The show was phenomenal. The story started slow but got so fast that I couldn't pull myself away. We knew he'd go vigilante and win but there was a twist at every turn. I loved it.

The terminal list was perfectly paced, wonderfully acted with just the right amount of tension broken by infrequent but important humor, mostly in the form of memories. But it was totally dripping and Chris Pratt and Taylor Kitsch were magnificent.

I know that i am way late, but i must say you didn't read the book when you said that they respected source material. I watched the show first and read the book second and differences are huge, But thankfuly the changes didn't ruined the show like that other Amazon forest Fire of the show that i don't even want to name. I had to say this and i am sorry if it was hostile.

@@sonofrivadin3684 Respecting the source material vs copying and pasting are two different things. Even the best film adaptations almost never follow the books word for word, and you know it. There are a lot of reasons why film companies just cannot do that. A lot of the time it is impossible, given the situation. Like changing a location from the book because it would just be too difficult to film there in real life as an example. Nice try though.

The only issue I have with the novel to video adaptations is that there were significant changes to the character development and their backstories. For example, Katie Buranek's story of how she's related to Reese's story is important. Terminal List introduced Freddie Strange who plays a huge role in True Believer. The biggest miss isn't much introduction to Raif Hastings in the end of Amazon's Terminal List (that I can remember), but his introduction is key to developing the plot of True Believer.
Jack Carr did a fantastic job in his books with building an epic story of James Reese where the supporting characters and antagonists are intertwined across several novels and several different Reese generations. The Amazon version changed much of that, but Jack was involved so I trust he has a plan if Amazon greenlights any additional seasons.
I'm not an author so I have to trust Jack as the creator of the novels, and a producer of the videos. I just suggest that anyone that watched the shows first go back and read the novels. You'll understand a lot more of Reese's story.

All the changes the show made from the book were improvements. Carr even says here in the interview that he had a sticky note that said "revenge" on his laptop as he was writing; but the book read like HIS revenge, not Reece's. He obviously had an axe to grind with NCIS and the Clintons, but he saved the most gruesome death for the JAG officer who just acted as a go-between while the sicarios who actually pulled the trigger on his wife and daughter got off with a bullet to the head. I'm also glad they changed Ben Edwards from a cavalier traitor to a reluctant one and cut out that bit with Katy being held hostage with the det-cord around her neck. That scene in the book didn't feel earned.

    • @wordragon

They made a terrible mistake casting Constance Wu as Katy. That is Reece's love interest in the books and there was zero chemistry with those two in the series. The funny thing is I feel that might have been a sticking point with Jack Carr because he rarely talks about Constance in all of the podcasts and appearances he has done. I think he mentioned her two times in passing and it is a major character in the books.

I watched all 8 episodes and even though the main character became essentially a terrorist by pursuing his sense of justice, I understand that this is about a warrior spirit and in that way, it is beautiful. This is what I imagined from the song "Hair of the Dog" by Nazareth. "Now you're dealin' with a... SON OF A BITCH!!!" Meaning the bad guys didn't count on someone who trains to become the most lethal warrior would ever use his skill to go on a rampage against them.

@@graymcneill4564 -My issue is that they minimized Katy's part in the show and that might be because they ended up race swapping and changing that character's back story probably for the diversity quotas Hollywood has imposed on everything. Carr is never going to reveal it, but he rarely talks about the actress Wu compared to all the other actors and actresses. I almost wonder if he resented her casting. If you know her story in the rest of the books, then you know Constance Wu was a bad casting choice for the Katy character because she has zero chemistry with Pratt and plays Katy differently than in the book.
