Same -- I think the only way to know which filter connection you have is to check with your own eyes. The VIN wasn't useful for knowing in advance (in my experience).
Hey man I’ve learned so much from your videos ! I have a 98 s500 that’s been stalling at stops and reds. I suspect it might be the fuel filter as the car has 150k miles and to my knowledge this has not been changed. Thoughts ?
Yes could definitely be fuel. Always start with fuel and spark. Keep in mind it could also be clogged injectors. Best thing to do is change filter and add a ton of fuel cleaner to fresh tank. I like to only do a 1/4 tank of fresh gas with like 3 bottles of injector cleaner and then let car get to temp and rev it up for a bout 20min to push the cleaner through the injectors. After that change spark plugs and depending on heat check cap and rotor.
So off camera next day I drained it and fuel wasn’t dirty just old. Fresh fuel and car is running amazing. I don’t think the tank is bad just bad fuel and old filter. I plan to swap out filter again soon.

i have a random multiple cyl misfire checked all plugs and coils they are fine now im suspecting fuel filter
