    One thing i did not expect was to find a new favorite blue metallic in this video.
    3 layers of Talassar Blue over gold. That one's going in the back pocket.
    Fun vid as always!

    • @PureMetalDragon
      @PureMetalDragon 2 года назад +20

      As a Talassar blue enthusiast (Bluecrons for the win) I also discovered a few original uses for it...
      Talassar blue over Runelord brass gives a tarnished dirty brass look. Try it out on all those bells on your Nurgle guys. Edit: whoops I checked my notes. It was Frostheart, not Talassar Blue. Talassar blue still gives a strange alien blue green metal.
      Want to quickly paint a bunch of Nephrek Necrons (golden body, green glow). Paint it gold all over, and add the Talassar blue where the glow is needed.
      Want a colored metallic that just seems to glow almost like a fluorescent paint. Get yourself the shiniest chrome paint you can (I used Tin Star by Turbodork. Beware: you'll be cleaning out micca particles out of that brush for days, but a good smooth coat will be almost mirror like) and add Talassar blue. Seriously stunning
      Do you have trouble wet blending? Necron hyperphase blades got you pulling out your hair? a coat of thinned down contrast (3 medium per paint) will smooth the transitions. Actually... Talassar blue might not be the best for this, better use a weaker contrast like Aethermatic Blue (what I use)

    Honestly I'm just surprised that thinned paint even stacks like that. I assumed this was thick right out the bottle
    Like I regularly put on like 30 layers of paint when working on skintones and you can't tell that by looking at the model.

    These minis are not "overpainted"!
    They're a just painted "tough" to take massiv beating on a tournament. They will start as big bloobs, but over time color will peal off and a beautiful swan will...nope, they're fuuked up...
    AND...The look a bit like Haribo Yummy Marines...

    There is one benefit to this method, all the models are so shiny you don’t even need to shade or blend for lighter colors the ceiling lights do it for you! And you don’t need to edge highlight because there are no edges!

    I've got a squad of tactical marines that I got second hand from a good friend of mine that look actually quite similar to this. He did them when he was quite young and they are a super aggressive yellow. I only just realized recently that they actually have Dark Angels shoulder pads because, despite being moulded on, the emblem is pretty badly obscured
