You can tell how Lars is uncomfortable here talking bout this. He even defends himself "uhm i got slight punch but i did stand up through rest of the night ..."
I read it was not their only fight. James used to beat up Lars because of his poor performance, and Lars would get him back by starting a wrong song on a concert deliberetly or miss first couple of beats.
That's interesting considering Lars is (admittedly arguably) the leader of Metallica.
James used to throw Lars into his drum kit.

@@WillowandGrace so he didn't play on the first demo and the first few shows big deal. He was still there from the start. He only missed the first 6 months or so.

In the early days Lara used to play drums too fast and not in sync with the rest of them, so they had a lot of fights not just one.
I remember an interview with Lars talking about how he got into a fight with Nikki Sixx from Motley Crue when they were young and starting out. It was hilarious. I wish I could find it.
