn't get Pro+ model, so who knows Vivo might do the same thing for X100 series.
Is there any bluetooth gadget that can trigger yhe camera/video of the X100+ remotely?
Yeah. Remote BT triggers should work.
The X100 Pro is the best phone especially for stills and low light. I had the 80 Pro and the 90 Pro Max. The X100 Pro even beats my s23 ultra. I don't care about selfies or video especially on the front it's the back that matters
TRUTH! I only take rear camera selfies. Front cameras are only for video calls 😁
So how are rhe thermals? How warm does the phone get during normal use?
Normal use is kind of a useless metric, because my "normal" will look NOTHING like your normal. Just sitting in my pocket, on 5G, streaming audio to some headphones, and keeping up with the ludicrous number of alerts and notifications I get, the phone runs substantially cooler than an 8G1 or Tensor 3.
I believe the claim of "bigger cores get job done faster, and return to sleep" from mediatek is accurate. If that's primarily how you use a phone though, it makes more sense to buy a mid-ranger.
@@SomeGadgetGuy disagree terrible. What an awful comment. Phones shouldn't heat up all with normal usage. Like the pixels did etc.
“I’m afraid I can’t do that Dave”
HA! I know right! I can't un-see it.
Great Job like always.
which is that video editing tool?
I still use my vivo X60 watching👍
Hey Juan will you be getting the oppo find X7 Ultra?
I will, but not right away. Got a few more phones lined up first.
Are you going to get a find x7 ultra?
so
d9300
_that's_ the SoC i should be looking out for?
not the SD8g3?
this revelation of yours thrusts me in a "special" position of my own, juan
which is to say: i wonder what linus (who's still, kinda, in the doghouse with me), marques and arun might say about this x100...
...and whether, in the months to come, they'd hold samsung (in particular) to this standard of superior processing power
i'm still, begrudgingly, holding on to my sammy ultra note 20
(as interested as i am in the v50 / v60, i'm not presently in a position, financially, to spend my money nillily-willily, you see...)
i reckon, thusly: i'll be looking to thee, particularly, to inform my decision for the next beauty i'll be buying in twenty-twenty four, juanie
Oh we'll have to see. Larger reviewers don't do things on their phone. Average consumers upload BILLIONS of videos to tiktok from mobile. We can heartily discount any performance conversation that only focuses on geekbench or antutu.
Is the regular x100 a better deal ?
If you don't care much about the camera and mostly care about the chipset performance, the vanilla X100 is already good enough.
@@FAT8893 I wouldn't be looking at the x100 series if i didn't care about the camera
@@Ystrly Understandable, though the vanilla version doesn't really have the same capability as the Pro version.
I Sale My S23 Ultra and Exchange VIVO X100 Pro and I am Happy With Photos Capture. I Have to Test
For Video Recording Rear Cameras
I still think Vivo has the best camera among BBK brands. Even ahead of Oppo.
After using the Find X6 Pro, it's a close fight, but i prefer the Vivo style, and the low light performance is insane.
Juan does the speaker stereo and good?
I think so.
@@SomeGadgetGuy haha between p8p which one has better speaker
Android desktop mode working on x100 pro??
Already flipped my X90 Pro to X100 Pro. And i am loving it!
Can you tell me quick.. Is x100 equals to x90pro.. I am buying tomorrow which is better at same cost? Urgent
Is there a difference in overnight/idle battery drain?
I have a Vivo X80 pro and I was amazed by the iPhone 15 10bit ProRes and the free Blackmagic app. I don't want to get an iPhone and I was curious what the x100 will bring but I haven't been able to find details on the RAW video format. Is it 10bit, how far can you push the colors, etc. Have you tried it out?
You sir, is the second guy I immediately subscribed based on your voice alone. And I'm happy after I finished this video, I found that you make interesting points and other stuff too! Come on people, SUBSCRIBEEEEEEEEEE!!!
Never used a Vivo before but have always heard great things. I've been using Xperia for the past 4ish years and am just feeling pretty jaded with the way their devices and decisions are going.
Vivo came out SWINGING this year.
please check for telemcro in ur review and minimal focus distance
If you follow me on flickr or mastodon, you can see some full resolution samples of the tele macro.
Great video as usual Juan! I made the jump from the X90 Pro Plus and couldn't be happier. My only issue is i get 5g with the Chinese versions but not the global versions and can't figure out why on T-Mobile
Ugh! I wanted that pro plus so bad!
X90pp is powered by S8g2 and its 5G bands are compatible around the world. X90p or x100 pro is international which is bulit for each market and limited to their local 5G 😂😂😂
i'll stick with x90pro+ for time being 😁
Will this phone work in the US on T-Mobile 5g network
I'm geting MUCH better t-mo support, but it's not completely supporting ALL bands.
@@SomeGadgetGuy I really would like to buy this phone. I think I’m gonna wait and see what the S 24 offers but I’m really interested in it.
Can't wait for the pro plus version, global or no global i am gonna buy it for the cameras. S24 will be the joke
Samsung has a TOUGH year ahead of them. The only standout feature they can claim is Dex, and Samsung doesn't promote that at all.
Don't count Samsung out there's very few companies that has the resources and influence as they do.
I hope they can be more competitive, but all I'm seeing in rumors right now are higher prices than competing phones, iterative design and features, reduced RAM (which AI really needs to do LLM and Gen AI on device) and a return to the mediocre exynos internationally. I don't think this is going to be a great year for Samsung.
s24U user here, its a joke. i cant wait for the X100 Pro+ to come out
Really hoping this gets released in the UK soon😅🤞! Getting so limited with phones here its unreal. Samsung/apple or Google is all we're getting really!
I'm not gonna pay UK prices when you can import the Vivo for 650
@@TedThomasTT I don't want the Chinese rom version, as it isn't compatible with the likes of android auto. Which is a need for me as I use it daily 🤞.
MTK just doesn't work. Gaming graphics stutter. Better stick to snapdragon if you're heavy gamer
X90 won't change next 2 year's 😊😅😅
