If there are 8 cores, wouldn’t 400% be only half the cores? I realise that only 4 are performance but if you still had 4 cores untouched, that means only 50% of the CPU was in use. Why would the computer be struggling with that? Also I’ve seen many vids of real world use maxing put the M1 CPU and the cpu never throttles thanks to the efficient cooling. So I am so confused why your stream was suffering. This is one of the only videos I have seen making these claims and I have been watching a ton trying to decide if I want to purchase. I’ve been able to stream and record (I’ll be it at lower frame rates and resolution on a 2015 MBP with a horrific graphics card and not have it crap out. So I’m just having a hard time understanding this. I’m wondering if there were other ads on running in OBS Or what ever platform you were using to stream. This isn’t a knock at all I’m just trying to understand how this is possible.
The machine as a whole was performing well, streaming was fine too. I mentioned it did not slow up when using these apps. The main issue you should caution is software optimization and video encoding using the CPU. This creates the lack in video recording quality and struggle for reaching higher fps.
For mac (check about this Mac section on computer), dedicated would be defined as “graphics” on your computer and would be labeled as AMD Radeon or GeForce, etc. Integrated would be intel HD graphics. I would highly recommend the app “speccy” and it will tell you in great detail what components you have.
Hello... Love your video... so many great tips!!! My only issue... Watched so many video about streaming with capture cards on M1... and when I tried on my new iMac, as soon as I added the video source of the Xbox X (thru the capture card), it freeze the whole scene and become soooo laggy. And SLOBS and OBS (both are doing the behaviour) doesn't even bother changing the FPD count or give me a frame-drop warning. I tried with the HD60S+ and also a cheap one... always the same thing. I can see the feed but the whole scene is becoming 1FPS or so... so laggy and freezing. Any idea?
@@MidnightMan I’ve noticed something based on many tests…. It’s related to MacOS Monterey….. With M1 iMac, the webcam can have portrait mode (part of Monterey). I got an HD60 s+ today but can't get the source at 1080. It defaults to 1280x720 (preset) but when I set the resolution to 1920x1080 the source turns black. What can I do?
I got an Macbook Pro 2019 i9
Set it to “high” in the drop down
@@MidnightMan Then the window changes when I start a game
FYI the IShowU regular and instant both bricked my M1 MacBook Pro, I had to erase my Mac in disk utilities and reinstall Big Sur TWICE. Don’t know what it could have been but the M1 Mac has not been a good streaming experience for me at all. The virtual camera has also not worked on Discord either. It’s really a shame that such an expensive, “futuristic” computer is not compatible with so many popular programs.
My exact point on this, it will be some time before the programs are fully optimized, by then it will be an amazing experiencing for streaming. 🤞🏽
Hope your computer is working alright now.
@@MidnightMan Hey MM, so after the last time I erased everything and started over, I downloaded Discord and Streamlabs OBS again and tested audio capture without installing iShowu or any other type of similar software and guess what, now my desktop audio actually comes thru on my streams. I don't know what changed, but now it works seamless. I need to test the virtual camera aspect, but since I don't actually need it to stream I'm ok without. Hope this helps anyone else that is having issues.
Did you get the 8GB of ram or 16GB?
Good question. Did you ever buy the mac mini by the way? Any experiences streaming with it?
For some reason the picture quality is worse on my SLOBS vs OBS and I can’t figure out why.
SLOBS takes more processing power than OBS and is generally more unstable too.
Updated version of this with new M1 Pro/Max
Is there a graphic card that will work with the Mac mini?
No
I'm on the m1 max 16 inch and I'm getting massive drops just like that and huge cpu usage as well lool, 60FPS recording still impossible on Streamlabs obs
i have one question if anyone could help me i am streaming with eos utility through obs in M1 mac but desktop audio capture is not working without any paid option anyone have any knowledge about free plugins so i could add desktop audio capture
Why do you have two elgato I'm still saving to buy one
Elgato sent me one 🤭
@@MidnightMan oh I asked for one for my bday
A son of Will Smith!!!
i have every sound problem on OBS with this mac mini
Do you ever stream on a 16 intel MacBook?
Yes, but while running bootcamp
Hey, The app wasn't working when trying to use HD 60s+ because you're supposed to open up the "4k capture utility" not "Game Capture HD" !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
4K utility is only for Windows
@@MidnightMan dude thanks for even replying to me. Keep up the good work. 😁
I have no problems streaming with Obs and a Mac mini
Yoo Dope Video! Great 👍🏻 tips btw If anyone can help out here Can I can use my PlayStation 5 camera for obs or do I need a regular streaming or dsl camera for obs...
You need a regular webcam or cam link/hdmi usb input adapter for a dslr
MidnightMan Thank You it was not working & didn’t how to fix it I appreciate it you & im sharing all your videos on all socials media you are Dope ! 👏🏻💯
Stream labs is claiming that they are finally optimized. Have you tested?
I will need to!
From what I’ve seen there still is not a dedicated M1 app for OBS/SLOBS
@@MidnightMan that’s what I thought too. I specifically asked them on the discord and they said yes. But nothing in the release notes.
I installed ishowu but i cant find it in Midi? What can i do?
You should have it, it’s built into the OS
KFconsole has competition vs the new iconsole
I dont get it. youve got some issues when streaming from the mac mini. Some others dont have issues. I guess its just not opzimized right now
Streaming was fine from OBS (not SLOBS). The recordings I was expecting to be in better quality.
How would I know my laptop has a "dedicated gpu?"
@@MidnightMan thank u
i could do 80,000 bit rate but i stream and game on the same rig. so if i tried my computer would try to kill me
Any idea?
Mind DMing me and sharing your settings? It may need tweaked
@@MidnightMan I’ve noticed something based on many tests…. It’s related to MacOS Monterey….. With M1 iMac, the webcam can have portrait mode (part of Monterey). If this option is activate its almost impossible to use any capture cards in SLOBS or OBS… Once the option is desactivated, the capture card is working well…
Hope they get all the kinks out of Monterey before the full release
Noti gang
I would assume all this has changed 3 months later.
No... there is not an M1 app for these programs.
